If you have ever struggled with food guilt, bingeing, picking your body apart and obsessing about the number on the scale, today's episode is for you!
My very recently graduated client - Emmylou - joins me to share about how she went from weighing herself 6 times a day, tracking everything she ate, and being consumed by physique goals to where she is now....an intuitive eater!
In the episode, we chat about
- Her struggles with bingeing, purging and feeling controlled by food and the scale prior to my program
- Her biggest fear in taking the leap to seek my support
- How the non-nutrition work we did impacted her mindset around food and body
- The connections made between childhood experiences and her adult relationship with food

#72 - Your Body is NOT a Measure of Your Success with Sherri Wright-Schwietz
Sherri Wright-Schwietz - my new (self-proclaimed) bestie joins me on today's episode! Sherri is a 51 year old Calgarian, a VP for ATP wealth, a mama, lover of humans and fellow diet culture rebel.
At a recent leadership event I attended, Sherri spoke about success. In particular, the beliefs we have - especially as women - of what success looks like. This of course includes size, shape, and all things appearance.
In the episode, we chat about:
- Sherri's childhood imprints of what a woman's body "should" look like
- The loss of two organs in the pursuit of thinness
- What it means to "look good, feel good"
- What we are made to believe success looks like, vs what it actually looks like
- The lies we are told as women that lead to this confusion
- Advice she would give her younger self (and all of you)
Sherri is one of the most beautiful humans I have had the pleasure of meeting and I am so grateful to get to share her with you!

#71 - The 4 Step Blueprint for Letting Go with Divorce Coach Jaime Morgan
Jaime Morgan joins me today to share about a new layer of healing untouched on the LYN podcast - healing from the loss of interpersonal romantic relationships.
Jaime and I met at a networking event where we connected over our histories of struggling with food. I was so curious to hear more about her line of work, and how certain challenges (particularly control) manifest in both romantic relationships and relationships with food.
We chat about:
- Why we try to control our relationships & relationship outcomes
- The connection between controlling her relationship and Jaime's eating disorders
- How she healed after the divorce from her spouse of 15 years
- The biggest barriers that hold people back from finding all forms of healing
- Jaime's signature 4 step blueprint to letting go
So often we think of our relationships with others as independent from our relationships with ourselves, but the healing goes hand-in-hand and looks very similar so for those of you on any healing journey - body image, food, self-love, divorce, etc. - this episode will feel like such a warm hug!

#61 - BEST OF 2023: Improving Your Body Image
Merry Christmas!! I hope you all had the most magical holiday season. I know this time of year tends to be tricky for many, as it is filled with challenging family dynamics, glutinous food and often feelings of guilt for over indulging.
I want to remind you that food is more than just fuel. Food is emotion, and memories, and enjoyment. It is okay if you allowed it to serve that purpose for you.
As we approach 2024, I would invite you to reflect on your relationship with food, and how long you may have been trying to figure it out on your own. One of the most beautiful gifts you could give yourself this season is the gift of healing.
The next cohort for my group coaching program - Food Freedom Collective - is coming January 2024!
This program was designed to teach you healthy nutrition habits, help you transform your food mindset, heal your relationship with food, and improve your body image.

I have loads of questions all the time about how to improve body image, self-esteem, confidence...all the things body! There is no denying that the holiday season tends to be a major trigger for this.
Living with an eating disorder and disordered eating for over a decade made it incredibly difficult to overcome the feelings of resentment I felt towards my body when it would change. It also made it difficult to not feel like a failure if I wasn't "seeing progress".
If you resonate with any of this, you will want to tune in!
In the episode, I chat about
- Body grief - what it is and the 5 stages
- Tools to cope with body grief
- 4 tips to help support a positive body image

This episode is brought to you by the feelings of frustration that accompany weight cycling, no being able to look at oreos without gaining weight, and failure that is associated with struggling to see results or keep results when you're following a plan.
I want you to know that whatever discipline or willpower you think you're lacking, is actually just diet culture trying to steer you farther away from your set point - which is where we can live at peace with food and allow our body to keep our weight stable, without having to jump in and control.
In today's episode, we chat about
- What is set point theory
- What causes changes in set point
- What it's important to find your set point if you desire having a healthy relationship with food
- How to know that you're not at your set point
- How to find it
If you allow it, this information will be incredibly liberating for your food freedom journey!

#45 - Body Image 101
I have had loads of questions recently about how to improve body image, self-esteem, confidence...all the things body! Admittedly, this is one of the most difficult journeys to be on, because while we can hide our relationship with food, we cannot pretend our body is anything other than what it is.

#44 - Combining Psychology and Personal Training For Women, With Gabby Goodbrand
Gabby and I were recently introduced by our mutual friend Lindsay (peep episode #21 for my interview with her) and was fascinated by her professional transition from psychology to personal training.
Pre-covid, Gabby was a school psychologist, but realize through the pandemic how important regular physical activity and connection exercising with other people was to her.
Through that, she began running her own self-led workouts in the park, and eventually decided to open her own women's only fitness facility in South Surrey, BC called Goodbrand Fitness. They offer a variety of classes for women including bootcamps, zumba, yoga, foam rolling, and more!
Gabby's vision and approach to health, wellness and fitness is fascinating and will be sure to have an impact on your life if you are feeling in a fitness rut!

#43 - Why I Switched My Practice From Weight Loss to Food Freedom
A few days ago, I made an Instagram post re-introducing myself. I shared in this post that I work currently as a Food Freedom Nutritionist, but some of you may have been following me since I started my coaching company back in 2020. At that point, I was actually working as a weight loss coach - both with personal training and nutrition services.
For some of you, this may be shocking, and for others, you may be wondering what happened. I wanted to take today's episode to explain why I made such a drastic transition from coaching weight loss, to coaching in a weight inclusive, anti-diet, food freedom space.
In the episode, I talk about:
- Why I switched my degree from biological sciences to nutrition sciences
- Why I decided I wanted to become a dietitian
- Why I didn't do a dietetics practicum
- How I got into the weight loss industry
- The fears I had about transitioning into food freedom & intuitive eating
- My values and how they helped guide my decision
If you haven't already listened to Episode #1 this will help provide some context for you as well!

#41 - Give Yourself a Hall Pass
Today's episode is inspired by some post-vacation reflections. We all know how routine is difficult to keep up when on vacation, during holiday seasons and even on weekends. I want to invite you to let go of the need to control the routine, and to not feel the need to justify your habits changing when life changes.
The "hall pass mentality" that I chat about is really about embracing permission to enjoy your experiences without succumbing to the all or nothing mindset that often has us feeling like we have to make up for our poor choices while on vacation. If you relate to this back and forth battle, or the stress of trying to uphold routines, this episode is for you!
We chat about:
- What a hall pass mentality is
- 2 reasons why I think giving yourself a hall pass is important
- How to balance enjoying weekends, vacation, etc. without feeling like you are letting yourself go
- What the addition principle is and how it can help with a hall pass

#37 - I'll Just Eat Donuts and Doritos All Day
Have you ever thought about trying to give yourself permission to eat without food rules, but feel like you will just end up eating donuts, doritos, cookies or chips all day? The food we may commonly (and unwarrantedly) refer to as "crap".
Or maybe, you've actually tried just eating. No food rules, no meals plans. What we would consider "eating intuitively" and you did in fact end up over indulging on all the sweet and salty treats.
I hear this far too often - and I know it is a huge barrier for women who are ready to ditch diet culture, but also fear the implications of a whole donut diet.
In the episode, we chat about:
- Why we end up eating all the "crap" when we stop dieting
- How to resolve this
- What intuitive eating is, and what it isn't
- The first step to start a SUCCESSFUL intuitive eating journey

#35 - Healthy or Diet-y?
A few days ago I got chatting with my neighbour about her belly fat. She was sharing how upset she is that she just can't seem to get rid of it, despite doing all the right things - working out 5 days a week, eating clean, minimizing carbs. She's even tried intermittent fasting, and nothing seems to work. Sound familiar? This is a story I have heard all too often, and I know it is not an uncommon experience.
In today's episode, we dive into the why's, the what's and the myths (hence the title). Are all the things we believe to be doing "right" actually doing more harm than good?
We chat about
- Low carb/keto
- Clean eating
- Intermittent fasting
- And most importantly, why we experience the belly fat blues to begin with

#34 - Transformation Series: Dieting For Weight Loss to Food & Body Freedom with Kate Reid
My beautiful friend and current client in the Food & Body Freedom Course - Kate Reid - joins me to share her journey from being a chronic dieter for decades, to fully embracing her body and learning to be an intuitive eater. Growing up in the 80's, Kate was no stranger to all the fad diets that most of us know so well; weight waters, slimfast, juice cleanses, detoxes, calorie counting, fasting, cutting fat, cutting carbs. You name it, she's done it. Kate started becoming aware of her body - and what about it was not socially acceptable - at a very young age, but has finally - decades later - been able to overcome the obsession with "healthy eating" and following the ever changing health trends. She shares her best tips and trick to getting from a place of never feeling good enough and always wanting to lose weight, to living in total food and body freedom.
We chat about:
- How growing up in an ingredient home with a mom who was built very different, transpired into disordered eating and dieting
- Why we place so much emphasis on our appearance and the pursuit of weight loss for confidence
- The role of therapy and a support system in moving from a dieting lifestyle to an intuitive eating one
- How to feel comfortable with all foods so that you don't have to keep them out of the house to prevent binging
- Coping with food guilt and negative self talk
- Overcoming the fear of weight gain
This is going to be such an expansive and empowering episode for anyone who is sick and tired of the dieting cycle that continues to leave you feeling not good enough, lacking willpower, or needing to fix yourself. #31 - 3 Meal Planning Tips for EASY Nutrition
Have you felt tempted to hop on the meal planning bandwagon, but feel confused about where to even start, or what is the right way to go about it?
Or maybe, you've tried meal planning in the past, but it never seems to work for you?
Our society (and specifically diet culture) does a great job of making meal planning and prepping feel like it is awarded a badge of honour. But only when you do it the exact right way and ensure everything is healthy and fits your macros.
We aren't going there today. In fact, we are going a much more balanced, stress free and non-obsessive direction (of course).
In today's episode, we chat about:
- What meal planning is
- What meal planning is NOT (I'm sure some of these will shock you)
- Why meal planning can support a healthy lifestyle and how it can help improve your relationship with food
- 3 tips for a successful meal planning practice
- MY FREE MEAL PLANNING GUIDE
If you want to get your hands on the guide, head over to instagram and DM me "MEAL PLANNING GUIDE" and I will send it your way!

#30 - Overcoming Binge Eating
How many times have you said "I'll just have one cookie". And before you know it, you've finished the whole pack?
How many times have you felt super on track with your diet, only to end up perched in the pantry after everyone goes to bed?
Do you identify as an emotional eater?
If so, you are not alone. I have experienced all of the above, as have most of the women I work with.
Binge eating isn't a topic that we often chat about lightly, or a struggle that we can comfortably bring up with our friends. But it is an example of how we are all more alike than we are different.
It's also a struggle that can feel like a never ending cycle. One step forward and two steps back.
On today's episode, we chat about
- My history with bulimia and binge eating
- Tools that I've used in the past for binge eating
- Why we stay on the binge-restrict roller coaster
- The pink elephant paradox
- A powerful tool to overcome binge eating
If you know someone who needs to hear this conversation, I would love for you to share it with them!

#29 - Overcoming the Fear of Weight Gain
If you asked me 5 years ago what my biggest fear was, I would've said gaining weight. At the time, I didn't know why, but this fear absolutely kept me entrenched in diet culture, and feeling the need to control my food.
It perpetuated those feelings of being out of control when I wasn't able to track everything, or if I didn't know the ingredients of a particular meal.
It made me feel anxious to go out and eat anything that wouldn't comply with my diet.
And it took me YEARS to understand why this is.
The fear of gaining weight is the #1 reason I see women struggling to embrace an intuitive eating lifestyle.
But it doesn't have to hold you back anymore!
On today's episode, we chat about
- Weight stigma in our society
- Some of the reasons we may fear gaining weight
- The 6 underlying fears
- An exercise to start to shift away from this fear
- Boundaries to set

#28 - 3 DAILY Rituals for a Healthy Body Image
There is no denying that poor body image and chronic dieting are a current epidemic. An epidemic that really isn't talking about enough, and is a challenging one to navigate because the prescription for wellness isn't a quick fix.
For those of us who are coming to the realization that the food & body narratives need to change, the struggle is figuring out how to do that with decades of programming that striving to control how we look is the path to success, happiness and fulfillment.
In this episode, I offer you some practices you can implement TODAY to start rewiring your beliefs about your body.
This is not a conversation of being body positive, but rather a conversation of how to find acceptance with where we are through all season of our lives.
The journey to self love is a winding, hilly road, and I am still on it! So please have grace with yourself, have compassion on the days that you may not love the skin you're in, but also know that you don't have to love yourself to respect yourself.
Chatted about in the episode:
- Gratitude
- Joyful movement
- Wearing clothes that fit
- Non-physical affirmations
- Getting rid of the scale
- Journal prompts for a neutral body image
