In this episode I speak about how I've been hard on myself for my whole life, since I was a kid and some things that I do now that help me to not be so hard on myself.
When I had my breakdown back in 2020, and I discovered the podcast "The HSP Podcast by Julie Bjelland", I learned that it's the absolute worst for sensitives and highly sensitive people to be hard on ourselves.
Don't get me wrong, we're all works in progress and it's a "constant battle" and it's easier said than done.

I recorded this episode before the US's Martin Luther King Jr. holiday which was on Monday, January 15, 2024 but due to perfectionism and urgent life matters am just able to publish/release it.
It will come out during Black History Month (the month of February) in the US so it's still fitting for me to publish it now. :)
I have so many freedoms due to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Freedom Fighters and everyone else who helped to get the Civil Rights Act in 1964 to pass as well as the Voting Rights Act to pass in 1965.
In this episode I am thanking Dr. Reverand Martin Luther King Jr., and everyone who helped to make my freedoms possible today!
I hope you enjoy this episode and learn something new (as I did) when I did research to record this episode.

I'm not supposed to be here...there were many times in my life where I've felt a 'nudge' of "I'm not supposed to be here".
Right now I'm speaking about a job.
Whether it's a day job or a relationship, a friendship or even your current residence, when we get that 'nudge' and it's a whisper, let's not let it get to the 'screaming' inner voice as Oprah says... "listen to the whisper".
Life is too short to feel 'uninvited', or 'ignored', or 'unappreciated'. Let's listen from the beginning to that whisper and start to make moves right away.
I talk more about this inner knowing and nudges on this episode.

Join my Love Letters (Newsletter) here! (Where I send words of encouragement, tips, deals and freebies to you before anyone else!) My 'Work How You Are' (WHYA) Podcast Series has finally arrived, and this is the sixth and final interview! Woohoo!!!
Starting the year off right and what better than with 'self-care and support systems in life and in business'! ~~~~~~~~~~~ My Podcast Series/Audio Summit will be talking about 'Working How YOU Are'.
I got this idea because a lot of jargon in the online biz world is "this worked for me so it will work for YOU" when we're all individuals and a lot of us are multi-passionates and we don't want to effing "niche down". Lol!
I felt like "why do these programs seem to work for everyone else but not me?" "Am I broken?" And "what's wrong with me?"
We're not broken y'all...the 'process' is!
Because we're all individuals and what works best for one of us doesn't mean that it will work best for all of us. Can I get an Amen? ....for example, I am an introvert, and a highly sensitive person and an empath, a Manifesting-Generator in Human Design and most recently, that I have an ADHD brain (!) One speaker will talk about 'Shiny Object' and why it's not a "bad" thing, One speaker will talk about working with ADHD, And another on working as an Introvert in an Extroverted world, and many more! ~~~~~~~~~~~ I met Punam at the She Podcasts Live event a couple of years back.
I remember her vividly because her 'speaking session' was so engaging, and it kept my attention the whole time!
From her talking about her family at the beginning to her bingo cards where it gave audience members a chance to answer questions to the way that she spoke with excitement and empathy during her session -- it was one of the best sessions that I've attended at the event not to mention ever. :)
And coming from someone that has ADHD, anything that keeps my attention is always a major feat! ;-)
After Punam's session I stuck around to talk to her and to let her know how much I enjoyed her session and we've been 'biz buddies' ever since!
I hope to have Punam on again to talk more about her 'fighting' for her students as far as education is concerned with a 'no child left behind' type of philosophy, her doctorate degree, as well as growing up in rural Georgia and being the only Indians in the area. "Wow, right?!"

I found out later in life that I was/am an introvert and I am so grateful that I did! "Better late than never!"
One of my fave Dr. Maya Angelou quotes "When you know better, you do better."
Before this knowledge I never recharged and with that along with working in extroverted jobs and being a caretaker for fourteen years I had poor mental health and bouts with depression.
I name some of my fave resources that have helped me regarding introversion and I also name a lot of podcast episodes that I have in which I share my journey as well as tips and information that have helped me immensely. :)

My Podcast Series/Audio Summit will be talking about 'Working How YOU Are'.

I met Michelle a year ago at an entrepreneur type of conference, well actually it was the day after when some of the attendees met for coffee the next morning.
It was interesting because my instincts told me not only to attend this conference but also to attend this coffee 'event' the next morning. I almost didn't go to the coffee event but boy am I glad that I did!
I ended up meeting Michelle and three other wonderful ladies...we became fast friends and the rest is history!
I ended up joining Michelle's community called 'Say Yes to Desire' (formerly called 'Planner Girl Insiders') and I must say Michelle is a breath of fresh air!
She designs her life and business around what lights her up and not on what others might want thus putting herself last! It's all about self-first and really self-love.
I've listened to this episode 3-4 times already and I'm sure I will listen to it many, many more times. There are so many gems in this episode! "You're welcome". ;-)

Ep 75 Surviving During the Holidays as an Introvert 2023
So I had an episode last year titled 'Coping during the holidays as an introvert and an HSP' but I put it out later than I anticipated. I have new deets and tips that I wanted to add and some that I wanted to omit from last year and I wanted it to be more consise as well as separated into three categories.

Those work holiday parties and family gatherings that we have a choice to attend but we want to 'show face' or support the friend or family member throwing it.
(Hint: Ask to help out or find a quiet area or corner of the house or step outside for a 'breather' until you're at your capacity and/or you can leave with a 'clean slate'.
C: If you're away from family (location wise) due to work for example but you wanted to be with your family and friends.
There's Friendsgiving and hopefully a new term to start, Friends-mas anyone? ;-)
D: Non-people-ing
(Maybe you work in an extroverted job and this is your only day to yourself and you couldn't visit your family or you didn't want to make a visit this year!)
This is YOUR day! You can order-in and stream a flick or go to eat at a Chinese restaurant for example. Take a load off and 'recharge'! After all you'll be back at your 'extroverted job' the day after Thanksgiving or Xmas!

Ep 72 How to Cope When World Events Are So Disheartening - A Love Letter to Highly Sensitives
Hello...thanks for listening!
There are a lot of world events and domestic events going on right now (I'm in the US) and it can be a lot especially if you're an empath and/or a highly sensitive person (HSP).
I suggest the below so that we don't deplete our energies.
Things hit us much more deeply than those that are not these traits, so it is absolutely imperative that we take care of ourselves and love on ourselves right now.
1. Limit your news consumption.
2. Remove notifications from your phone.
3. Fill Your Cup First / Fill Your Battery First
There is a quote that a friend of mine told me recently that goes as follows..."our cups are for us and what is in the saucer is for everyone else".
4. Get some type of physical activity in. Something is better than nothing.
5. Get outside / get outdoors
Even if you only have time to 'inhale and exhale' for 5 minutes it will make a huge difference.
What do you love to do? Do more of this. This will energize your battery and fill your cup.
For example, I enjoy connecting with my loved ones and watching movies and listening to books and podcasts. These fill my cup so that I can be my best to others.
Filling our cups / batteries are absolutely imperative.

Ep 71 Your Instincts Are 'Reason' Enough

Your/Our instincts are reason enough. They really are.
Throughout my life (like when I moved away from my hometown years ago)...I was always asked "Why are you doing this?" or "Why are you doing that?".
And when I was younger, I'd try to 'appease' those asking and make up reasons which by the way no one likes to be interrogated....no one. But I'd make up reasons or say something more accepted by society that seemed more 'logical' in answering why like (for a job) for example.
As I'm getting older...I'm telling it like it is and am just answering "because I'm following my instincts".
It's our lives and we're grown and like a friend of mine says, Michelle Rohr, who has a program called 'Say Yes to Desire' which is an amazing program! She says, "we can do things just because we want to" it doesn't have to be this huge 'deal' that we have to make 'sense' of or to explain to someone else, before we do!

...There are still over 2 months left in the year and I'm 'dotting my i's and crossing my t's' as we speak!
And I feel like although I'm not fully free, I feel like I'll have taken strides to go in the direction (sooner than later) to one day be financially free doing what I love and have total freedom which is for me is to be able to do what I want, when I want! :)

Ep 68 Asking For Help
Hello…thanks for listening!
Asking for help. I still hate it y'all. But I'm much, much better than I used to be! Before I'd rather 'suffer' than ask...it's like I was a 'glutton for punishment of something! :(
This time around I AM asking and I'm asking earlier as opposed to waiting until the last minute. A couple of big strides I've taken thankfully.
One of my friends told me this quote...I had given her a ride home either to or from somewhere and she was trying to thank me by giving me gas money (I believe it was). And I said "oh it's not a problem, keep your money!". And she said "don't stop your blessings". I was like "wha?" and she said "I'm trying to bless you and thank you, please let me". And then she went on to say "how would you feel if someone did that to you?" And I thought about it and I said "I'd feel bad". This was a 'wake-up' call for me. I need to ask for help more often, not stop others blessings unto me and remember how I'd feel if someone was trying to stop *my blessings.
It's human nature to wanna help others and when we do we feel so good don't we? Why I love to volunteer for example!
Let's all ask for help more!

What season are you in? I'm going to be going through a major change but yet I have some grand ideas on projects that I want to launch too!
Since I'm in a season of a big change, I'm still going to launch something as opposed to launching nothing but I'm going to do it on a much smaller scale and I'm okay with that. :)
I went back and forth for a while trying to figure out what I should do. "Should I wait?" or "Should I just launch it on the grand scale that I first imagined?" or ??
Waiting to launch felt like a 'cop out' like I was putting myself last yet again...then I realized....I can launch something just on a much smaller scale. Perfect!

Ep 63 Extrovert vs Introvert - Did You Know That There's Only One Difference? | SoSA
Hello…thanks for listening! What is the Difference Between an Extrovert and an Introvert? Spoiler Alert! It's spectral and we're all a bit of both! The only difference between an extrovert and an introvert or someone (more) extroverted or (more) introverted is in HOW WE RECHARGE - that is it! Is your mind blown yet? When I discovered this, I knew I was an introvert! Before I made this 'discovery' about myself I swore I was an extrovert because I've always been very outgoing, had many friends, etc. But I've always (also) been a "hermit" when I'm at my capacity. My friends knew that after they'd see me a lot at many events in a row...they wouldn't see me for a while after that. haha! And there are shy extroverts and outgoing introverts, I'm an outgoing introvert! When I'm at my capacity I just need to recharge. And half of the population are introverts so if you're not one (or more introverted) chances are one or more of your siblings are or one or both of your parents and/or kids are and one or more of your friends definitely is! We all need alone time to think and to recharge, period, even if you ARE an extrovert! Extroverts recharge by being around many people, in bigger groups, etc. Introverts recharge by being in smaller groups, one-on-one's and by being alone. ....Introverts get falsely accused of being called 'antisocial' or 'shy' when those words are absolutely incorrect. First of all, being antisocial is a mental disorder. I heard this phrase from one of the organizers (or it may have been the founder) of the group Introverted Girlfriends on a podcast a couple of years back speaking about the difference between being shy and being an introvert... She said, "being an introvert is YOUR way, being shy is IN YOUR WAY. Boom! The book 'Quiet' by Susan Cain really helped to squash some stigma's about what being an introvert really is but that book is only 11 years old - it hasn't been that long y'all.

Even though 50% of the population are introverts, we live in an 'extroverted world' where the 'loudest person' gets applause and the 'quiet deep thinker' doesn't. What is the difference between an Empath and an HSP?
As I'm doing more research on this question, I'm noticing that one of the few differences between a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and an Empath is that Empath's can absorb others' energy. So, if you think of being at your house chillin' and then getting a phone call from a friend that is 'griping' about their day...we would all of a sudden feel very stressed like 'we' were feeling this same emotion even though we are not (it's only because a person is telling us about how 'they' feel!) We (empaths) are so much like sponges since we absorb everyone else's emotions and energy. Other than this fact, there are many similarities between HSP's and Empath's. This is why Introverts and in addition HSP's and Empath's need to recharge as much as possible and to 'protect' and conserve our energy!

One of my fave quotes by Maya Angelou is "When you know better, you do better". I was always drained and exhausted for most of my life...I was a caretaker for many years (fourteen) and I never got a chance to do as one of my friends Mika said 'Self-Discovery' until the pandemic in the Fall of 2020. Wow, right?! I WISH I knew all of these traits about myself...I certainly would have 'done better' in taking self-care and in recharging which has created a sense of calm, relief and dare I say happiness in my life that I never have had before. :) Show Notes and Mentions: Racheal Cook's website:

Hello…thanks for listening! What is an Empath? As I'm doing more research on this question, I'm noticing that one of the few differences between a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and an Empath is that Empath's can absorb others' energy. Is this you?
- Are you easily overwhelmed by such things as bright lights, strong smells, coarse fabrics, or sirens nearby?
- Do you get rattled when you have a lot to do in a short amount of time?
- Do you make a point of avoiding violent movies and TV shows?
- Do you need to withdraw during busy days, into bed or a darkened room or some other place where you can have privacy and relief from the situation?
- Do you make it a high priority to arrange your life to avoid upsetting or overwhelming situations?
- Do you notice or enjoy delicate or fine scents, tastes, sounds, or works of art?

- When you were a child, did your parents or teachers see you as sensitive or shy?
(Extroverts can also be HSP's but the stats show that a lot more Introverts are usually also HSP's!)

In my words I’d describe it as a ‘blueprint’ of your characteristics and traits based on your birth location and time to the minute. And it goes according to where the stars and the moon were when you were born so you can’t ‘maneuver’ it like other assessments for example.

It’s a logical system that brings together principles of The I Ching, astrology, Kabbalah, Hindu-Brahmin chakra system, and quantum physics. Your Human Design Chart, also called a BodyGraph, is calculated using your birth date, time, and place, to reveal your genetic design.
On the most practical level, Human Design shows you where and how to access your body’s consciousness as a decision-making tool, and ultimately, how to live as your true self. Human Design offers a map, or a manual, that indicates how you are unique as a person, and guides you in living in a manner that is in sync with who you are. When we live in alignment with our true nature, we begin to experience a level of comfort and acceptance for who we are, instead of chasing who we are not—and we’re able to live out our real purpose in the world.
