Mark Divine Discusses the Potential of an Unbeatable Mind in Evolving Consciousness & Allowing Us to Access Love - Episode #61

This week, Mark Divine joins The Unveil Podcast to discuss his philosophy of how powerful the mind is to drive personal evolution, and the evolution of consciousness.

Mark Divine is an entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author, philanthropist, and one of the world’s top leadership and coaching experts.

After a successful 20 year career as a Navy SEAL and SEAL Commander, Mark was hired by the Navy to create a nationwide coaching and leadership program for the SEALs. Divine’s leadership and coaching program for the SEALs was so effective that it’s now being used outside of the Navy by top CEOs, Fortune 100 companies, USA Olympics, elite universities, major league sports franchises, celebrities, and successful individuals from all over the world.

Mark Divine is the author of 5 best-selling books, including his latest book Staring Down The Wolf: 7 Leadership Commitments That Forge Elite Teams. Recently Divine and his Courage Foundation team set a world record by completing over 22 million burpees to raise awareness, support, and funding for our Veteran heroes.

Today’s episode shares the pinnacle of Mark’s philosophy - that the mind is the most powerful tool we have to support our embodied self-awareness, which can lead us to a deeper awareness, and accessing the truth of who we are as individuals, as a collective, and as a consciousness.

Mark also discusses his vision of the future - where we’re heading with the breakdown of institutions, and the incarnation and evolution of those here to support the bigger mission and movement of humanity.

This is an exceptional and wide-ranging, philosophical discussion with a thought leader, and a compassionate warrior sage. Enjoy!

Exploring Birth, Conception, Pregnancy and Healing - and the Wisdom Gained from Plant Medicines to Support our Human Incarnation - with Victoria Rose - Episode #59

Exploring Birth, Conception, Pregnancy and Healing - and the Wisdom Gained from Plant Medicines to Support our Human Incarnation - with Victoria Rose - Episode #59

Today, The Unveil Podcast welcomes another Victoria - Victoria Rose - certified pre- and perinatal educator, birth visionary, traditional birth witness and consultant, reiki master for fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum, ayahuasca preparation and integration specialist, and founder of Luminous Birth.

Victoria guides adults back to heal and deeply re-imprint their own birth, pre-birth, conception and pre-conception experiences as an effective way resolving fertility blockages, consciously conceiving, and coming back into right-relationship with nature, pregnancy, birth and life.

Victoria has been deeply steeped in ancient amazonian healing traditions for nearly a decade. She’s completed many “Master Plant Dieta’s” and has spent extensive periods of time learning and working alongside her teachers, indigenous master healers. Her experience in the jungle has included working as a retreat facilitator at Riosbo Healing and Research Center, where the first-ever government funded epigenetic studies are being hosted - looking at the impacts of Ayahuasca on mental health and DNA expression, specifically related to early childhood trauma.

Victoria passionately and authentically weaves the wisdom of plant consciousness, pre- and perinatal psychology and health, and sacred birthing in a way that welcomes a new and sophisticated language of healing and evokes true inspiration for our capacity to create a new world.

This is what the Victorias discuss on today’s episode - in-depth observations on the nature of birth, transitions, integration and the wisdom of earth medicine to inform the human experience.

Victoria Rose shares how wisdom gained from the experiences of plant-led initiations are similar to the human birthing (and dying) stories. And she shares her growing work around shepherding the integration and evolution of individuals and families through the reclaiming of their own brith stories to nurture themselves, and the humans they are bringing to the world.

Teachers of children and parents, they are also teachers of other teachers (undergrad and graduate master’s students), many of whom went on to start their own schools in the USA and Canada using Natural Learning Relationships child development and holistic approaches in their teaching practice. They founded two non-profit organizations dedicated to awakening the greatness in humanity.

The Practice of Embodying Emotions, Working with the Subtle Bodies & Transforming Trauma - with Dr Raja Selvam PhD - Episode #57

The Practice of Embodying Emotions, Working with the Subtle Bodies & Transforming Trauma - with Dr Raja Selvam PhD - Episode #57

Today's episode offers a window into truly integrative healing modalities, through the lens of Integrative Somatic Psychology™, with Dr Raja Selvam, PhD.

During this episode, Victoria chats to Raja about:

  • how embodying emotions has become foundational to transformational development work and healing from the imprint of trauma
  • the work of embodying emotions and how Raja uses this personally to support his movement through life
  • the real needs for healing
  • integrating modalities and how to bridge the worlds of psychotherapy and the physiological diagnoses
  • "psychosomatic" illness - what it really is and where it really comes from
  • the acceleration possible when emotional embodiment and energy work is brought into the therapeutic container

And so, so much more. This episode is peppered with great insights from one of the pioneers of integrative, somatic healing modalities - and a rich source of support for anyone either training in this field, or who would like support for their own personal process.

Dr. Raja Selvam, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist from the US, is the developer of Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP) (a complementary therapeutic approach based on affective neuroscience and the emerging paradigm of embodied cognition, emotion, and behavior in cognitive neuroscience and psychology) to improve cognitive, emotional, behavioral, physical, energetic, relational, and spiritual outcomes in all therapy modalities. Dr. Selvam is also a senior trainer in Dr. Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing (SE) Professional Trauma Training Program. He has taught for twenty-five years in nearly as many countries in North and South Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and the Far East. His work is informed by older body psychotherapy systems of Reichian Therapy and Bioenergetic Analysis, newer body psychotherapy systems of Bodynamic Analysis and Somatic Experiencing, and bodywork systems of Postural Integration and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. His work is also inspired by Jungian and archetypal psychologies, Kleinian and intersubjective schools of psychoanalysis, affective neuroscience, quantum physics, yoga, Polarity Therapy, and Advaita Vedanta (a spiritual psychology from India). His book The Practice of Embodying Emotions: A Method for Improving Cognitive, Emotional, and Behavioral Outcomes was published on March 22, 2022.

Dr. Selvam's work also draws upon his clinical psychology PhD dissertation on Advaita Vedanta and Jungian psychology, based on which he has published an article titled “Jung and Consciousness,” in the international analytical psychology journal Spring in 2013. He did trauma outreach work in India in 2005–2006 with survivors of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, based on which he has published an outcome study titled “Somatic Therapy Treatment Effects with Tsunami Survivors,” in the journal Traumatology in 2008. Dr. Selvam’s work is also inspired by the work he did in Sri Lanka in 2011–2013 with survivors of war, violence, loss, and displacement, and with mental health professionals engaged in treating them, after Sri Lanka's thirty-year civil war ended in 2009.

The Real Solution to Healing Humanity - and What Maté, Levine, Porges, and those focusing on trauma, might be missing - with Stuart Sovatsky, Episode #55

This week, The Unveil Podcast welcomes Stuart Sovatsky.

He is author of Advanced Spiritual Intimacy and Words From The Soul.

This conversations explores Stuart's history, whilst also examining his perspective on what is essential for the future of humanity. Victoria and Stuart cover:

  • What authentic tantra offers as a chemical, emotional and consciousness experience - and how that has the potential to transform intimacy as we know it
  • The implications of a transformation of intimacy - everything from ending child abuse to preventing the need for abortion, through to conscious conception and the prevention of trauma through the embodied presence of the parents
  • How short the modern world falls when it comes to its understanding of kundalini, tantra and all ancient traditions
  • The chemistry of tantra and how this ties to the modern scientific research now being conducted into chemicals
  • Exactly how Stuart prevented a mass shooter from enacting their plan, and supported those in the deepest of pain to emerge from their suffering - by NOT focusing on the trauma or past, but by encouraging and endorsing the miracle of their humanness
  • What leaders in the field (Gabor Maté, Peter Levine, Stephen Porges) are missing when it comes to resolving the problem of trauma
  • How to speak from the potential of human perspective, not human pain

This is a broad, immersive and expansive conversation where Victoria's mind and understanding is tested and stretched - as you will hear.

Kate Appleton, LPC, SEP, TEB has worked as a Special Ed Teacher, Community Counselor, Creative Coach, & Family Consultant. Kate is a contributing author to the recent Guidelines written for combining SE and SSP in clinical practice. Her work is informed by somatic-based approaches to healing that address the intersection of early developmental movement patterns and attachment, sensory integration theory with specific use of “sound” frequency modalities, traumatology, the use of creative expressive arts, and the archetypal exploration of the narrative.

As a psychotherapist, she integrates models such as Somatic Experiencing®, Embodied Recovery, Transforming Touch®, and Safe Sound Protocol, and IFS parts work.

During today's episode we dig into some of this, and we really explore the creativity Kate brings to her work with clients.

We discuss:

  • Attachment work in trauma and bonding
  • Making the formless (i.e. feelings and sensation) formed - and dancing between the veil of the formless and the formed
  • Creativity as a tool for healing - for both children and adults
  • The blending of modalities to support sustainable transformation
  • Sand tray work and how this can be used throughout therapeutic containers to support the awareness of what lies within us - and help us to see ways to transform
  • Finding oneself and the reality of the evolution journeys we are all on - personally and professionally
  • The retreat work and practitioner-specific work that Kate does with clients

This is one of the most mystical, and yet simultaneously most practical episodes of The Unveil Podcast we have ever released.

In just over an hour, Kate walks us all the way into the land of spirit consciousness and the energy of plants and stones - and then right back into actionable exercises you can do, today, both alone and with loved ones, to find clarity around and support repair in your attachment and relating styles.

Heart Rate Variability, Respiration Rate & How to Create an Adaptive Human System - with Dr Jack (JP) Ginsberg PhD - Episode #50

Heart Rate Variability, Respiration Rate & How to Create an Adaptive Human System - with Dr Jack (JP) Ginsberg PhD - Episode #50

Today we welcomed Dr Jack Ginsberg PhD to The Unveil Podcast for an in-depth discussion into his primary areas of research: heart rate variability and heart rate variability feedback.

Dr. Ginsberg earned a B.S. in Biology cum laude from Yale University,  an M.A. in Anthropology from Brandeis University and in Psychology from Boston College, and a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Memphis (TN). Presently he is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist in South Carolina after retiring from the Columbia (SC) VA hospital in 2019. He is currently adjunct faculty at Saybrook University (departments of Applied Psychophysiology, Clinical Psychology, and Research) and Research Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

Dr. Ginsberg  has been a PI, Co-PI or Co-I on research grants from the DoD, VA, and NIH studying heart rate variability (HRV) and HRV biofeedback in patients with either chronic pain or PTSD. Currently he is collaborating with researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, Duke  University School of Medicine, and University of South Carolina School of Medicine on grant proposals under review by NIH and DoD to study heart rate variability and heart rate variability biofeedback.

During this exceptionally detailed, yet supremely simplifying podcast, Victoria and Dr Ginsberg talk about:

  • Dr Ginsberg’s history and progression into the field of heart rate variability studies, research and use in clinical practice
  • What heart rate variability actually is - and why it’s important
  • What heart rate variability is telling us about about someone’s orientation to the world around them
  • The realm of respiration and the relationship between respiration and heart rate variability (this is fascinating: a must-listen for anyone who breathes… which is everyone!)
  • What biofeedback is - especially when it comes to heart rate variability
  • How to use emotional regulation to support change in nervous system state, and therefore heart rate variability, to increase adaptability for the individual

Whilst this is a very “regular person” discussion, we do also touch on the clinical application of heart rate variability within chronic pain conditions and PTSD. We also lightly cover the utilization of heart rate variability as a monitoring tool to track illness within populations.

We hope you enjoyed this podcast - and, as Victoria mentions in the outro, the HRV Institute are having their first ever annual conference, all details of which can be found by clicking this link here.

Total Self Mastery and the Evolution of a Nervous System in the Military - with retired Navy SEAL, Rob DuBois - Episode #48

Total Self Mastery and the Evolution of a Nervous System in the Military - with retired Navy SEAL, Rob DuBois - Episode #48

On this week’s Unveil Podcast, Victoria Fenton chats to Rob DuBois.

Rob DuBois is a multilingual retired U.S. Navy SEAL, intelligence professional, and career Red Team security leader. He has worked in more than 30 countries over more than 30 years.

From 1996 to 2006, Rob served as a special reconnaissance SEAL at SDV Team ONE and as a Red Team operator based in Washington, DC. He has trained foreign forces in a dozen nations and has planned mock terrorist attacks against American interests worldwide.

On 9/11 Rob was teaching Arab commandos at a remote Persian Gulf base. American and Arab SEALs together watched the Towers collapse, and both nations went to war against al Qaeda.

Such complex experiences led to his book on cross-cultural conflict, “Powerful Peace: A Navy SEAL's Lessons on Peace from a Lifetime at War.” World-renowned peak performance expert Tony Robbins called Powerful Peace "A must-read for those who wish to influence others."

Rob has spoken extensively on radio, on television, and in talks across the United States on “unchaining” human potential and leading diverse teams. He is the founder and lead "Impact Coach" of the whole-person development firm, Impact Actual.

During this conversation, Rob and Victoria discuss:

  • What led him to becoming a Navy SEAL, and what drove that passion even with a successful career in the NSA having been established
  • SEAL training, BUDS, Hell Week - and dispelling the myths of the ‘brutality’ and ‘inhumanity’ around this notorious training regimen
  • The psychological warfare of training to be a SEAL, including the enormous sacrifice made on behalf of those who are trained to “Red Team” - and what Red Teaming is
  • Rob’s personal journey of evolving from a childhood of trauma, into a career of hypervigilance, and now into a life where he channels appropriate vigilance into his security consulting work (as a Red Team professional himself), whilst also being in the continued work of modifying that vigilance to adapt back to civilian life
  • The losses and tragedies faced by Rob’s friends and brothers in the SEAL teams - and the weight of the reality of survivor’s remorse and hindsight about decision making
  • The training of decision making in the military, and the necessity of the methods utilized at BUDS

This is a powerful, moving, deeply impactful conversation - as you would expect from someone who spearheads a Total Human Mastery approach at his company, Impact Actual.

Energy Crisis, Ukraine War, Woke Culture - What's Wrong with Modern Humanity, with Will Rezin - Episode #47

On today’s episode of The Unveil Podcast, Victoria Fenton chats to Will Rezin about the state of modern humanity. Taking the current situation in the UK, Europe, and then the rest of the world, as their jumping off point, this discussion takes you on a journey through the root cause of some of the world’s greatest problems.

Will and Victoria discuss:

  • The current situation in the UK (and globally) with energy poverty and massive increases in household bills, coupled with the latest selection of a new Prime Minister and Cabinet… that nobody seemed to want to lead
  • The factions that are being set up wherein conversation and healthy debate has been lost to arguments and mudslinging, and the lack of intellectual debate coupled with the promotion of ‘dumbed down’ culture
  • The policing of free speech, in pursuit of political correctness - and how our ability to be in contact with reality is being hampered by our need to not fall prey to cancel culture

This is a conversation from the perspective of two people who work with human beings, and have made a life’s study of the complexity of the human condition. Therefore, Will and Victoria move into commenting on:

  • WHY this is happening
  • Where these themes are coming from
  • What this says about our cultures, and humanity - and what the prognosis is if things continue without changing
  • The solutions (potentially, and hopefully) to the divisiveness and extremes

Given Will and Victoria’s work: this is a conversation about trauma, suppression of emotions and the policing of thought - and it is a discussion about the underlying mechanisms and the bedrock of fear upon which all of these patterns are built.

Please enjoy this wide-ranging and bold conversation as Will and Victoria shine a light on the pain, suffering and trauma at the heart of how modern humanity is showing up.

From Functional Medicine to Psychedelics, Psilocybin and Breathwork: Done Right - with Alex Manos - Episode #46

From Functional Medicine to Psychedelics, Psilocybin and Breathwork: Done Right - with Alex Manos - Episode #46

This week’s episode sees Victoria Fenton reunited with her colleague and friend, Alex Manos as he shares with her (and all of you!) his journey from personal illness, to becoming a Personal Trainer, into a nutrition professional and ultimately Functional Medicine practitioner - and from there into both breathwork and psychedelic facilitation training.

Victoria and Alex discuss:

  • Why psychedelics - especially psilocybin - and what Alex’s experiences with The Synthesis Institute have provided him
  • The journey towards feeling more emotion with psilocybin experiences
  • The current movement of promotion of psychedelics and how that needs to be balanced with temperance and care, and a focus on community and integration
  • The contrast between the Western medical approach and the indigenous, shamanistic traditions
  • The growth of psychedelic experimentation in the UK and Europe
  • The power of psychedelics for shifting someone into a different way of being - and the destruction and grief that can be part of that process
  • Breathwork - its role, power, potential, and how to do this right (clue: it’s not about the big emotional release)
  • Integrating breathwork into psilocybin retreats and Alex’s vision for his professional future
  • The limitations of Functional Medicine and dependency on protocols
  • The felt sense of safety and its fundamental role in healing, irrespective of modality

Despite being one of the UK's leading Functional Medicine Practitioners (IFMCP) with a focus in gut health and mould Illness, Alex's interests further extend into physical therapy, movement, resiliency, coaching, biohacking, psychedelics, breathwork, masculinity, spirituality, and the assimilation or ancient wisdom concerning health.

Away from clinic, Alex co-founded Healthpath Pro and The Applied Function Medicine Mentoring Program, and is the Chief Wellness Officer for Exhale Coffee - the U.K's healthiest coffee! Alex also lectures at various colleges and institutions including The Institute Of Optimum Nutrition and is on the MSc program at The Centre For Nutritional Education and Lifestyle Management.

Creating a Successful, Thriving Family, with Cole Berschback of Total Potential - Episode #45

Creating a Successful, Thriving Family, with Cole Berschback of Total Potential - Episode #45

This week’s Unveil Podcast sees Victoria Fenton sit down with Cole Berschback.

Cole is co-founder of Total Potential, an author, Unbeatable Mind Coach, Registered Dietitian, and certified yoga instructor. She is the mom of three incredible kids and married to her favorite human. She has spent the past 20 years working in health and wellness.

Several formative events led to a deep passion for families and all that is possible when we approach the family as an opportunity, not an obstacle. She supports group and 1:1 coaching to help individuals experience the best of themselves with the people they love most.

This episode dives into all of this - discussing Cole’s history and what led her into creating Total Potential with her brother, Jake. She shares:

  • The inspiration for Total Potential, the families they serve and the kinds of resources available
  • The “families are hard and provide obstacles” perspective and how to turn that on its head
  • How to create nourishing and supportive, connected families
  • Cole’s own family dynamic and the challenges and gifts provided by each of her unique children
  • Supporting a child who is highly sensitive and the learning curve she has been through to expand and allow for more emotionality
  • How to help a child who is a “fussy eater”, and how to think about food differently to aid them in increasing the diversity of their intake
  • How to reward children in a way that is completely supportive (clue: NOT with food!)

This is a wide ranging conversation during which - as you’ll hear - Victoria’s own perspective on children, families and her future shifts somewhat.

We apologize that this podcast is audio-only, and not our usual quality. We had technical issues and have done the best we can to salvage this conversation as it was such good value, and Cole delivered so many nuggets of wisdom. Please enjoy - and check out Cole in the following places:

Healing with the Help of Laser Therapy - with Ellen Day of Elite Laser Austin - Episode #44

In a special in-person interview, our host Victoria Fenton sits down with Ellen Day.

Ellen is the owner of Elite Laser Austin, Austin’s only laser therapy clinic exclusively dedicated to healing through laser therapy. In her practice, she supports professional athletes, weekend warriors, investors, elite youth athletes, doctors and surgeons, and everything in between, and offers post operative surgical care to speed up the healing process.

Ellen had an illustrious career in sales, working in oil & gas, tech, and finally in pharmaceuticals. Ellen is passionate about educating people on the benefits of laser therapy. She loves helping the body to heal faster by utilizing light energy to activate the cellular regenerative process, and is on a personal mission to have post-operative care for patients be given as much consideration as surgical prep, to optimize patients’ post-operative healing experiences.

This podcast offers an exploration of ALL of the above (and more!) as Victoria and Ellen discuss:

  • the science of laser therapy
  • applications and the results possible by adding laser therapy into treatment
  • the athlete population and the application of laser therapy into training and recovery regimens

How to Develop Emotional Resilience and Coherence - Episode #43

How to Develop Emotional Resilience and Coherence - Episode #43

Another solo episode from Victoria this week as she walks you through her model for what she calls “emotional hygiene” - the practice of becoming clear on one’s emotional landscape prior to interacting with others.

Victoria walks you through:

  • Why emotional regulation isn’t always desired
  • How Non-Violent Communication can go very wrong if regulation isn’t present
  • Her analogy and model around creating emotional hygiene - including a practical how-to on establishing emotional clarity, developing an emotional sorting process and a decision-making pattern of what to take from that forward into conversation
  • The complexity of navigating emotional clarity and how to allow yourself the time and space to do this
  • Having whole conversations with people - and why we don’t
  • Attachment styles and how that changes the way we show up in intimate conversations, and why we often don’t have whole conversations or emotionally regulate effectively
  • How to change your behavior if emotional regulation and coherence is something that you find challenging

Stay tuned to the END this week for all of the Unveil updates, if you’re interested in how the podcast is evolving and the news from the Unveil team.

How to Sign Your Perfect Client - EVERY time - Episode #41

How to Sign Your Perfect Client - EVERY time - Episode #41

Today’s Unveil Podcast Episode is a solocast from our very own Victoria Fenton.

Victoria walks you through the transitions at Unveil and Aletheia - explaining what’s behind our recent moves and changes, and discussing where we’re going now.

Victoria uses this explanation to tie to the main topic of today’s episode: How to Sign Your Perfect Client - EVERY time.

This episode is inspired by the content Victoria is creating for our students at The Unveil Academy. This is the “business” side of coaching that people don’t necessarily think about - they just follow the latest marketing ‘advice’ and wonder why their clients don’t stay, and even create problems.

Victoria discusses:

  • The danger of “saying yes to opportunity”
  • The magic of discernment
  • The power of sovereignty but without looking at the bottom line, looking at what’s best for YOU (the professional)
  • Changing the agenda of discovery calls to actually be about discovery, not about selling
  • High pressure tactics vs. aligned discussions
  • What an Avatar should really be - and how you can identify yours
  • The nature of abundance and how a “no” to someone aligned doesn’t mean anything other than a “no” to the wrong thing for you
  • Returning agency to YOU as the professional
  • Scope of practice and building a network
  • Spotting red flags - can you? What are they? What should you notice?
  • Having difficult conversations
  • Touching on everyone’s trauma
  • Creating safe exits if things do go awry

Victoria reveals the mistakes she’s made in professional practice - both in Functional Medicine and coaching - and shows you how you can, no matter your industry, empower yourself to create more aligned partnerships and successful relationships.

Human Design Deep Dive - Episode #40

Human Design Deep Dive - Episode #40

If you have ever wondered what having a Human Design Deep Dive with a true professional (of over 20 years experience!) looks and feels like, this week’s episode is for you. Especially for any Manifestors, especially Emotional Manifestors. This week, Victoria Fenton gives you a window into how her mind works. She explains the full background to the Human Design Bodygraph, along with her trainings with Ra Uru Hu… and then she launches into a full, and immersive, explanation of her friend and Unveil colleague Brace Harris.

Now, Victoria has obviously given Brace overviews before - but she has never actually given him the Deep Dive immersive experience that people benefit from when they work with her directly. As you will witness, Brace has multiple insights into the way he’s been conditioned to behave, and how to move differently through the world from now on.

This isn’t just about Brace’s design, however. Victoria provides a window into:

  • Profiles
  • The 4 Types
  • What the auras of Human Design are all about
  • Why this is about “Decision Making”
  • The nature of openness
  • The instinct of the Spleen
  • Emotional Waves
  • The not-self strategies which breathe uncertainty into the way we move through life
  • How openness, profile lines and planetary information can create conflict
  • Informing as a strategy
  • Design Envy
  • 7 Year Deconditioning (is it really necessary?!)
  • The relationship between Human Design and Gene Keys
  • Summer School and what Victoria is going to be teaching on Gene Keys this August for our course attendees

And Victoria also shows you what Human Design is trying to achieve - the orientation to body awareness, and those who can get to “deconditioned” WITHOUT knowing their Design.

If you’ve ever wanted to witness what it’s like to watch someone weave with the archetypes of the Ancient I Ching and talk about a Bodygraph in a way that makes it come alive - THIS is the episode for you.

Brace’s chart image is here (though watch on YouTube for a better experience this week):

Mastering the Business of You - with James Williams- Episode #38

Mastering the Business of You - with James Williams- Episode #38

On today’s Unveil Podcast, Victoria Fenton is joined by fellow Brit and now fellow local Austinite, James Williams. James is a High Performance Coach - and we get into what that truly means during the interview.

James is, alongside his wife Emily, currently leading the Mastermind which our founder is a part of - and during this episode you will hear how James delivers immense service to those with whom he works.

We also get into James’s history. In 2015 James was on the tail end of a 12 year career that wasn’t bringing out the best in him, so he chose to make a change and go against the grain of what he was taught was possible. He left his old life to join his wife, Emily, in her online business, whilst training as a coach and studying. In 2016, a year to the day he left his old career, he was certified as a High Performance Coach through the Institute of High Performance.

Today, his strengths are in designing and communicating personal recipes for mental, emotional and physical growth. He is passionate about focusing on creating outer world impact through inner world mastery - and during this episode you will get a glimpse into James’s personal philosophy around the world of High Performance, and how that isn’t just about strategies and tactics, or adding the next best hack or gadget. Instead, it is all about two things: the present moment, and the business of you.

Enjoy today’s episode - and you can find James in a couple of places across the interwebs.

First, his personal coaching work can be found at The Growth Edge.

Secondly, he works with a lot of the programs run by Emily Williams over at I Heart My Life

Follow James on Instagram, or hunt him down on LinkedIn - he’s @jamesrswilliams

And stay tuned to James’s socials over the coming months - as he hints at during this episode, there’s some exciting things on the horizon for him!

Healing Addictions: WITHOUT the 12 Steps - Episode #37

Healing Addictions: WITHOUT the 12 Steps - Episode #37

Join Victoria and Brace this episode as they unpack addiction, in all its forms. They talk about:

  • What could be classified as an addiction, and whether the distinction of an addiction versus normal behavior should be more ‘grey’
  • The purpose of an addiction and the reasons addictions exist
  • The first step in moving through an addiction
  • The way the coaching container develops as addictions are addressed
  • How the complexities of addiction mean that you are ultimately dealing with initial ‘causes’ and multifaceted consequences - but how that really doesn’t mean that healing from addiction requires unpacking and apologizing for every consequence
  • The brilliance, and potential harm, within the 12 step process
  • The shame of addiction and how to work with that
  • The falseness of the statement “you are never healed”
  • The problem with the labels of addiction, sobriety and ‘Recovered’ addict

This is such a deep and explorative episode. Victoria takes the reigns as she describes her work with addicts and those with serious dependencies on substances. She walks you through her different approach which takes a trauma-informed lens when it comes to addiction: and the process of being more with oneself, and more with each single individual moment - which argues against the necessity of a cold turkey approach to overcoming substance dependence.

A hugely revelatory episode, we hope that this brings you some insights, awareness and different ways to think about addictions, addicts and your own addictive tendencies.

As always: like, subscribe, share - and this time, really importantly, if you know someone facing addiction, send this episode to them to offer some support.

How to Really Heart Your Life with Emily Williams, of I Heart My Life - Episode #36

How to Really Heart Your Life with Emily Williams, of I Heart My Life - Episode #36

On our first full interview episode, Victoria Fenton is joined by colleague, mentor and coach Emily Williams. Emily is a success coach, author, podcast host and CEO who, at one point, couldn’t get a job at Starbucks.

After experiencing a quarter-life crisis, she moved from Ohio to London (where she knew no one!) and in 2014 launched her company, I Heart My Life. She made $442 in her first month—and then went on to hit six figures in six months, before her 30th birthday. She grew her business into seven figures in under 18 months.

Today, Emily works with ambitious, heart-centered women all over the world in helping them bust through the obstacles that hold their dreams and goals hostage so they can free themselves to create a life that's better than their dreams through her company's membership, courses and retreats.

This episode covers that success story, in brief, but digs more into what Emily has been through in the last year with her business. After the success, what do you do when things don’t feel right anymore? How can you make the tough decisions which are in your heart, but - on the surface at least - look like they might threaten what you have built.

Emily is a friend of Unveil - and, as Victoria shares in the opening of the podcast, a VERY big part of how Victoria is able to be in the US and building what you see now. For that reason, it was important to the Unveil family to have Emily on FIRST, and to share with you her light, energy and her deeply infectious belief that absolutely anything is possible.

And, we’ll have him on the podcast soon, but if you want to know more about James - find him on social media @jamesrswilliams - and whilst he’s deeply involved in the work with Emily at I Heart My Life, you can explore his coaching work at The Growth Edge.

Shame: Where It Comes From, What it Affects, and How to Move Through It - Episode #35

Shame: Where It Comes From, What it Affects, and How to Move Through It - Episode #35

Today’s episode is a complex exploration of one of the most important topics, and experiences, that we as humans live through: Shame. All-pervasive and complex in its manifestations and results, shame can be obvious or subtle in the ways it shows up, maneuvers and even manipulates our lives.

Join Victoria Fenton and Brace Harris as they explore this topic in great depth, including a discussion of:

  • Why shame exists - and the difference between toxic shame and healthy shame
  • What makes shame toxic
  • The inextricable link between shame and trauma, and how it is often shame that interrupts the completion of the cycle of response to trauma, meaning that a trauma imprint is laid down
  • The many reaches of shame - and how it is linked to agency and the feeling of being in control
  • Real life examples of how one experience, with different context, can mean the difference between something creating shame, or not
  • The way to navigate through the landscape of personal shame: we give you the literal “how-to” of the dance of allowing shame to evaporate
  • The process of metabolizing shame
  • How Human Design can help in the movement through shame

This is a really deep episode in which Victoria leads you, the listener, through the dance with, around and through one of the most powerful influences within the whole of human experience. As ever, she shares deeply and personally about her relationship with, and current work on, her own shame.

Victoria also discusses - for the first time - her concept of shame in leadership, and her energetic movement into a leadership role which honors flaws and weaknesses without needing to feel ashamed of them just because she is in a position of leadership.

This is a truly deep and powerful episode, with a lot of wisdom and incredible insights shared from the Unveil Team.

Enjoy - like, subscribe, send to a friend - and spread the Unveil word if you feel so called.

Self-Sabotage: the Reasons we Stop Ourselves from Getting What We Truly Want - Episode #34

Self-Sabotage: the Reasons we Stop Ourselves from Getting What We Truly Want - Episode #34

The theme for today's episode is all about why we prevent ourselves from doing what we know we "should" do - or perhaps even really want to do. We discuss:

  • The advantageous 'reasons' for self-sabotage
  • The intricate ways in which we convince ourselves of the justification for our sabotage
  • Different ways in which we can sabotage ourselves - and some of them you may not even realize were sabotage!
  • Why we never see our sabotage until we need to deal with it - and how that can often take years
  • The underlying survival mechanisms at play within all of this
  • People pleasing and illness being a survival strategy of self-sabotage

This is perhaps one of the most varied Unveil Podcast episodes ever! Victoria and Brace share their personal sabotage stories and it leads them into a wide-ranging discussion about the discipline of acting (and why Improv is an allegory for life), and so much more.

A fun episode, with some important updates at the start from the Unveil crew.

Spiritual Bypassing and the Myth of “Meant to Be” - Episode #33

Spiritual Bypassing and the Myth of “Meant to Be” - Episode #33

Today’s Unveil Podcast episode is a real insight into the way we, as humans, try to rationalize away our sensations/impulses and move on from painful experiences - when the truth is that sham acceptance simply prolongs the painful nature of the memory.

Inspired by a recent quadcast between podcast legends @lukestorey @cal.callahan @joshtrentofficial and @doctormitozen - this episode tackles the very final elements of what was an epic and brilliant podcast about all sorts of things. Without wanting to criticize their statements at all, @victorialfenton felt there was more nuance to add to their conclusions about everything being meant to be, and there being a perfection to all things in the universe, including evil.

To be clear, as we state in this podcast, we do genuinely believe that for those having that discussion, this was their reality - and a really grounded place that they have found themselves within. Our podcast just adds color and breadth to those conclusions in order to honor something that is essential BEFORE we can arrive at those places of peace within the struggle: process.

This is a hugely varied discussion, yet again - and Victoria covers some of our unique integrative modalities as she explains:

  • When things have to be resolved in the soma, emotions or psyche
  • When things literally cannot be resolved in the inner realms and physiological interventions are required
  • The trauma-response inherent in escaping the present moment experience in an attempt to get to “it was all meant to be”
  • How to be within the present, lived experience without bypassing - and why it’s necessary

And so, so much more… a great episode which also includes all of the Academy updates, Founding Member pricing, funding options and a tonne more. Tune in, let us know what you think, and also go back and listen to the Quadcast from The Life Stylist Podcast: https://overcast.fm/+GuOmi80BM (we use Overcast, but look for the May 6th episode in any of your favorite players).

How and Why to PROPERLY Listen - to yourself, to others and more - and The Unveil Academy is HERE, a BIG Announcement Episode - #32

How and Why to PROPERLY Listen - to yourself, to others and more - and The Unveil Academy is HERE, a BIG Announcement Episode - #32

Today's episode is a HUGE one for Unveil, as we are announcing exciting things: including The Unveil Academy, our Coach Training Certification which will be launching THIS September (2022).

The first half of this episode will share all of the details, the why/what/where and when of learning with Unveil. And the Coach Training Certification Curriculum Brochure is available NOW at unveilacademy.com/coachtrainingcurriculum

We also use this episode, and the announcements of all of the changes to Unveil, to talk about LISTENING. The only reason we are pivoting so easily and smoothly as a company is because we listen. Firstly, to ourselves and the impulses and truths that are within us. Then, to each other - deeply - honoring what we truly need.

In this episode we discuss:

  • what it feels like when you listen, to you and the other
  • what it feels like when you don't
  • the power of listening in relationship
  • the potential of presence
  • HOW to listen, and to make sure you keep listening

We also somehow get into a conversation about robots... which just goes to show that the standard Unveil segues are still going to exist no matter WHAT changes we make!!

If you're loving this, do subscribe and make sure you follow the new accounts on Instagram (not yet elsewhere, but we're starting there):

@theunveilacademy - for courses, training and the podcast updates

@thealetheiagroup - for personal coaching, personal development work and insights

As ever, your hosts, @braceharris and @victorialfenton

Like, share, subscribe, rate, leave us a review - do all the things! And join us at The Unveil Academy if you feel called to do so!

Nervous System Regulation: What Does That Mean? Is It Really the ”Key to Life”? And How Can You Navigate the Nervous System as a Novice? - Episode #31

Nervous System Regulation: What Does That Mean? Is It Really the ”Key to Life”? And How Can You Navigate the Nervous System as a Novice? - Episode #31

Victoria Fenton takes the lead this week as we announce our Coach Training Certification by talking about one of the topics dear to our heart: clarity of communication within the coaching industry. And we begin with "Nervous System Regulation". (Watch the YouTube video at: bit.ly/episode31video)

A buzzword-phrase, a soundbite - and a sentence rich with potentially confusing interpretations which our Unveilers break down in this episode.

  • What the heck does this even mean
  • Is having a regulated nervous system really the "key to life" (clue: not exactly, and it very much depends - and it depends on what you really mean by 'regulated')
  • What the nervous system is SUPPOSED to be doing 100% of the time
  • When regulation really isn't the point or the desired outcome
  • How having 'regulated' as your goal denies the reality of the lived experience
  • The role of regulation and how to actually do it (simply) when you do need to
  • The times when you really shouldn't be looking at regulation at all

We also talk about the change-up in the Unveil dynamic and hint at a few announcements that we will make NEXT week on the podcast, as things at Unveil HQ change somewhat and we bring some launches FORWARD due to high demand. (We're sorry, we don't mean to tease, but we want to have somewhere to send you when we announce all the new things coming from Unveil and beyond!)

Mentioned in this podcast:

How to Listen to the Universe, Make Big Decisions and Have Difficult Conversations - Episode #30

How to Listen to the Universe, Make Big Decisions and Have Difficult Conversations - Episode #30

What an Episode, what a week, what a journey our Unveilers are on! This week, Brace Harris and Victoria Fenton are REUNITED! But, as they reveal on this Episode, not for long...

During this Episode Victoria discusses the challenges she has faced since being back in LA, and how this has caused her to ask deep questions and really come to terms with listening to the signals that the Universe has been sending. As such, this Episode becomes a discussion about how to listen to those signals, and follow the call that comes from the world around you towards where you truly need to be.

As ever, these kinds of processes to not lead to decisions which have no impact. In order to navigate through listening to the call, Victoria had to have some really challenging conversations, including ones with Brace.

They share how they, as a partnership, navigate through these challenging conversations, how they remain a stand for one another even when it would seem like they could turn against each other - and Brace shares how his mission has always been to come back to the table in the face of Victoria's whirlwind.

This is a really revealing Episode, as ever. Victoria shares what's underneath the latest round of decisions - and there are some HUGE announcements made about the upcoming Unveil Coach Training Certification, Victoria's memoir (which is being released soon) and a new member of the Unveil family arriving in August.

End Toxic Dating and Empower Yourself in Future Relationships - with Megan Thoma - Episode #29

End Toxic Dating and Empower Yourself in Future Relationships - with Megan Thoma - Episode #29

Our first Unveil Guest Episode - and it couldn't be more timely, juicy or PERFECT. Here at Unveil, we adore Megan Thoma. She is our friend and colleague, fellow Master Coach and relationships expert.

Megan helps women to connect to their authentic power, break up with toxic patterns, and intentionally create deeper, more meaningful relationships. She works to empower women, supporting them to be fulfilled at any stage of their life. She shows women how to break up with the "box of BS" that societal conditions put them in. Her mission is to help women understand who they are and what they want, and show them that ALL is possible.

Wow. But that's only Megan's official bio. What's EVEN MORE special about Megan is that she is a clear stand for healthy relationships, and you FEEL that when you interact with her. During this episode, she shares:

- What "toxic dating" means and how to know if you're in a toxic dating situation

- Her experience, both within toxic dating and her navigation out of her toxic dating patterns

- What leads to being within a toxic dating situation, and how we end up feeling 'stuck' there

- What you can do to recognize if you're engaged in toxic dating, and how to move yourself to a place where you can move beyond it.

- The reality of what the movement away from toxic dating takes and how it's about you, not the other person

- The magic that's on the other side of toxic dating and what is possible for you in this world

When it comes to this episode - it's not just for women! Brace Harris shares his experience and compassion with the female experience. And Megan is very clear: people aren't toxic, relationships aren't toxic, but people's ways of interacting and dating can definitely be toxic.

And, of course, we discuss Johnny Depp and Amber Heard: the most visible example of toxic dating at this moment in time. Megan shares a coach's perspective on this relationship, the trial and their needs...

Because what they really need is Megan's latest course!! Launching May 15th, Megan Thoma is leading a group of women through a three week End Toxic Dating course which supports them to Remember, Release and Reclaim themselves and heal their toxic dating patterns, for good.

For anyone interested in healing their relationship with themselves, and the way they relate, this course is for you.

To get access to Megan's Course, go follow her and DM her the words "I want IN!" - find her @megan_thoma

Megan's website is at meganthoma.com

We also mentioned the dating app Hinge (Megan's there, fellas!)

We'd give you links to follow along with the trial, but it's basically everywhere on YouTube so if you want to, you'll easily find it!

We LOVED having Megan with us, and are now open to guests on the Unveil Podcast. We have LOTS stored up which we're beginning to record as of now. So if YOU have a message to share with the world that supports our listeners to peek behind the curtains of their reality, we want to hear from you. Send us an email at podcast@unveilenterprises.com and we'll send you our podcast guest form to fill in.

Enjoy this episode, and jump into this empowered space with Megan, and the Unveil Team!
