17. Off Season Training & Building Internal Motivation
Today Lauren and Taylor are talking about the off season. You read that right. Whether you love or hate the off season, it is a vital part of the process to becoming an elite athlete. They talk about taking time to decompress after the season ends, training with a team or teammate versus training alone, knowing your body and when to push yourself or when to take an off day, practicing positive self-talk, and building internal motivation that will allow you to pursue your goals when you are feeling unmotivated, sluggish, or not seeing instant results. You can try to fool others but you can't fool yourself.

15. From Player to Coach with Megan Myers
This week Lauren runs solo as Taylor travels back home to Germany and MJ celebrates her little guys birthday. But don't worry, she still brings the heat with special guest, Megan Myers.
Affectionately referred to as the best D1 women's hockey player to play D3 hockey, played professionally for 5 seasons, and has transitioned into Assistant Coach for D1 women's hockey at Stonehill College. 14. Why Team Building is Crucial
This past weekend we had our team corporate retreat where we got to be together in person and even though we have only worked remotely together, we all vibed together well and everything felt natural. This isn't the case with majority of teams - whether we're talking sport or business. Creating and cultivating strong team cohesion starts with team building and creating a sense of trust and unity. Today we get into the importance of team building, different team building strategies, and of course, some stories from Lauren, MJ, and Taylor.

13. Self-Doubt and the Toronto Maple Leafs
Obviously, with the unfortunate (but somewhat anticipated) loss of the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7 of the first round of playoffs, we thought that self-doubt was the perfect topic to discuss. Taylor, Lauren, and MJ go deep on self-doubt; where it comes from, how to address it, and the three step process you can apply to help you overcome doubt and instill confidence in your performance.

12. Let's Talk Mental Health
**Trigger warning: this episode contains sensitive subject matter that may be triggering to some listeners.**
In light of Mental Health Awareness month and some of the tragic losses in the athletic community, we thought it was time to open the floor and talk about the importance of mental health. As athletes, it is easy for us to push aside this topic because we are afraid of being seen as weak, incompetent, or unable to perform. Today we want to remind you that you are people before athletes and sometimes that can be hard to see because our identity is so deeply wrapped up in our sport but how you are feeling is just as important as the next person. Lauren and Taylor share some of their struggles with mental health and some practical tools to help anyone that may be struggling right now.
If you are struggling, please reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or mental healthcare professional. If you have any questions or want to share your story with us, please send us a message on IG @theathleticmindpod

In today's episode we kick things off with a bit of women's hockey news update before diving into the topic of burnout; what it is, why this happens, and best practices for preventing it in the first place. We segwey into a conversation about dry season and binge drinking and our opinions on how coaches should handle the topic of substance use - particularly at the university level.
