About today’s moderator Laura Okafor Crain, Found & Ceo of perry:

Laura Okafor Crain is the founder of and force behind perry, the leading platform where women can gather knowledge, guidance, and support on all things perimenopause.

Having experienced her mother struggling in silence during the menopause transition and being a millennial who approaches perimenopause herself,  she was shocked by how little the support system around fertility and pregnancy matches the support women get when approaching perimenopause - which is close to none.

It is her mission to equip the upcoming generation entering the menopause transition with community and education - allowing ultimate self-advocacy.

Crushing Age Stereotypes at 59 with Mimi Ison

Crushing Age Stereotypes at 59 with Mimi Ison

This time Rachel talks with Mimi Ison about midlife, changes and crushing stereotypes.

Mimi is your new pro-aging friend!

Originally a Northern Cali girl, she has been living in LA for over 2 decades.

In her mid-50s she was trying to figure out how to do this getting older thing when your body gets as stiff as your fave hardcover book, parents get sick and die, and ageism magnifies all the so-called horrors of this natural part of life.

She had let her health flounder, was feeling adrift about my future, and anxious about my time left on earth. Can you relate?

As she was searching for help with aging, the messaging she found was either unrealistic:

“50 is the new 30!”
“Age is just a number!”

So she started Hey Middle Age, to explore comfy and uncomfy midlife stuff, and along the way added a mission to upend ageist stereotypes that harm everyone.
