S2E04 Google and Yahoo Major Email Changes Due in 2024
As of February 2024, if your business sends newsletters on a regular basis, you will need to pay close attention to some big changes happening in the email marketing space.
Google and Yahoo have both announced that they will be implementing stricter measures around email authentication protocols that will require every sender to authenticate their email domain, to ensure safer and less spammy inboxes.
I’ve met a few businesses recently who:
Don’t know about these new important email changes
Don’t think it’s a big deal
They put it into their “too hard basket” to deal with later
I say this is too important to leave for later and should be addressed by every marketer at least 90 days in advance of the planned dates - which is the 1st of February 2024 as announced by Google. No doubt others will follow in lockstep.
Although it seems too 'boring' or 'techy' for some marketers to grapple with, neglecting email authentication protocols could cost you in lost revenue, so it’s best to start planning now.
These changes are positive news for everyone involved - your subscribers will have a cleaner, less spammy inbox and you’ll be following email marketing best practices. It’s really a win-win.

S2E01 Craft Beer, Travel Adventures, and a Deep Dive Into Next Season
Over the last 3 months, Corey and I have been on a much needed adventure working and travelling through Turkiye and Greece. We packed 1 suitcase, including our laptops and quickly decided on our destination. Within 3 days, we were on the plane to Izmir, Turkiye.
During our trip, Corey rediscovered his passion for craft beer. We got talking to a few large craft breweries and bars located in Izmir and Bodrum in Turkiye; and also in Crete and Naxos Islands in Greece.
In this episode, I am sharing our travel experience and what we've learnt from speaking to some of these business owners.
Every time I travel, I'm reminded how technology helps us stay connected around the world and how quickly countries around the world are adopting it. AI seems to be on top of everyone's mind!
I heard Simon Sinek on a podcast recently, share his thoughts on AI and human connections. He used social media influencer analogy. Simon says it's much easier to pick up a phone and record yourself to talk to millions followers, but to try and say the same thing to a friend in person is entirely a different thing. It's harder to talk to one person than to a million people.
Simon's view is that AI cannot replace human connection. Our travel has proved that point a thousand times over!

S1E09 Mastering ChatGPT Prompts for Personalized Content Creation
In this episode of Marketing Automation Made Simple, Milena and Jovana from Bumper Leads talk about how businesses can take advantage of AI to save time and money. They talk about different tools like HubSpot, ActiveCampaign and Notion, and provide prompts that can be used to create personalized content that don't sound like they were generated by AI.
They also emphasize the importance of following copywriting frameworks such as the PAS framework they've been using in their own business to write newsletters and email content. Coming up with good copy is hard work - even for the most experienced copywriters.
AI can help, but it can also be time consuming to find words to instruct it to give you the right content for your brand.
Not everything ChatGPT does, can produce relevant information for your target market. Sometimes it's just words strung into sentences - pulled from the web without any regard for your specific topic of interest. Sometimes you need help with a few ideas on how to ask the right questions in order to get the right content for your email campaign or a blog!
And with many software tools now offering AI content creation as part of their default (or upgrade) features, we need to have the ability to instruct these tools to produce content in the right manner.
There are now jobs being created called Prompt Engineers and some require technical skills and demand a salary in upwards of $300,000!

S1E08 Getting Personal - Real Life Examples of Effective Segmentation
In this episode, we are going behind the scenes to showcase how we apply segmentation rules in a CRM.
There is going to be a lot of geek talk but we've tried our best to simplify the message and make this a fun interview.
When done right, segmentation can save your business time in following up or nurturing leads or clients; and in the examples we shared today, segmentation can transform a business.
The first example we share is an offline business who has transitioned online to bring buyers, sellers, pilots, brokers, transport segments together and become completely hands-free. Very similar to selling cars online but in this case, they sell light aircraft. Their chosen marketing automation platform is ActiveCampaign CRM and Wordpress - it's a very simple tech stack that requires no-code integrations, to make this process seamless for the client and all of their clients combined! We say goodbye to additional pesky software fees as this business can run off the smell of an oily rag.
Our second example is an ecom store that was looking to develop a VIP loyalty program using Klaviyo and Shopify as their chosen marketing automation platform. By using Klaviyo and our know-how, we were able to setup a 3-tier loyalty program that brings in sales every day without the client needing to invest in expensive loyalty program apps that seem to dominate the ecom marketplace. We share what's possible using these 2 platforms and... also what's not possible and how it can affect what you build.
