Season 3, Episode 13: The P.R.I.Z.E. is Qiana Davis

Welcome to a new episode. The guest is Qiana Davis.

Qiana M. Davis is an author, mental wellness champion, speaker, and podcast host with the gift of gab and the power to heal. Experiencing her grandmother's and mother's tragic deaths inspired her to help others heal and find their purpose in grief, loss, and trauma. Ms. Davis channeled her pain into the pages of her first book, a grief journal called I Remember Her, a healing tool for readers mourning a significant female figure in their lives in 2020. Two years later, she founded Emprove U as a wellness platform that focuses on how the intersection between mental, emotional, physical, and financial health affects overall well-being. It was at the height of the pandemic that Ms. Davis first noticed how certain underrepresented groups struggled most with their mental health yet lacked the focus and available resources afforded to over other disparaged groups. It is because of these findings that Emprove U focuses primarily on three hubs: men, youth and entrepreneurs. Through Emprove U, Ms Davis kicked off the Men-Too Mental Health series, a roundtable for men's mental health issues in August 2022. The quarterly series pulls together men from different disciplines, age groups, educational levels and walks of life to discuss specific stressors and other affecting men's mental health today like stigma, incarceration and racism. The second installment of the series touched on how media influence and negative stereotypes affects men's mental health. The impact and need for the Men-Too Mental Health series has been unanimous as more support continues to pour in. No matter how difficult or daunting the task, Ms. Davis' passion and drive are the fuel behind her commitment to improving the mental wellness of her community.

Season 3, Episode 9: The P.R.I.Z.E. is Antwan McKenzie-Plez

Season 3, Episode 9: The P.R.I.Z.E. is Antwan McKenzie-Plez

Welcome to a new episode! Today's guest is Antwan McKenzie-Plez.

Hello and welcome! My name is Antwan McKenzie-Plez, Owner & Clinical Director of Its All Grief, LLC, Grief & Trauma Specialist, Author, and bona fide Neuroscience Fanatic. I love the human brain and all of its amazing capabilities, including its ability to access true healing and restoration. I study it intensely and am constantly engaged in perfecting strategies to help people do just that. I consider myself, "Counselor by Profession... Healer by Calling". It's important to know that I practice therapy in a very de-colonized, non-traditional, and non-oppressive manner. By that, I mean that in our relationship, I may be the expert on mental health and healing, but YOU ARE THE EXPERT ON YOUR LIFE! So we both use our best skills to work together in healing and liberating you. I am a mental health counselor located in Broward County, Florida. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), licensed by the State of Florida (currently working on licensure in additional states). I hold a Bachelor of Science in ESE K-12, a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a Graduate Certification in Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counseling. I am trained and experienced in providing various types of therapy, including Brainspotting, EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT just to name a few. Clientele I am experienced in treating a myriad of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma-related disorders. I work with individuals ages 11 and up, and provide a focus on helping people survive and thrive in the systems they live in, with particular focus on the ever present role that unresolved grief plays in many of our situations in which we feel “stuck”- unable to move forward with life. My clients benefit from learning what it is that is causing them to feel stuck, and then becoming empowered to take effective action in their own lives toward getting “un-stuck”. Sometimes this includes freeing oneself from the bondage of expectations, which can sometimes keep us from living as our truest and most authentic self. I am a strong advocate for all gender minorities, to include cisgender women, women of color, and trans-identified individuals. I am a fierce defender of every child’s right to live and grow in a supportive and loving environment, and a champion for families. I am an advocate for human rights for all people. My therapy office is a safe space for all people.

Season 2, Special Episode A: The P.R.I.Z.E. is Group Love

Season 2, Special Episode A: The P.R.I.Z.E. is Group Love

This week is different. I talk to men about having something for yourself. What do you to self soothe? I love podcasting. It can be about music, movies or tv, I enjoy it. In the last year, I have made great friends in the podcasting world. In fact, I am a part of the "I Did Not Make These Rankings Podcast Network". 5 podcasters who love the medium. This week The P.R.I.Z.E. is Group Think. Who are we?

Kendra Beltran realized soon after graduating college that working a typical job in an office was not going to happen. Ironic since she has since watched 'The Office' more times than she'd like to admit. With that, she started freelance writing and since then has written for MTV Geek, Cartoon Brew, Apartment Therapy, and many other wonderful sites that have welcomed her pop culture insights. After over a decade of writing she decided to put her voice to use and start a podcast that combined her interview skills with her love of slumber party chatter, thus Crushgasm Podcast was born. When she isn't writing or podcasting, she's arguing with potential home buyers on 'House Hunters,' and hanging out with her fiance and fur baby.

Amanda Kohlhofer is a former healthcare worker, freelance writer, and podcast host. Amanda has been married for 10 years to her husband George, had an 18 year old daughter Abby, and 2 beautiful fur babies. Amanda hosts The Sip List podcast, a pop culture top 5 podcast. Each week Amanda and her guests pick a topic and count down their top 5 favorites. Amanda also co-hosts An Evening at the Movies podcast with Kasey Box.

Kasey Box is a 45 year old dude from the great state of Washington, the hometown of Kurt Cobain and Bryan Danielson to be exact.  I have lived here my whole life.  When I am not discussing movies on "An Evening At the Movies", you can usually find me grinding it out as a Regional Supervisor for a security company. An Evening At the Movies is a fun podcast where myself and my co-host Amanda pick a new movie each week. We deep dive into the facts and share memories and our feeling about the chosen film.  We can be found on all podcast listening platforms from Spotify to Apple to Google and Good Pods and more.  Check us out and enjoy.

Diandre Robinson is the host of Mass-debaters and everything that has the Mass-debaters name on it. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa but now lives in the Portland Or area. He loves his family, his podcast, and helping people. He is the only person in this group who was guest before.

This week the case study is David Hammond. Who is David you ask?

David just recently released his first self published book. David is also the owner of Hammond's Painting LLC, a commercial and residential painting company. Painting is like therapy for David. It allows him time to think, pray, and clear his mind. Prior to becoming a published author, David obtained an associate degree in business management and an associate degree in graphic design. One of his goals is to leverage both his painting and management skills to teach young people who want a trade. He is also passionate about helping men who have been incarcerated like him, to live a positive and productive life to ensure that they will never return to prison again.
