What do men and architecture have in common? They’re both sexist.

I'm taking over "Fresh Air"’s role to air out some dirty laundry about the historically women’s institution, Bryn Mawr College.

Olivia Harkins-Finn is a senior at Bryn Mawr College who took her summer research to a whole new level when she discovered how Quaker values have altered architecture to accommodate the female body and temperament. Olivia explains how Quakers were the first to use domestic architecture plans to treat and cure mentally ill patients, plans that were also used as the structural framework for the first buildings at Bryn Mawr College.
