For educators, is ChatGPT the new Wikipedia?

Welcome to the Eduwiki podcast! In this podcast we delved into a very interesting topic which has gained the attention of many and that is ChatGPT. While Some see it as a game-changer, others have concerns about its potential impact. Recently within the wikimedia community, there was a thought-provoking publication on how educators should approach tools like ChatGPT in a world where technology plays a dominant role. Joining us today is Nichole Saad from the Wikimedia Foundation Education Team, who provided insights on how educators should approach tools like ChatGPT in the 21st century. She recently published this thought provoking story on medium Title- “For educators, is ChatGPT the new Wikipedia?

Nichole Saad is an Education leader who has held about every type of role you can think of in the education sector. She wrote textbooks in Lebanon, started a bi-lingual school in Shanghai, trained teachers for the Ministry of Education in Malaysia, and supported refugee education with UNCHR, UNESCO, and other NGOs. Now, she leads a globally diverse team that works to ensure that everyone has access to knowledge for free and that they have the skills and tools they need to critically consume and contribute to information. Nichole's work is based on her belief that if we establish goals, build communities, and measure results the way the most impactful educators do, we'll accomplish more and build thriving workplaces centered on learning and belonging.
