"Hand Surgery for Musicians" by Stephen "Doc Roc" Troum, M.D. | DSA Monthly Mtg April, 11, 2024 | HOST: Michael Brandenberger

Stephen is a member of Dallas Songwriters Association, and an accomplished musician and songwriter. He also leads a pop/rock band called the Troumatics that plays original and cover songs mainly in the Fort Worth area.  But he is also an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery and is board certified in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of surgery and is a fellow of the American Society of for Surgery of the hand.  In this recording he talks about how musicians can avoid hand problems and get treatment for hand problems when they occur.  It should be a very informative discussion for all musicians, particularly guitar players! He signed his first independent record deal when he was 19 with his band “Somebody’s Weird”, which did one album that sold 25,000 copies in the local area and garnered a lot of radio play.
