Do you want it all?

Do you want it all?

I was recently inspired by a poem written by Thich Nhat Hanh. The poem is entitled "I Shall Say That I Want It All" .

I've included it below so you can read it as a whole.

I've shared snippets of stories with clients, over and over, to allow them to gain a deeper understanding of a metaphor and how it may relate to their situation. I hope you enjoy this episode. "I shall say that I want it all. If you ask me how much I want, I shall tell you that I want it all. You and I and everyone are flowing this morning Into the marvelous stream of oneness. Small pieces of imagination we are, We have come a long way to find ourselves, And for ourselves in the dark, The illusion of emancipation. This morning my brother is back from his long adventure. He kneels before the altar and his eyes are filled with tears. His soul is looking for a shore to put an anchor, My own image of long ago. Let him kneel there and weep, Let him cry his heart out. Let him have his refuge for a thousand years. Enough to dry all his tears. Because one of these nights I shall come. I have to come and set fire to this small cottage of his on a hill. His last shelter. My fire will destroy, Destroy everything. Taking away from him the only life raft he has, after a shipwreck. In the utmost anguish of his soul, The shell will break. The light of the burning hut will witness, gloriously, his deliverance. I will wait for him beside the burning cottage, Tears will run down my cheeks. I shall be there to contemplate his new existence, And hold his hands in mine, And ask him how much he would want. He will smile at me and say that he wants it all. Just as I did."

New Doesn't Last - 5 Ways to Slay Learning Overwhelm

New Doesn't Last - 5 Ways to Slay Learning Overwhelm

In my latest blog, New Doesn't Last, when learning something new, not familiar, but completely new, do you remain confident? Or does the anxiety kick in when you didn’t understand the first sentence uttered by the educator?

There are occasions when I learn something completely new, I struggle — not because of the teaching style but because there is too much ‘new’ all at once — I go into overwhelm.

The reality is most people experience this, and it’s normal.

For others, when learning something new, the confidence meter can take a hit early on in the learning process. When the confidence is lowered, the motivation to learn isn’t high — and this is where people then begin to emotionally dysregulate.

When we feel like our buttons are being pushed, the feelings can be very big. This triggers our flight-fight response, and we activate our subliminal survival program.

When in survival, we don’t create detailed memories of what we are meant to be learning, but we do remember how those big feelings felt. Awful. Overwhelming.

Remembering those big feelings reactivates the survival program, and it’s at this time you create the foundation for anxiety if the big emotions aren’t expressed or sorted out.

When working clinically, I find myself reminding clients of the following tips to combat “NEW” fatigue. That’s simply something I made up, but when I see it over and over, frankly it’s worth calling it a thing!

Continue listening for the 5 ways to slay learning overwhelm.

My child has threatened self harm

My child has threatened self harm

In the last two months, I've had more than 10 youth clients tell me (and their parents) that they want to take their own life.

This episode comes with a trigger warning and attempts to start the conversation of teen suicide prevention.

This is the beginning of a conversation with my audience, and is not intended to replace trusted professional medical or psychiatric advice. This is intended as a starting point for open dialogue about this topic, especially as parents navigate the journey with their children. It can be extraordinarily stressful for everyone involved.

Episode Thirty Six - Creating A Fire Ritual

Episode Thirty Six - Creating A Fire Ritual

This episode contains hypnotic suggestion. I strongly advise you don't listen to this episode when driving or operating heavy machinary!

This episode references a recent blog "The Darkest Day - Ride The Winter Solstice Energetic Wave".

Many dread and fear the season of winter. The darkness, or perhaps lack of light, is the physical reminder that there’s no escaping a season of impending hibernation.

A depression sets in as the trees begin to change colour and shed their leaves. The wind breathes deeply, and the temperature drops. It’s at this point the dread arrives with the cold, crisp air.

But what if you could embrace seasonal evolution?

What if you could utilise the winter solstice as a time of deep contemplation and reflection?

This blog introduces the benefit of creating a fire ritual to restore your kidney chi energy.

Happy listening!

Episode Twenty Nine Give yourself permission to release expectations

Episode Twenty Nine Give yourself permission to release expectations

In this episode, Ilana and I have a candid conversation about the expectations we place on ourselves during the time of conception, pregnancy, child birth and the fourth trimester.

I am fortunate enough to interview Ilana about her own entrance into motherhood and there's some gems for all listeners in terms of permission, simple coaching questions you can ask yourself and keep your nervous system calm!

Guest Speaker - Ilana Kosakiewicz is a leading Australian kinesiologist, women’s wellbeing mentor, and yoga and meditation teacher.

She is an entrepreneur with a past life as a CPA accountant in the corporate world.  Ilana’s own health journey with chronic fatigue, irregular cycles and auto-immune disease taught her that slowing down, finding moments of stillness, and listening to the body’s intuition are not just important – they are essential.

Ilana is passionate about teaching women how to optimise their energy, step into their power and cyclical nature. She assists women to live in alignment and flow by learning to structure their weeks around their energy levels and listening to their bodies.  She also works with children (& some men) to assist in shifting their essence, energy and mindset so they can live authentic, content and happy lives.  Originally from Gippsland Australia, Ilana now lives in bayside Melbourne.

She spends her days with clients, mentoring, facilitating workplace workshops, teaching yoga and meditation, running retreats, writing, cooking in her kitchen and spending as much time at the beach as she can.

Episode Twenty Six - Happiness Hacks

Episode Twenty Six - Happiness Hacks

I was working with a coaching client the other day who is concerned about the number of jobs that now appear on their resume in a short period of time.

We deep dived into this topic and landed in a space of "what actually makes you happy?"

There were the obvious answers ... "oh my partner, my pet, my team sport etc".

Of course, as a coach I called the client out on this response and identified that was a safe answer. I asked them again, "what do you experience when you are happy?"

But when I asked how that felt, the client drew blank. Their aha moment was that they are living in FUTURE TIME and never investing in the moment of right now - the present.

We talked about this a little bit and the client realised they were not making any effort or investment into measuring what actually feels good.

The consequence of not connecting with all the feels, is they migrate from experience to experience, always in search of the next quick fix, but never banking the feel good credits into their happiness account (ie their heart).

When you allow yourself to be present, and immerse into the experience of now, everything becomes an opportunity for happiness, joy and gratitude.

Even the tiny weeny mundane boring shit suddenly becomes interesting. This is because you're focused on how you feel as you smash out the tasks and become more productive.

It's a fact that when you work in your head, you think too much. You're not as productive or focused. Your resilience isn't as strong.

Episode Eighteen - Self Reflection

Episode Eighteen - Self Reflection

In this episode, I’m exploring self reflection as a healthy self development tool that we can all do.

I have multiple conversations in clinic every week with clients who have moments where you feel stuck? Perhaps this only lasts for a couple of hours or worse several days or extends out to weeks and gulp maybe months?

We talk about the need for honesty with self in order to seek a deeper understanding of that close and very personal relationship called ‘me’ or ‘self’.

Diving deep into your relationship with yourself can support you to overcome sub conscious habits that restrict or inhibit you to live your best life.

Self reflection might just be the thing you’re looking for.

It’s not an activity to beat yourself up, nor is it designed to instigate shame, blame or guilt.

Self Reflection is defined as a time to dig deeper into yourself. For example for you to return to your heart space and perceive what worked well or what didn't?

It's a process of observation of yourself, your feelings, thoughts and actions. It's a process that requires being honest with yourself and should not ignite shame, blame, or guilt.

Self Reflection requires a couple of things in order to achieve a positive outcome from the activity. Afterall, by connecting into your heart space, you are accessing your innate wisdom. You are activating your intuition and perception of life from a space of love.

Exploration of self perception incorporates six attributes which include:

· Self-confidence - a feeling of trust of your own abilities, qualities and judgement

· Self-image - how you see your abilities, appearance and personability

· Self-Worth - sense of your own worth or value as a person

· Self-Respect - pride & confidence in yourself

· Self-Belief - the belief that you can do things well

· Self-Esteem - confidence in your worth & abilities

Self reflection is a personal growth tool which allows you to pause and determine how well you're travelling your path.

Episode Seventeen - Why is change hard?

Episode Seventeen - Why is change hard?

In this episode I am deconstructing the internal neurological, emotional and mental programs that contribute to us feeling stuck, life is hard or worse feeling lost.

It’s one thing to have a vision of your dream life. Its an entire another thing to change yourself to get the dream to become real.

Why is change hard?

As human beings we develop a series of values and beliefs of how life should be. We emotionally invest in these beliefs which support us to feel that something is good or bad. This means we are rooted within our belief system. These beliefs are what drive our motivation, intention and willingness for life.

This is great unless your belief system is challenged in some way or stressed. This is the space where fear can arise. And it’s not just one that can pop up. Stress in the belief system can interchanging graphics of fears such as fear of change, fear of rejection, fear to be vulnerable, fear of the future, fear of uncertainty, fear of being unworthy or not good enough, fear of judgement, even fear of becoming unwell.

It's human nature to want to avoid fear because it's uncomfortable and not something we actively choose to feel in terms of being thinking or feeling negative. What we don't realise is that the more we avoid the greater the sabotage pattern we create. Enjoy today's episode of why change is hard.

Episode Sixteen - Embracing Your Wound

Episode Sixteen - Embracing Your Wound

Get comfortable sitting in your ‘discomfort’ enables the shifts to live the life you desire!

I’m getting a lot of calls and messages lately, from clients who have avoided their stuff for months if not years. They are distressed and desperate for an immediate change of circumstances. Their stuff is swallowing them whole.

Let’s be clear, we ALL have stuff — you know, that shit we all deal with. The stuff that includes challenges so negative that trip us up and cause us to splat on our face.

We’ve all got stuff in our lives to deal with. Never delude yourself that you don’t, because you do. No one is excluded from learning lessons. No one.

In my experience though, it’s how well we are willing to explore our stuff that determines what we learn about ourselves. Our willingness regarding how quickly we can dig around and investigate our stuff, and how we evolve from the lessons that need to be learnt actually drive the outcome of who we are today and what we become tomorrow.

Deep right? But knowing this doesn’t solve the discomfort you may be sitting in right now.

In fact, if you have been avoiding taking responsibility for your stuff for a while it is highly likely that lately you have felt trapped or burdened in life. The world is changing and many of us are struggling to figure out who we are and where we now fit?

Episode Eight - Ditch The Excuses

SHOW NOTES

In today’s episode I’m going to explore How To Stop Making Excuses And Start Living Your Best Life. In other words I’m going to explore How you can Take Charge of Your Stuff!!!

This pandemic is causing a lot of trauma.

I’m hearing a lot of negative based mindset language going on. Don’t get me wrong, for some this is a really tough situation with loss of employment, stuck in domestic violence, home-schooling whilst trying to work.

Yes it’s different and at times very difficult to comprehend. I hear a lot of I can’t do much more of this. I can’t do that. I’m stuck inside. I feel alone.

We’re hearing a lot of war language in the media and by our politicians which is contributing to a societal stress.

And yet, I’ve never seen so many families out walking their pets in my life in the nearby park.

How you perceive these current global circumstances is a mindset choice.

Before you even consider busting my chops, listen to the episode! Or read the blog!

Episode Six - Learn to Mother Yourself

Episode Six - Learn to Mother Yourself

In today’s episode I’m going to talk about becoming your own parent and introduce 7 easy practices of self-worship, in order to live your best life.

We need to go to the beginning of our life when we are born as an innocent baby who loves ourself unconditionally. And we grow and begin to have experiences.

A child will nearly always run back to its mother when they are distressed, have a boo-boo, or simply in need of comfort. As we become teenagers we drift steps away from mother as our confidence and independence grow. We stretch out of the family unit a branch out onto our own journey path. Yet we are still in need of nurture and mothering on a fundamentally basic human level.

As adults, regardless of whether we maintain a relationship with our biological mother, we remain in need of receipt of the same depth of loving nurture throughout life. Who better to provide that nurture to you than yourself?

After all, you know yourself better than anyone else — right? And yet, we so quickly and easily invest ourself, and our energy into the drama of others, that we often lose sight of when and how to nuture our own needs.

Episode Two - Exploring Your Shadow

What is our Shadow Self?

I’m a firm believer that we all have a shadow within us. Let me clarify that further by stating that I believe we are made of light and dark. And not in terms of good and evil, but in terms of what we acknowledge in terms of our strengths, and what we are yet to learn along our journey path.

Our light could be comprehended as the stuff of our behaviours and patterns that we have owned and taken responsibility for. And our darkness could be said to reflect those aspects of self which are still driven by fear or negative self.

When we undertake a spiritual journey, and commence exploring and owning our lessons, we uncover our strengths and internal resources. We build upon our internal resilience by utilising these resources to explore more facets of why we observe and respond, as opposed to react and invest in drama.

When we observe our feelings and responses, we are connected to our light. Our strength if you will.  For when we embrace our true strengths of our spirit, our hearts and smiles shine brightly. When we embrace our heart centred space with loving actions for self and others, our light shines brightly.
