Abiding in the Faith

We have all been in a moment of desperation. Where we come up against a difficulty, a struggle, a Chasm, or a mountain as if it were where we have no place to go but to God. For Christians, turn and gaze into heaven in prayer and ask God to intervene. Then God does intervene. Sometimes, he answers in a way we hope and expect he will. Then, sometimes, he answers unexpectedly and provides a better way than we ever expected.  

In today's episode, we will examine Hannah's prayer of desperation and her prayer of praise from 1 Samuel Chapters 1 and 2. 

This episode begins with a faithful family from Ramah from the book of 1 Samuel. Elkanah and his family are on a path of obedience as they obey God's commandments. Hear the beginning of their story on today's podcast.

Today's podcast episode is the first in a series within a series called "The Path of Obedience" in a study of First and Second Samuel. Transitions are a part of everyone's life. We have all gone through a transition. We either are going into a transition, in the middle of one, or exiting one. The path of obedience begins here.

God values us enough to send his son on a seek-to-save mission to rescue those who are lost. In this episode, we will look at the story of Zacchaeus and why the Lord had to be a guest in his home that day.

In today's episode, we reflect on how God has worked through Abiding in the Faith Ministries in 2023. We then look ahead to 2024, wanting to continue to level up spiritually.

Everyone at one point in their life will have an encounter with Jesus.

Some will hear that Jesus is the Son of God. Some encounter Jesus in their youth, and some advance in years. Some will have a superficial encounter with Jesus that turns genuine.

The Apostle Paul encountered Jesus on the Damasus road, changing his life forever. Stephen saw Jesus on his deathbed as Jesus was welcoming him into heaven.

No matter how you have met Jesus, it’s not just the encounter but the realization that what you have encountered is precious. In today's episode, we will hear the story of five men who encountered what's precious.

What we value is found in the eye of the beholder. What do we value the most? Is it a prized possession, our relationship with others, or our relationship with Christ? As we begin this new series called "Valued: Valuing God's precious cornerstone," we will learn what Jesus values so we can value our relationship with him more deeply.

Today's study is a recap of the book of Hebrews. Pastor Jason points out why Jesus is our great shepherd and the missing puzzle piece that completes the picture.

Hebrews 13:7 reminds us to remember our leaders and to see the good that came from their lives. In today's study, we will look at the traits of a Biblical leader from the Apostle Paul's message to the Ephesian elders from Acts 20 and how Paul's lifestyle influenced other leaders.

An ancient Egyptian proverb says, “Death is but a doorway to new life. We live today, and we will live again. In many forms, we will return.”

The Egyptian proverb is only partially correct, though. Death is a doorway to new life; we are alive today and will be alive after we die. When we pass on from this world to the next, we do not come back to life in many different forms but to a life with God or being separated from God. The Bible tells us that we will be resurrected from the dead to live again. But it is up to you to choose where you will live for eternity. Which way will you choose?  

What is the secret to contentment? Well, it depends on who you ask. In today's episode, we will hear the Apostle Paul's answer. Paul had found the secret to contentment, which was not found in being in need or having plenty, but in what? We will keep that a secret.

During Jesus’s ministry, he approached any person, no matter their sin, and spoke to them about their current spiritual need for living water. As Christians, we have this living water residing in us, and only Jesus can saturate our souls to look upon people with a concern for their spiritual well-being. In today’s ministry moment, we will examine how Jesus dealt with someone who needs living water.

God's word tells us to hold marriage in honor in front of everyone. In todays study, we will learn from Hebrews 13:4 why marriage should be kept in honor. We will study God's original design, what happened, and how we as Christians can hold marriage in honor among everyone.

The Bible contains practical principles for Christian living that display God’s love for others. God wrote these principles in Scripture for us to learn and to live out because he loves us. Living out these principles brings joy when we show God’s love to others. Today’s study comes from Hebrews 13, and we will look at the first three practical principles for Christian living.

How do you view God? Do you view God as approachable or unapproachable? In today's study from Hebrews 12, we come to a text that contains two different mountaintop views of God. Today, we unpack Hebrews 12:18-29 to learn more about these two different mountaintop views of God.

Renewed vitality leads to watching out for yourself and others. We all desire to improve our eating and physical habits. Maybe it is to have a renewed lifestyle that includes a healthy lifestyle, more energy, more endurance, and the feeling of being a better you. But before quitting bad habits and changing your lifestyle for renewed vitality, you must become aware of your health problems and behaviors. This applies not just to your physical well-being but even to your spiritual well-being. We become renewed when we do revival-like things. Listen to learn more.

What kind of life do you want to live? A lifestyle that is disobedient to God or a lifestyle of obedience. Believers want to live a life that pleases the Lord and not a life that the Lord finds offensive. Sin can become a weight that will weigh us down. So what can we do? Find out on today's episode.

We are all surrounded by the company we keep. Those individuals we can deal with and those we struggle to be around. We should surround ourselves with people who will encourage us to run the race of life. Who have you surrounded yourself with? Hebrews 11 has been called the “hall of faith” or even the “hall of heroes.” But this collection of real people who lived by Faith were not superheroes but a group of imperfect people who stepped out in faith. These individuals were counted to them as Righteous because of their actions. Today's study will cover these individuals and their lives and what we can learn from their examples.

As the righteous live by faith, life happens. As we will learn on today's podcast from Hebrews 11, Abraham, Issac, and Jacob experienced the ups and downs we all experience. They experienced tests, relationship struggles, success, and the agony of defeat. Yet through it all, they endured. They focused on God and his promised Son until they received the promise. Hebrews 11 begins with faith. That faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. In our study, we will be looking at six individuals in the first 16 verses of Hebrews 11 and gain insight into how God's righteous live by faith.

Jesus Christ is a great physician.  He not only has the power to heal physically but can heal you spiritually. In this Ministry Moment,  Pastor Jason describes how the Holy Spirit uses different examination tools that spoke to him. When the Holy Spirit speaks, He uses examination methods that enable God to point out anything that offends him so that we can course correct.  

Have you ever been on the other end of an urgent phone call? An urgent call comes through, and it’s a life-or-death situation. How do you respond? In today’s study, we will look at one of David’s Psalms, when David made an urgent request to God and held onto his faithfulness during difficult times. What we can learn from David's experience will give us encouragement when we suffer and why it is important to reach out to hold onto God. 

Are you having trouble feeling forgiven today? Many Christians still carry a burden of guilt, forgetting that Jesus made it possible to be forgiven and have the proper standing before the Father.  Christ has already dealt with your guilt, so you do not have to. In today's study, the author of Hebrews will tell us why Jesus became the perfect offering and how his offering made it so we can have complete forgiveness.
