--------- HIGHLIGHTS WITH TRANSCRIPT ---------
* When to Bring an Interior Designer | 0:03:01 - 0:04:14 (73 Seconds)
0:03:01 Speaker 1
Many people wonder when it's the right time to bring an interior designer. As you know, Alicia, I work with a lot of people on a regular basis that started with like an architect, the contractor, and now it's time for them to do the inside of the home and they're just at a loss. They don't know what to do, they don't know where to start, they don't know why they've had rooms chopped up the way they did, but hey. So I find that people, you know they want to design their homes because they have great taste, but they just don't know how to start and how to develop their ideas for their visions. So I think that it's crucial to ask for help and ask questions of a designer, like even on just like a consultation call. You know, designers offer different services, like color consultations, space planning consultation, furniture consultations, lighting consultations, so you don't have to do everything. You could find your weakness and figure out where you need help, or you can have someone help you from A to Z. So there's different ways that you could go about it.

082 Are dining rooms still necessary?
***Click here for this week's sip!*** Welcome to the latest episode of Tea Over Interiors Podcast. In this episode, we tackle an interesting question: Is the formal dining room necessary? In modern homes, open-plan living spaces have become increasingly popular, leading to less-defined areas for specific uses, such as dining rooms. This has left many people, especially homebuyers and homeowners, questioning whether the formal dining room is still necessary or not. We delve right into the topic by taking a look at the history of the dining room. We learn that the dining room has been an essential part of home design since the Middle Ages. However, back then, it was considered a room for just the wealthy, where they entertained guests and distinguished visitors. Over the years, the room evolved to become common in most middle-class homes, and there was a need to make it more functional. We then move on to discuss the pros and cons of having a formal dining room. Some of the advantages of having a dining room include the ability to host a dinner party, formal dining, and creating an elegant and sophisticated look. On the other hand, some of the cons include the need for more space, reduced functionality, and considerable expense in terms of maintenance and decor. Next, we weigh in on the factors that influence whether the formal dining room is necessary or not. These factors are the size of the home, the lifestyle of the homeowner, the number of guests entertained, and the home's architectural style. We conclude by giving some suggestions on how to make the formal dining room a more practical space such as using it as a multipurpose room, adding storage, and rearranging furniture. Thank you for listening to this episode. Tune in next week for a brand-new episode. Please share this podcast with a friend.
