This week Swabhiman sits down for a conversation with Sami Godlove from the organization Oregon Wild, a non-profit dedicated to protecting and restoring Oregon’s wildlands, wildlife, and waters. Sami gives us some insight into the opportunities and challenges of working in the field, and shares the skills and expertise people might need if they wanted to explore a career in conservation.

[S2E1] Nonprofits PDX- Street Roots
In the first installment of his exploration into the work of Portland-area non-profit organizations, Yogev takes a look at a familiar staple of our community: Street Roots. Street Roots is an award-winning weekly street newspaper that humanizes our houseless community members in a city that has struggled to find solutions. Through investigative journalism, op-eds, vendor profiles, and more, Street Roots uncovers the consequences and impacts of policies on our communities while offering low-barrier income opportunities for some of our most vulnerable community members.

International students studying in the United States are subject to many rules and regulations that are unique to this population. One such restriction dictates who they are able to work for while they are a student. As a result, oftentimes the easiest path to employment is through their educational institution.
