Two Girls, One Small Town

This episode is all about fun conversations with friends while learning about our community, past and present, as well as local families. We had a lot of fun talking to Sara Hume Nielsen. Pardon all the laughter! She is fun what can I say! She also makes great burritos and dirty cokes! She brought lunch...so we chatted on the podcast over lunch! Be sure to listen in.

The Rangely community is fortunate to have a hospital that is continually expanding to meet the needs of the community.  Recently, an open house was held where residents could walk through and look at a new surgical unit featuring the latest and greatest equipment, where general surgeries will be performed. 

Listen in as Kyle Wren, CEO of Rangely District Hospital and Kelly Christian, who is the Director of Infection Prevention, Surgical Suite, and SPD Manager, provide information to the community regarding the new surgical suite.  Discover what surgeries and procedures will be performed, when the first surgeries will take place, and what went into moving the project forward once the Hospital Board gave the approval.  You can also learn more about the employees who will be staffing the unit and certifications that were required in order for them to do so.

This was a very informative podcast where you will also learn more about future additions and changes to the hospital.  We are proud of our local hospital! 

We had the pleasure of sitting down with the Rangely Lady Panthers Basketball Team and Head Coach Jimmie Mergelman this week. This team has made quite a name for themselves! They are the 2A Regional Champs and are on their way to state.

The Panthers face off against the Wiggins Tigers at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 7th. Rangely will be looking to extend their current 17-game winning streak and to move to the next level of the tournament! Wow that's impressive.

We took the time to get to know the players a little better and we are excited to share our conversation with you!

Most Rangely residents know if you talk about "Bulia" who you are talking about....Amorette Hawkins. Amorette is a very beloved member of the community. She is the Director of the Rangely Regional Library and her family has been a staple of the community since homesteading close by. Her life is filled with love for the community and her family! She is a lot of fun to listen to. We hope she comes back for another Podcast real soon!

This was probably one of our favorite interviews of all time. Jim Steele turned 90 years old on the 30th of October. Happy Birthday Jim!

Jarrod is an awesome young man with a lot of interests and talents. We really enjoyed our conversation with him. Listen in as he discuses his time on the show, their visit to Rangely, Colorado, as well as plans for the future! He is definitely worth listening to!

Today we were privileged to have Alli Armstrong Vaughan, with Grace Camo & Lace, on the podcast. Alli co-hosts the show with her Sister Adrianna. Alli is a from a very small town in Illinois with a population of about 300. She has been hunting with her Dad and Grandpa since she was five years. Listen in as she tells her story. We recently had the opportunity to interview "Big Mike," from Big Mike's Pork N Wings. Big Mike's has decided to be in Rangely more often and has actually opened up a location with indoor seating and will offer outdoor seating when the weather is nice. He will still smoke his meat and cook from his very large food truck, which has industrial size equipment inside, but will make sure if you want to dine in, then it is readily available!

Zach Stevenson stopped by today and we had an awesome conversation! Zach, who played baseball for Colorado Northwestern Community (CNCC) from 2011 to 2013, is the new Athletic Director for CNCC. Zach and his family love the Rangely community and are so excited to be back in town! His story is a great one! You must check it out! If you haven't met him in person yet you should take the time to do so! Welcome home Zach!

This was just a fun episode with a few cute kids who stopped by the Podcast last week to talk about going back to school. Listen in as they chat about returning to school. They were pretty cute...and funny!!

Today's Podcast features Sarah Hepworth, who is the new Principal at Rangely Junior/Senior High School. Sarah moved to Rangely from Craig, Colorado. She graduated high school from Rock Springs High School in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She studied Elementary Education at University of Wyoming, Early Childhood Special Education at University of Northern Colorado and Education Leadership at Mesa State College. Her education in combination with years of experience will prove to be a tremendous asset to our schools as well as our community.

Ms. Hepworth loves Rangely and looks forward to meeting all the students in town! Be sure to provide her with a warm welcome if you see her around town!

This episode was dedicated to Erin Kelly who tragically died in a crash during the New England Forest Rally in Maine on July 14th. This episode is about all things Rally Colorado! Our guest was Rupert Berrington, who is the Chairman of Rally Colorado. Rupert is also an internationally renowned professional photographer. Listen in as Rupert discusses all things Rally Colorado, including the history behind Rally Colorado moving to Rangely! A great story!

Cool story - Rupert was the official photographer for John McCain during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Sam Tolley was the latest guest on Two Girls, One Small Town. Sam grew up in and around Rangely and attended Rangely High School. He was an oilfield worker as well as a company owner in the community. Sam is known for his love of Rangely, generosity towards the community, understanding of the oil and gas industry as well as his conservative values. Listen in as he discusses his love of Rangely as well as his views on the community.

Our guest for this podcast is Jeff LeBleu, Supervisor of Public Works for the Town Rangely. Jeff is a long-time resident of Rangely and someone who loves to serve and give back to his community. Dana resides in Grand Junction, Colorado and her position in Amtgard is Baroness of Phoenix Rise. Nic is a resident of Rangely, Colorado and is the Sheriff of Yggdrasil's Oasis.
