Stop Chasing the Storm!
As a young girl, I was terrified of storms! I lived most of my youth traumatized by the mere thought of a storm coming. When a storm would come, you would find me somewhere in a corner hiding. This fear followed me through my adult life. When the storms of life appeared, I'd hid or isolated. It was exhausting. I felt like I was "chasing" storms!
I soon learned if I stopped chasing the storms they would lose their control over me. You see when you fear something it has control over you. Your storm could be worrying about getting sick, losing a job, relationship issues. If you look for bad things, guess what you find! In this episode I share THREE tips on how to stop chasing the storm, re-write the narrative associated with them and unleash the boss inside of you.
Remember all storms do not come into your life to destroy you; some come in to redirect you.
I encourage you to tune in now then subscribe for weekly doses of empowerment, motivation, and actionable strategies to help you thrive. Don't miss out on this transformative episode of the Boss Up Podcast!

It's Time to Make Better Choices!
Every day you wake up with a choice and an opportunity. What you do with it is your business. BUT since this podcast is about seeing your life as a business, YOU better make those choices count!
Y'all know every moment is a teachable moment for me. I came across this quote "Life is a series of choices followed by consequences". Well DANG! I had to clutch my pearls and take a deep breath because YEP! it was my own choices that got me in some of the mess I had to dig myself out of! Can you relate? Think about it - we can blame everybody and anybody but the only person responsible for us is US! Momma didn't do it. Daddy didn't do it. That horrible relationship or job didn't do it. We made those choices and now we are dealing with the consequences. Girl! that rocked my whole world and made me think about some things. Join me as I share some of the hard lessons I learned.

I am the poster child for that well WAS the poster child for that. Until I realize second guessing every decision was keeping me from living my dreams and creating a better life for myself. What kind of life? A life of peace. A life of harmony. A life of happiness. So I stopped, well slowed down! Y'all know I'm going to be honest with you.
People will tell you what to do but they are a bit stingy with the how to do it. Well in this episode. I share the "how"! So if you are ready, let's go.

It's Time to PIVOT!
The only constant in this thing called life, is CHANGE! If you're not willing to make changes in your life, your life will remain the same. But it's going to require you to completely change the way you do things. It's going to require you to step outside of your comfort zone. It's going to require you to do things that you've never done before.
In less than fifteen minutes, I share the blueprint needed to PIVOT like a BOSS! and become the best version of yourself. If you are ready, Let's Go!

It's Time To LEAD Like a BOSS!
Ever felt like there was something bigger that you supposed to be doing? For me it has been a nagging sensation that I cannot shake.
March is Women's History Month, an annual observation of all the amazing things women have done to contribute to society. And then there's this one day called International Women's Day, highlighted every March 8th, celebrating Women's Rights! Now I have my own feelings about women's rights because what rights!! but that's not what this episode is about. This episode is about "inspiring inclusion".

Welcome to another episode of the Boss Up podcast!!
Can we talk about the Super Bowl Half Time Show for one moment! Listen the only reason I watch the SuperBowl these days is the half-time show so you know I was up dancing and singing!!! Usher did his thang! There were so many hidden nuggets in that half-time show. He wanted to make an impact that would never be forgotten - and babee, he did just that!
Success is an understatement. Usher had 12 minutes to captivate the attention of new fans, make the old ones feel valued and leave an impact. If you ONLY had 12 minutes could you make a lasting impression on someone? I hope you said YES, but in most cases many are NOT able to make an impact in 12 minutes. In this episode we are going to talk about it.
SPOILER ALERT: Usher knew his mission! Do you know yours?
Here is a resource that will help you create a mission that will have you leaving those assigned to you wanting more. Check out this mini course Crafting Your Personal Mission Statement. The course works takes a few hours but the outcome has NO value! Let's define your mission!
I'm Giving All I Got!

Go Big or Stay Home - yes and some days we need to stay home! and be okay with it. In this episode, I share with how to "give all you got, without feeling guilty, shamed or embarrassed by what you have to give. If you are ready, Let's GO!

When the Holidays Are Anything but Cheerful!!
Hey Girl Hey!!!
The title I wanted to give this podcast was: Navigating the Holidays: From Eating Disorder Battles to Loneliness; but that seemed a little too long!
The holiday season is wrapped in joy for some, but for many, a tangled mix of emotions, struggles, and the not-so-pleasant. I've been there, navigating through the maze of family gatherings with a past that whispered anxiety into my ear. I get it, and I know some of you do too.
In this episode, we're diving deep into the real talk about the holidays. I'm peeling back the layers of my own struggles — from battling my eating disorder during Thanksgiving to feeling the echoes of loneliness post-divorce and when the kids flew the nest. Let's bring some life to the table and have an honest conversation about protecting our peace during this season.
Because here's the thing: Celebrations should uplift, not cause pain. Mental battles aren't mandatory, and you certainly don't have to dance to anyone else's tune. It's time to give yourself permission to put YOU first—just like they're doing. 🌟💖 So, grab your hot cocoa or whatever brings you comfort, and let's BossUp together through the holiday hustle. You've got this!

In this electrifying episode, as we honor his birthday, I'm taking you on a heartfelt journey down memory lane. We'll revisit some of the lessons he instilled in me, lessons that have been pivotal in my own transformation and healing.

How to Show UP for The New You
A few weeks ago, I shared an episode about how in order to grow you must step out of your comfort zone. I spoke about how you will NEVER reach the next level sitting in a place you are comfortable. The next version of you will require you to do something you've never done before. Then I did a follow up where I dug deeper; talking about how the next step in your journey will require a NEW version of you.
Listen! The family had a lot to say about those episodes, so I thought I'd give you a little more clarity on what showing up as a new version will look like.
It really does not matter where you are in the process. Whether you have recently made a decision to do something different or if you have been doing things different but now you are ready to scale to the next level. It will require a different version of you. It will require you to show up in a way you have never showed up before.
In this episode I share some tips and strategies on how to show up for the next phase of life. YES you will need to step out of your comfort zone. YES, you will need to do thing different. YES, you will lose some friends. YES, you will be talked about. YES, you will experience loneliness. BUT you will grow. You will learn to accept the new person and honestly... who cares what others think. You are Bossing UP! You are creating a life you love. I mean that's what it's about right?
This Requires a NEW You!
Every person has at least one area in their life they want to improve. Every person has at least one thing they wish they could forget; even if they understand that thing made them into the person they are today. But I want you to consider this, you will NEVER be able to let go of that memory or improve that area until you grow into a person that can see herself living differently.
In this episode, I talk about how and WHY it's important for you to grasp the concept that your new dreams will require a new version of you. If you're ready, let's go.
It's Time to Grow!
Regardless what phase you are in life; whether you are pursuing your first job or preparing to retire from your last job, change can be hard. It's difficult to see yourself doing ANYTHING different until you are willing to see yourself doing something different.
In this episode, we take a moment to consider what happens if you pursue growth instead of nursing your fears and apprehensions. I share a few intentional steps you can take to prepare yourself for change and ultimately growth. No one wants to feel stuck in a situation that is not serving them but very few people want to do what's required to get unstuck. But I know that is NOT you or you would not be listening to the BOSS UP podcast.
You realize it's time to BOSSUP and become the CEO of your own life. You know that if nothing changes nothing changes. But now I want you to consider, growth requires a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone.
Are You an Employee or a Boss?
If you have been following this podcast, you know it's about showing up as the CEO (boss) in your own life. It's about taking control of your actions so you can position yourself to be the best version of yourself . At some point in our lives we have all showed up as an employee in our own life. Let me explain real quick. If you have been overwhelmed by your to-do list because it's consumed with things you need to do for others, employee. If you are asking permission to do the things that make you happy because you are worried what others will think, employee. If you have said YES, when you wanted to say NO, employee. If you have made quick decisions because you felt time was against you, employee. I hope you get the point. A BOSS adds up the cost of every decision she makes. She is intentional with her time.
In this episode, I talk about being a Boss vs being an employee and how it is keeping you from accomplishing your goals, living the life you desire and keeping you stuck.

I Want That Life
Every person on this earth has at least one person they hold high regards towards. If you don't, we need to have a totally different conversation because you are lying to yourself and may need to go back and listen to last week's episode!
But what I'm seeing a lot of is people allowing the fake images of others to paralyze them and not go after their own dreams? Maybe you have dreams but have never seen anyone accomplish them, so you stay stagnate. Maybe you are having issues in your relationship while watching your friend's relationship bloom right before your eyes. I just want to encourage you to normalize being you! Standing Bold in who you are, realizing you are not a tree you can move any time you desire, and that you do not have to submit to someone else's timeline of what you should be doing with your time.
Every time you compare yourself to someone else you silently telling that little girl inside of you she is not enough. Stop that!
Okay now to this week's episode.
Who's Gonna Check Me, Boo!?!?
We have all been in at least one situation where our power has been tested. You know you have that person that think they can tell you what to do or how to act. I get it! I've been there several times and it's not fun. Often time making you feel forced to defend yourself and push back.
Once a victim of domestic abuse, I found after "leaving" the situation, instead of being extremely passive about how I allowed myself to be treated, I went to the other end of the spectrum and refused to allow anyone to mishandle me - cause who's gonna check me, Boo?
Well remember the way you do one thing is the way you do all things. I soon learned I could walk around with a "no check" attitude, but that accountability that I needed almost took my life.
In this episode of the BossUp Podcast, I talk about my experience and hopefully give you some insight on why accountability is not just needed but required to live your life to the fullest. You MUST find the balance - no we will not allow anyone to mishandle us and dictate how we live our lives, but we must be willing to deal with the consequences of our choices.
Leave a comment below and let me know what areas of your life have been tested and how you faced them and/or the person that tried to check you.
You Bleeding on People!
If you don't allow the wounds in your life to heal, you will bleed on the things you love.
Although women are some of the most emotional specimens on earth, we can hide our emotions even from ourselves. It's time to stop pushing the things that hurt us under the rug and start dealing with them. In this episode, I talk about why it's important to deal with the things that once hurt you and how it can hold you back from accomplishing the goals you have.
I would like to give a moment of silence for those who sacrificed their lives while serving the our country. You made the grand sacrifice and we appreciate it. Happy Memorial Day.
Dealing with Grief Like a Boss!
One of the things I despise is hearing someone say "you should be over that by now". How can you tell anyone when or how they should grieve? What is an appropriate amount of time to set aside to grieve? How do you know when the "grieving period" is over? Can you grieve something other than a person?
In this episode we talk about grief and answer all those questions and more. Last month I experienced a situation that made me revisit the losses in my life. It made me clutch my pearls and think about how I was living my life. It made me stop and re-evaluate the things that really matter in life. It made me dig deep inside of all the BS (belief systems) that I have been dealing with most of my life.
Grief sucks! It's one of the hardest but most essential things you will ever experience in life. But when it's done the right way, it will help you BOSS UP, grab the bull by the horn and make some adjustments! It sucks but it's a part of life. I just want you to handle it like a BOSS!
NOW pause - if you haven't had to deal with death this episode IS STILL for you! Grief is NOT just dealing with the death of a person. You can grieve a job, a friendship, a behavior, a status. If you are ready, let's go.
I also encourage you to pick up a copy of "What You're Hiding is Hindering Your Blessings". This book will help you identify some things in your life that you could be grieving and are not aware of it. It will also give you guidance on how to deal with them.
Until Next Time
Girl Unpack That Bag! Final
Imagine running through an airport with a carry on bag, your purse, holding a child's hand and talking on the phone. Something is going to get dropped or lost in the shuffle. But that is exactly what we are doing when we attempt to take on new opportunities in our life while holding on to things that no longer fit our lifestyle.
Some times it's hard to let go of things that we once saw potential in; but until you are willing to release them NOTHING else can come into your life. I hope you have enjoyed the Girl Unpack That Bag series. But now it's time to unpack, reorganize and get ready to tackle the things that will help you live YOUR BEST LIFE.
Girl Unpack that Bag pt 2
In part 1 we talked about the "stuff" we have in our baggage and why we hold on to those items, this week I want to talk about how to get rid of those items.
- What items do you have in your bag that need to be thrown away?
- What items are you storing thinking you may might them again?
- What items have you been looking for only to find them when you no longer need them?
Well the way you do one thing is the way you do all things!! If you don't get rid of the items you no longer need, it's going to be hard to pack the items you do need or you are going to find yourself buying stuff you don't need because they are somewhere hidden in a bag.
In today's episode, I will share HOW to get rid of those items so you can live your best life and enjoy your trip. If you ready, let's go.
Girl! Unpack That Bag!! Pt. 1
I have a lot of trips planned for the next few months and I'm super excited. BUT babee - I realized that before I could prepare for these amazing trips I had to unpack some stuff! Last year, we did a little bit of traveling and I left a few "essential traveling" items in my bag; like toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion. Well there was a few other items in that bag that I was not expecting to be there. In fact, I had looked for those items all winter and there they were sitting in a bag that I hadn't used for several months!
That's exactly what we are doing in life. We have stored things in our mental or emotional bags thinking we will need them again. Truth is it's time for you to unpack that bag so you can move on. This is a two part episode because I have soo much to share. Girl you know me it may even be three parts because I had a lot of ish in my bag that needed to be removed and I know you can relate! If you ready, let's go.
Are You Sabotaging Your Efforts?
In a previous episode, I spoke about how having motivation is not enough. It requires discipline and determination to change behaviors that we have grown to accept as our norms. But I will be the first to say even with the best discipline and determination, there are some behaviors I find hard to change. There are times I revert to old habits not intentionally but because they are part of my norm. I have to force myself not to do them! And even then I self-sabotage. It's so frustrating. Can you relate?
Well in this episode, I share my secret weapon for limiting my self-sabotaging behavior so I can be more successful in accomplishing my goals. If you are ready, let's go.
Are You A Variable or a Constant?
Hey Girl Hey!
You have a choice - you can show up as a variable or a constant in this thing called life! The choice is yours but be willing to deal with the consequences of that choice. In this episode I want to talk to you about how you are showing up. Because the way YOU SHOW up is exactly how people will deal with you.
You deserve to be the BOSS in your own life. You do NOT have to lower your standards because others won't step up to theirs. Life is full of opportunities and NO - just means there is a better opportunity on the horizon. Keep pushing forward and claim the space you want. YOU ARE THE BOSS!! claim your status.
Have an amazing week.
How to Tame Energy Drainers!
Hey Girl Hey!!
Have you ever wondered why after you've been in communion or conversation with certain people, you feel emotionally tired? They come into your life and suck all the life out of you. Whether it's because you have poured too much of yourself into them or their countenance was so heavy, you had to work extra hard to stay upbeat. These are called energy drainers.
In this episode I'm going to share FIVE reasons why energy drainers are able to come into your life and disrupt the harmony you have fought so hard to establish. The last one is going to change your life forever! If you are ready, let's go!!
Need more help in this matter? Check out my book, What You are Hiding is Hindering Your Blessing. The first step in any recovery, is acknowledging there is a problem. In this book, I share intimate stories of me identifying the problem and trying to hide behind a mask to cover it up. Don't be like me. Be better.
We Must Do BETTER!!
Hey Girl Hey!!
Hey Boss!
Energy is like money in the bank, once it's spent it's gone! Gone Forever!
I don't usually talk about romantic relationships because well... I don't have a lot of lived experience in the dating world. But you know I can find a life lesson in anything! When I was forwarded two songs from two different people, I knew I had to bring the lesson to the Bosses! Girlfriend if WE (women) don't get it together and do a better job vetting the people we give access to us, we are always going to find ourselves trying to recover from the hurt of other people. This recovery can come from romantic relationships as well as platonic relationships - because the way we do one thing is how we do all things.
Although you are NOT responsible for what people think of you, you are responsible for how you show up in this world and who you allow in your world. How can you invite someone to your table if you don't know what you want to be served at the table? It's time for US to do a better job interviewing people before giving them access OR we will continue to full time benefits to the WRONG people! The interview process has been lacking lately and well it's time for us to get some tips on how to do a better job. If you are ready, let's go.
WHAT'S IN YOUR CUP?
HEY GIRL HEY!!
WHAT'S IN YOUR CUP?
Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Just because it's in your cup does not mean you have to give it all away. In fact, what's in your cup is for you. You should be giving from your overflow!
As women it's important that we learn to balance and live a life of reciprocity.
Join me in the SheShed as I chat with Dr. Sherell Edwards the CEO of THREE Florida-based LLCs and a Holistic Healthcare Practitioner. Dr. She explains how she manages it all and still take time for herself.
Stop Giving Access to EVERYBODY!
As a BOSS, you must limit your availability to everyone. You cannot be everything to everyone. YOU ARE NOT EVERY WOMAN! You are your woman. You get to decide who gets access to you.
In this episode, I talk about:
- The THREE types of people to consider giving access to you.
- How that access should look
- Who fits into each category.
If you are ready, let's go.
Are Women Running From Feminity?
There is so much talk about women NOT being feminine enough. We are running corporations. We are starting our own businesses. Many have waited to have babies later in life or not at all. Then you have the side where women are being "forced" to take care of the households because our men counterparts aren't. But is this a reality or just something being talked about in the media?
Well I sat down with Allyson Bell, the Founder and CEO of Rising Goddess Wellness and we put it all on the table. Allyson left her job as a registered nurse to start her coaching business because she wanted to teach women how to embrace their femininity. Well, let me just say this conversation was an eye opener for me. It helped me to see the truth about feminine and masculine energy. Come inside the SheShed and hear what she said.
This Boss Mindset Hits Different
This Podcast is a glimpse into the BossUP: Becoming the CEO of Your Own Life coaching program offered by Master Life Coach and Life Strategy Coach Tina Bailey. The program is designed to help women in leadership roles see themselves as a business and market themselves a the product.
Once you realize you are the CEO of Your Own Life you can demote, promote or terminate anything that no longer serves a purpose in your life. In my world, being a BOSS is being Bold, Optimistic, Strategic and Self-reliant. It's about living your life on your own terms. It's about finding harmony and dancing to the beat of your own drums. It's about living a life you love instead of trying to make something out of the life you were given.
In this episode, I dive into a personal thought of how life have evolved over the generations, but how if we aren't careful we are going to pass our insecurities and fears on to our children and then to their children. Imagine if your children truly believed they were the prize and lived as the prize. Imagine if your children understood the power they hold by marketing themselves as their biggest intellectual property. Imagine if your children weren't afraid to take a risk and do the things that made happy instead of the things people said they should be doing.
NOW imagine if you did that!!! It's time to let go of insecurities and fears, small thinking and limited beliefs and start living the life you were created to live. You are the prize! You are the best product on the market. I just need to you to believe it.
