Friendly Completions

By Kristina Turner

When I turned 73 in 2022, I decided to face the boxes on the top shelf of my closet. Five hefty bank-boxes filled with journals dating back to 1984 - the year I started writing The Self-Healing Cookbook! I wonder, who else has 125 journals stashed away in their closet?? What are you doing with these? What wants to be shared? How widely? And most importantly, how friendly can completions be? Welcome to my podcast, Friendly Completions. Part memoir, part self-healing reflection, part here's-how-you-too can explore self-healing journaling!

Episode 6: Healing After Birth

Episode 6: Healing After Birth

I feel tender and excited to bring you this new episode. I gave birth to Calen when I was 40, in 1990. And as I re-read my journals from that time, I am appreciating that every body has a birth story to tell. Even if your parents never told you the story of your birth, your body knows. Discovering my own body's birth story has been a many decades exploration. And I often thank my child for leading the way with healing birth play. While birthing this episode I have experienced a stream of emotions - sadness, fear, anger, joy and gratitude--deepening my connection with family, friends and healing sidebys. I invite you to breathe with me as I share the story of my own birth, giving birth, and healing after birth. I would love to hear what you are discovering about your own healing after birth. Episode 5: When Life Re-Writes the Script

Episode 5: When Life Re-Writes the Script

Friendly Completions result when life rewrites the script and we make a new choice - to improvise! As I re-read journals from over 30 years ago, I am appreciating how courageously I improvise. You'll hear how after my beloved Rich died I made the surprise-myself-choice to open my heart to Matthew, my new, playful and vibrant mate. I bravely invite Matthew here, to share appreciations for our lasting friendship and compare memories of our first lover's fight! I share a great reading list of creative women’s memoirs whose daring choices inspire me. I read to you from Rich’s heartfelt journal about his Golden Path through cancer, and answer listener questions about how to create your own self-healing journal.  Listener feedback inspires me to go deep! Kristina asks Brian about the spiritual inspiration for his songs. His lyrics say it all: “Casting nets on the ocean of dreams, I’m harvesting the muse….From a realm of light, she’s casting down a spell - into our lives, into our hearts, into our minds and into our souls.” Enjoy the whole song here.

Episode 4: More Like a Birth

Episode 4: More Like a Birth

From my heart to yours, I am inviting listeners into the most intimate, transformational year of my life. Journey with me as I remember my husband Rich's dying day, marrying Matthew, discovering we're pregnant, and my doctor's wise prescription to "Go to bed, rest and journal!" After 34 years, I reconnect with and interview Brian Lambert, one of the magical musicians who showed up the day Rich died. I'm thrilled that both Robin Berkeley and Brian share music here to transport you to the luminous energy field surrounding Rich as he made his way out of this world. If you have also experienced a dear one's fully completed presence at death, I would love to hear your story. Episode 3: Love and Transformation

Episode 3: Love and Transformation

What makes a completion friendly? 34 years after my husband Rich's death, I am re-reading my journals, feeling such gratitude for his friendly completion with life. He died surrounded by singing friends. Friends listening deeply, following intuitions, and presencing radiant love.  My friend and colleague Crystal Dawn Rios, Jyotisha astrologer and creator of the Conscious Loving Lab, joins me to share a Vedic astrology reading on how the stars aligned to bless my marriage with Rich. I share tender stories of how our love deepened and transformed as Rich followed what he called "The Golden Path".

Healing Mother Roots

Healing Mother Roots

I'm on an inner quest, rereading journals I have stored in my closet for almost 40 years. I'm discovering how to free my body. For my body, like these journals, is a storehouse of feelings not yet fully felt. Episode 2 delves into healing feelings about mothers.  Myo-fascial release practitioner Ronelle Wood joins me exploring how to encourage easy release of old stories we each hold in our bodies about our moms. I share a self-healing story about listening to my own body as my mom was dying. And, my perfectionist has the last word!

What are you doing with these? What wants to be shared? How widely?  And most importantly, how friendly can completions be?

As I began to read, underline, transcribe, take snap-shots of drawings, laugh outloud, cry, choose what to keep and what pages to tear out and take to recycling, I sensed a new form emerging. Part journal excerpts, part self-healing reflection, part here's what you, too, might explore doing with your journals!

So, I'm birthing this Friendly Completions podcast to bring you one episode each month in 2023. I look forward to hearing your feedback!
