Male breast cancer with Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon Ross Mclean and Specialist Breast Care Nurse Emily Turnbull

Male breast cancer with Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon Ross Mclean and Specialist Breast Care Nurse Emily Turnbull

Breast cancer is often thought of as something that only affects women, but men can get it in rare cases. It grows in the small amount of breast tissue men have behind their nipples. It usually happens in men over 60, but can very occasionally affect younger men. There are about 350 men diagnosed each year in the UK.

This compares to around 55,000 cases in women. About 1 in 100 (about 1%) of breast cancer cases in the UK are in males.

Ross and Emily , talk to Caroline Tweedie about the risk factors associated with male breast cancer, symptoms of male breast cancer, diagnosing the cancer, treatment and follow up.
