Animation and Artist Support with Alys Scott-Hawkins
On this episode of The Blue Moggy Podcast, Artist and Animation, Alys Scott-Hawkins talks about her career and her new work supporting Artists.
Alys is an artist and a specialist in artist support. Her background is in animation, and she worked for 12 years as a freelance animation director, making documentary shorts for charities and not-for-profit organisations. Her films have screened on broadcast TV and at many international film festivals, winning multiple awards. She’s worked as a Senior Lecturer in Animation, and run programmes of support for visual artists, and now works freelance to provide support to creative practitioners of all kinds, helping people to overcome obstacles and get funding for their work.
Alys’ work as an artist begins with drawing from observation, and from there becomes collage, painting and moving image. Autobiographical themes of grief, parenthood and perimenopause have recently produced new directions, connecting with nature in urban life, and searching for magic and solace.
