55. The War On Flexible Plant-Based Eating (I'm Getting Sick Of This Conversation) 🤦🏼♀️
I’m quite passionate about this topic from a nutrition standpoint as I have found a ‘predominantly’ plant-based approach or 90% I like to call it, works for my body and is sustainable long-term. I think there’s a big issue when it comes to everyone arguing about who’s ‘the most vegan’ or shutting others down if they don’t exactly fit the criteria or are ‘up to the standard’ ❌
This can become harmful if people feel like they aren’t handling the diet well which can come down to many reasons such as poor planning or supplementation, not eating enough calories or variety. However, everyone absorbs nutrients better than others, have different lifestyles or even different mental health or processes that allow some to plan and cook better meals than others who can physically only throw together some quick white carbs at the end of the day, with little to no nutrition 🍞
We need to remember that everyone is individual, some even have health concerns that cause their body to thrive off DIFFERENT foods, or allergies that make getting enough variety and nutrients difficult. We can’t pretend everyone is the EXACT same cut out as everyone else on the planet, and if someone doesn’t stick within the black and white guidelines it doesn’t mean they are a bad person 🌱
I don’t enjoy talking about this as it always gets some kind of backlash, but at the same time I think it’s important to take a stand and share this perspective as it may help people who are trying to find the right approach for them, or inspire others in the vegan community to meet others where they’re at and make it a more welcoming and kind place 👥

- From getting kicked out in the middle of the pandemic while the borders to my home country were closed with no car and no friends yet, or support network 🤦🏼♀️
- Issues around self worth from having others girls constantly as a threat and wondering why I wasn’t ‘enough’ 👎🏼
- Getting kicked out of the next place and needing to wash my underwear and socks in the sink all weekend in-between double shifts because I couldn’t access any of my stuff 🧦
- Moving to GC to a retreat/commune that turned weird and getting called an animal abuser because I had to keep my dog in my room at all times, but if I didn’t I would literally be homeless out on the street again 😡
- Almost getting a job at a gym but breaking my toe and needing x-rays and the bone straightened out, so being laid off while I recover for 6 weeks and having no access to government support while my foot needed to be elevated 💰
- Getting the food truck taken off me with 7 days notice after pouring my heart and soul into it and only being live for 6 weeks 🌮
- Getting threats to my safety and needing to call the police, having no safe space to call my own where I can completely relax and be myself for a very long time 🏠
I didn’t want this to be a ‘poor me’ episode, but more what I’ve learnt and how I’ve grown from the hardest times that you don’t see online that I hope can inspire others to keep pushing through 🦋

41. Why I Take A Less Rigid Approach To Plant-Based Eating (the difference between being plant-based & vegan)
This video was made on a whim after a comment I received on one of my Instagram posts when I shared what a 90% approach means to me. I totally understand from an ethical point of view and the feedback was well written in a kind and constructive way. But I wanted to expand on this approach, although it's a touchy subject.
By incorporating salmon a few times a month (as I crave it around my cycle), it simply just makes me feel better and I haven't found a mock meat that can replace the same fattiness feel, unlike vegan chicken which is a massive staple in my diet.
I want to open the doors and expand on this as I feel so many people don't even try going vegan in the first place because they feel it's too restrictive. But if it wasn't as intimidating with less pressure to be 'perfect', I feel a larger portion of the population would be more open to it.
Once again, from an ethical standpoint I understand this may upset some people. But from an individual health stand point I hope this video encourages people to at least get their foot in the door and adopt a more plant-based lifestyle.
At the end I also discuss a few points as to whether veganism is a government agenda? Interesting...
I'm trying my best to bridge the gap between two worlds!
