Lʻamoureuse Song

Lʻamoureuse Song

Lʻamoureuse is originally by Carla Bruni an Italien-French Singer, songwriter and actress. She is also married the president of France in 2008 and still makes music.  I always thought she had a beautiful voice and playful lyrics.  This is one of my favorite songs to sing because the meaning changes for me every I play it.

Translation:

It seems someone conveid hope

Streets are gardens, I dance on the sidewalks

It seems my arms became wings

That in every moment that flies I can touch the sky

That in every moment that goes by I can eat the sky

The bell towers are tilted, the trees are in a nonsense

They collapse under the flowers on the most red of autumn

Snow doesn't melt anymore, rain is slowly singing

And even streetlights have an impatient sight

And even stones want to look important

Because I'm the lover, Yes I'm the lover

And I hold in my hands the only of all things

I'm the lover, I'm your lover

And I sing for you the only of all things

That needs to be here, that needs to be here

Time stopped, hours are changing

The minutes are freezing and the boredom makes wreck

Everything seems unknown, everything crunches under the teeth

And the noise of sorrow slowly goes away

And the noise of the past is just silent now

Oh, the walls change their stones

The sky changes his clouds

The life changes manners and dance mirages

It was seen was I told that destiny showed up

He looked like nothing, seemed to take everything

He got your look, your manner of speak

Because I'm the lover, Yes I'm the lover

And I hold in my hands the only of all things

I'm the lover, I'm your lover

And I sing for you the only of all things

That needs to be here, that needs to be here

A Powerful loverʻs lament

A Powerful loverʻs lament

There are many moʻolelo (stories) about The Great Goddess Poliahu, she can be seen adorning the slopes of Mauna Kea.  Always living precariously close to her passionate sister Pele.  Both attracted many handsome chiefs to their shores. Upon snatching a rather wish washy lover ʻAiwohu, Poliahu is heart broken when ʻAiwohu never returns to fulfill his promises to her. She calls for her sweetheart to come but he never does. And on the days that ʻAiwohu tries to consummate his other marriage, The Goddess unleashes her powers of the cold, forcing the fickle chief to leave the one he chose instead.

Kaulana Nā pua

Kaulana Nā pua

Dancing hula was pivotal at keeping ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi alive, especially after 1896ʻs language ban, spanning 4 generations which prohibited "by any means" Hawaiians to speak their mother tongue. In 1893ʻs The illegal annexation of the Hawaiian Kingdom (there was no "joint treaty") and there was less then half of Hawaiian eligible to vote for Statehood...There was a total of 21,269 signatures with 21,109 signatures of Hawaiian subjects and 160 signatures of resident aliens of Hawaii that opposed becoming apart of the U.S after itʻs military occupation.  This song was ushered by the Royal band to be written by Eleanor Kekoaohiwaikalani Wright Prendergast (April 12, 1865 – December 5, 1902) whose home was at the foot of Kapalāma. This song voices to the hearts of Indigenous everywhere, it is timeless. In my schooling we were taught this song and would dance it in front of tourist unbeknownst to what the words really mean...curious? I created a video with the translations, and where to find the original song go to my twitter page @camilledee33. I hope you enjoy my edits xoxo

Aloha mai

Singing the Blues in French to feel the feels

Singing the Blues in French to feel the feels

Jacque Brel or Nina Simone?

I used Ninaʻs tempo and Brelʻs francophone flare to soothe and feel my feelings.  Feeling your feelings through art is therapeutic and cathartic join me! The Nation wide protests to seek justice for the racist murders is sweeping our hearts, minds, bodies and soul. Right now your friends and family are being met by the very weapon they are peacefully protesting against. The protests are being used as subversions by alt groups to induce Chaos and confuse the message. Let it be clear, Black Lives Matter. Using force to subdue a marginalized group with chemicals, rubber bullets ect...with the National Guard and I.C.E, in a global pandemic is not okay. We cannot sit comfortably no more...capitalism and slavery has given me unearned privileges inherit from the system my white ancestors spent a century building, after the 3 centuries white supremest ran the largest most heinous human trafficking ring.  Retribution in the last 100 years has not been enough, "rasisicm is not getting worse its just getting filmed." We need to institute Generational healing as a requirement in schools right after history classes and along side other required courses such as algebra.

We must take time to unpack the internalized racism We all carry being conditioned from a society that has yet to take accountability, validate and make change.  Use your white, white-passing, person of color, or light skin privilege to dismantle racism by the root of our hearts, minds and government. The oppression ends here with education, conversations and retributions that are going center the needs and lives of black people. Check in with your Black friends, do not drain their energy, do your research and support support support!

All love!

These are the English translations:

Don't leave me
We must forget
All can be forgotten
That has already passed away
Forget the time
Of misunderstandings
And the time lost
Trying to know "how"
Forget those hours
That sometimes kill
With slaps of "why"
The heart of happiness
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me

I will give to you
Pearls made of rain
From countries
Where it never rains
I will work the land
All my life and beyond
To cover your body
With gold and with light
I will make a land
Where love will be king
Where love will be law
Where you will be queen
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me

We've often seen
Fire flowing again
From an ancient volcano
Considered too old
It's said that there are
Fire-scorched lands
That yield more wheat
Than the best April
And when evening comes
With a burning sky
The red and the black--
Are they not joined together?
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me

Don't leave me
I won't cry anymore
I won't talk anymore
I will hide over there
To watch you
Dance and smile
And to hear you
Sing and then laugh
Let me become
The shadow of your shadow
The shadow of your hand
The shadow of your dog
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me
Don't leave me

Just what the Doctor Ordered!

Just what the Doctor Ordered!

Read Along by clicking  Here, a BDSM relationship between a client and doctor.

"He read my body's reactions so easily it was like he'd known me for years. He read the tension starting to build, the strain in my stomach and legs. He felt my arousal and knew an orgasm was building before I did. To this day, I believe that is true."

Would you like me to read the whole story? Share this Podcast to your social and I will upload the other half.

Building resilience w/ My favorite song to Hula: Lāʻieikawai

Building resilience w/ My favorite song to Hula: Lāʻieikawai

May Day in Hawaii is Lei day! Spring is in the air, colors, flowers a bloom! The tradition to make garlands/wreaths..a.k.a Lei

In Hawaiian school systems Every May  showcase dance with a twist of competition and monarch revival to honor our traditions of passing on stories and mana (power) through song and dance.

Depending on your school some require everyone to participate, each class has a certain song/dance/costume...a story to share and present

No matter what system the public, charter or private school adopted for May Day they all shared the choosing of select Hula dancers whom audition to be apart of the Royal Court. There is a princess and/or Prince for every island representing the flower/color of that island. They dance together at the Hōʻike (showcase) and then the Queen of the court has her individual dance.    I was confident when I auditioned in front of all the possible dancers that I would at least place as one of the Princesses....I auditioned for May Day Court with Lāʻieikawai, because My dear Kumu Hula (teacher) taught this dance and sung it so beautifully it brought tears to my eyes.  As predicted I become Princess... of Lanai which is represented by the color Orange.

A star pupil my class known as a "daughter" of the School (attending since 3years old) won the crown.  I knew she would win and I was really calm and satisfied with the tide of things...until The rehearsal and It crashed down on me that the Queen had chosen my beloved Lāʻieikawai to dance to...

I felt my gut wrench with possessive anger then fall as I become grateful for the chance to pull her to the side

Before she went of stage the day of the performance.

I voiced my curiousness about her choice in the same dance she had witness me audition to... I told her how very special the dance is to me, and that It means so much that it is going to be danced... So, do it well.

She could only nod. I look back wondering when the rage or sadness subsided and if it had left my eyes when I spoke to her. I look back now reflecting on how far I have grown using my voice and not carrying resentment.

I feel a great release whenever I get to dance or sing it now. Itʻs such a triumph to share love!
