Listen to this episode to get an update on my two week solo trip throughout Mexico, as well as a detailed month by month breakdown of how much money I made, how much I didn't make each month, and exactly how I created it. Learn how I separate my personal and business finances to make my life easier. I also share how intentional I was about paying off almost $10,000 in business credit card debt. I destigmatize getting into debt to run your business because not all of us have a daddy like Jeff Bezos, who wrote him a check for $245k to start Amazon.

84. True Self Care Isn't a Treat with Soledad
I'm so happy for y'all to listen in on this episode with one of my good friends and fellow nonbinary latinx money coach, Soledad, to talk all about how important self care is to your life and money journey. Listen to learn all about how we deserve to thrive, and to do that, Soledad explains their DIVERSE self care model.
Rita-Soledad Fernández Paulino is a Queer Mexican-American, former math teacher turned self-care & money coach. As the CEO of Wealth Para Todos Soledad is determined to make sure more BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ+ folk learn how to self-care themselves to financial independence so they can work because they want to, not because they have to.
Through their coaching programs, weekly email series, and engaging social media content on Instagram, Threads and LinkedIn, they teach people how to create and follow a financial plan that prioritizes self-care and puts them on track to becoming work optional. Fun fact: Soledad is allergic to Benadryl and cishetero patriarchal norms!

Listen to this episode to hear all about my queer latina client, Keli, and her massive money coaching transformations while working with me as her money coach. We not only focused on crushing her credit card debt and boosting her credit score, but we also worked on her better communicating her needs with loved ones and valuing her self care. She shares an exciting win that's all about how she is getting in touch with her spirituality!
We also celebrated these wins:
-Starting therapy
-Holding herself accountable for your self care
-Going to yoga, the chiropractor, and acupuncture. Dzayum!
-Going to the gym because she wanted to show up for HERSELF and not just a personal trainer
-Opening a high yield savings account to get more interest back
-Finding her dream apartment an moving in with her girlfriend
82. Why You Should be a Roth FREAK
I break down the differences and similarities between Roth IRAs and Roth 401(k)s and why I love these investment accounts so much. I share how I started my investing journey and how I max out my Roth IRA each year as a low income earner because that's the only way I know I'll be able to retire early.
Roth IRAs and Roth 401(k)s use the money from your paycheck that has already been taxed, like the money that hits your high yield savings account from your paycheck every two weeks.
When you invest that money in a Roth, it grows TAX FREE. When you take that money out to fund your life during retirement, you won’t have to worry about paying taxes on it, because you already did that decades ago.
Investing in Roth investment accounts puts you on team tax-me-now-and-leave-me-the-f-alone in retirement. This sound like you?

Here is my blog post about my experience in English.
80. Dump That Checking Account
This episode is all about why you should dump that checking account and u-haul it with your high yield savings accounts.
There's absolutely no reason to keep your cash/emergency fund in a checking account. Checking accounts have low interest rates. There's no reason to pay your credit cards from your checking accounts, either. High Yield Savings Accounts make your money grow more while you wait to pay your bills.
The only drawback to high yield savings account vs checking accounts is that you can only withdraw 10x a month (for Ally at least). The easy fix? Open multiple, free high yield savings accounts instead so you don't get worried about the limit.
Every day matters when it comes to letting your cash grow, and the right account matters. Keep your emergency fund in a high yield savings account and pay your credit cards from them too, so your cash earns astronomically higher interest while it sits there.

77. Reflections on Wealth Building while Microdosing 🍄
In this episode, I share how I'm on week two of microdosing 🍄 and taking an unexpected break from drinking! I decided to try microdosing for a month, which was a big change for me because my Virgo self has had the identity of being all or nothing for so long. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a lightweight. I don't even need to drink to twerk alone in public, but gimme 2 margaritas, I'ma go to bed!!
A big reason I stopped drinking at first was because the New Year's alcohol deals ended here in Puerto Vallarta. Then after day 2, I noticed I was having massive sugar cravings because my body had gotten used to the mezcalitas I'd bought with the 2 x 1 mezcal. And those piña coladas with that Flor de Caña rum that I drank in Nicaragua while in the Peace Corps. The withdrawals were a reminder that alcohol is heavily sugar. Oop!
I wasn't intending to have a dry January, but so far, that's what's happened, especially when I decided to try out microdosing. Not sure if not drinking is permanent, but so far, it's what's happened. I and my friends have also said that mushrooms curb alcohol cravings. Makes sense, since psilocybin has been used to treat alcohol use disorder.
What's been hard/annoying has been dealing with social pressure from mostly bartenders to drink. "But you're on vacation!" one said to me. First, no I'm not, and second, I don't need to drink to enjoy a vacation.
I'd never really microdosed for so long and used to do pretty intense trips. My thought process was "why would you microdose when you can fix so much more with intense trips?" And then I realized they weren't "fixing" me how I thought they would. So, I thought, why don't I just microdose and see what happens? It's helped a lot with my anxiety and to stop overthinking.
So far, I feel less internal noise and "worse case" thoughts.
I'm leaning more into my creativity outside of just art and realizing that creativity means more than drawing. It means doing things differently and exposing yourself to different people, environments, foods, places, and activities.
In the past 2 weeks, I've incorporated doing things differently and I'm showing you how simple it can be once you get started.
76. How to Be Strategic with Debt Like a Rich Person
Rich people get into debt all the time. They just call it "leverage." Prince Harry had to borrow money to buy his house in Santa Barbara. The US Government is $34 trillion in debt. Debt isn't a bad thing, but spending time feeling guilty about it is. In this episode, I talk about to be strategic with debt and how it can actually help you grow you build wealth.
I share how I think about my debt as a business owner and how business credit card debt is a normal part of doing business. I also share how I help my clients pay off their debt, as well as when and if I choose to take on debt as a strategic move.
75. Confidently manage your business finances
As a single income earner who has made $170k in sales since starting my business, I haven't come across any programs that focus specifically on how the f*ck to manage your business finances. Entrepreneurship is a great way to make more money and retire early, but managing your money can be overwhelming.

74. Why You Should Leave Wells Fargo/Bank of America
Time to leave them! One argument why people stay with them is that they feel like in person banks are "safer". In person banks aren't necessarily "safer" than online banks. Listen to this episode to learn about how Wells Fargo has physical branches and has horrible interest rates and scammed millions of people into creating fake accounts without their consent with the ghost accounts scandal.
Online banks like Ally give you way better interest rates because they pass off the savings of not having brick and mortar branches onto YOU. Same with the Charles Schwab debit card. They don't have ATMs, but I take out as much cash as I need every few days from any ATM all over the world and don't have to pay ATM or exchange fees.
Meanwhile, Bank of America has physical branches. I remember not knowing any better and using their debit card to get cash out and getting dinged when I didn't use a BOA ATM. And their interest rates were/are trash. Physical branches does NOT mean better or safer at all.
I help my clients rethink where they park their cash so that they get more money back in interest. Once you're smarter with your cash, you'll be smarter with investing for early retirement.

As someone who has invested over $30k in business coaching, I haven't come across any programs that focus specifically on how the f*ck to manage your business finances, which is why I share my journey. 68. How to Crush Credit Card Debt
Credit card debt in the US has reached a record of $930 billion.Paying off your credit cards matters because this is one of the most expensive forms of borrowing money. You can either use the avalanche or snowball methods to payoff your cards. Personally, I prefer the avalanche method because it tackles the higher interest rate (aka more expensive debt).Listen to this episode to learn about where to pull the money from and how I helped a client grow her credit score by paying off $30k in credit card debt after a few sessions with me.Paying off your credit cards helps you retire early. 67. How to improve your spending habits
In this episode, I talk all about how to improve your spending habits so you can retire sooner. These are 2 types of spenders: 1. The YOLO/I won't look at my credit card statements spender 2. The im-terrified-of-bieng-poor-again-so-l-guiIt-myself-out-of-treating-myself spender 1. If you're a YOLO spender, you struggle saying no to overpriced dinners/excursions with friends because you don't want to upset people. You feel a sigh of relief when someone around you says no because they can't afford it, and you wish you could be that up front. The truth is that saying no doesn't just help your budget now, it will help you have more money to invest so 75 year old you is taken care of. Instead of wondering if you can afford something now, ask, "can my 75 year old self afford this?" Automate your savings to a specific account that you can only touch for a certain goal, like an emergency fund or trip to Italy. 2. For those who don't spend at all outside your needs, I feel you! As a child, I compensated for my family's emotional turmoil and money trauma by identifying as "the saver." I didn't feel like I deserved "everyday nice" things like massages. As an over saver, remember that life is short and that you shouldn't wait until you're 75 to live it. Incorporate a weekly/monthly "treat yourself" event, like a spa day or hiring a personal trainer. See this is an investment in yourself NOW. 51% of people making $100k still live paycheck to paycheck. Making more money won't change your money habits. I see this all the time with my clients. Lifestyle creep is real, but so is making more money and still feeling too anxious to spend/invest it. Work with me 1:1 to improve your money habits so you can take control of your money. Book a call here to get started. 🦄
66. What the 2024 IRA Limits Mean For Your Retirement
The 2024 IRA limit has been raised to $7k a year! $8k if you're over 50! Listen to this episode to learn about why this matters and how IRAs are the key to early retirement. You can leave your side hoe AKA brokerage account alone until you max this juicy, tax advantaged account FIRST at the start of each year. The longer you wait, the more you're missing out on tax free growth. Every 3 months, companies pay out interest in the form of "dividends." These dividends compound more than basic AF interest in a savings account when you're reinvesting them. $7k invested each year for 15 years: about $232,635. A whopping $120,635 of that comes from your money growing ITSELF. Tax free, if in a Roth IRA! You CANNOT get these gains from a savings account. Investing grows money better long term. Do you know you need to get started with investing but want help? Book a call here get started with 1:1 coaching; https://calendly.com/travelercharly/clarity?month=2021-03
65. How to Grow Your Mailing List
I've grown my mailing list to about 500 people in 2 years and I wanted to share how I did it. Having a business is a great way to add extra income so you can reach financial independence sooner. Having a mailing list is a great way to market that business and let people know about your services! It's also a great way to bypass getting banned/blocked on social media and any social media outages that happen.
Listen to this episode to learn what to avoid, what platform to use, and to keep your followers ready to buy whatever service you offer.

64. Re-release: How to Avoid Lifestyle Creep
Making more money won't automatically improve your money habits. Making more but not saving more? Listen to this episode from last year that I recorded to learn about how to avoid lifestyle creep. Lifestyle Creep is when you end up spending more on wants than needs when you make more money. It's something I help my clients avoid. I had a client who hired me as her money coach because she wanted to avoid lifestyle creep. Tbh, when she told me this, I had to Google "lifestyle Creep" before we met because I'm so used to investing extra money instead of buying things 🤣. But then I realized that I, too, have fallen prey to it and it's okay because now I'm more intentional. While working together, She made serious moves and even bought a freaking house as in on track to retire early!! She made more than I did but most of my clients make more than I do! I love helping them move past the guilt of making more money than ever and turn that into action. Listen to this episode to learn how I went from having a crappy Bank of America cash back card and no credit to growing my credit score to 808. I share how opening credit cards is good for your credit score and how opening 5 cards a year boosted my credit score. Once you understand the credit cards game, it's easier to see them as an investment in your future. Having an 800 credit score is part of retiring early because it can help you get access to better interest rates on loans like mortgages, saving you tens of thousands of dollars over time. 61. How to build sustainable food & money habits w/ health coach Samantha Lee
In this episode, I talk with health coach Samantha Lee about deprogramming all the unhealthy generational wounds we've inherited when it comes to eating and money. We break down inherited food scarcity how that often applies to money too, especially when you grow up first gen. Budgeting can often feel unsustainable and overwhelming like a diet, and we're here to tell you that it doesn't have to be this way. We've been guilted into thinking that ethnic foods aren't healthy and that the white, unflavored way of eating is the healthy way. Guess what? You don't have to eat chicken breast and broccoli be healthy.
Samantha Lee is a Hmong-American, the eldest daughter of refugee/immigrant parents, a speaker, and a health coach that helps women of color (WOC) lose weight and break out of following racist diet culture rules.
Her work was inspired by her 10-year health journey where she felt the need to strip her cultural identity to fit into society's standard of "white healthy". Samantha's mission is to voice the cultural differences in the health/fitness industry so WOC can take control of their bodies by eating the foods from their background without shame. She is a WOC stop dieting expert and a health advocate for her community.

58. Self Compassion Makes Millions with My Business Coach, Cat del Carmen
I'll never forget the day I sat on the beaches of Playa del Carmen in 2021 and sold $3,000 in Tesla stock to hire my first coach ever, business coach Cat del Carmen. I was the first in my family to hire a coach. Hiring her was what took me treating my money coaching as a "side hustle" to treating my business like an actual business. Before hiring her, I was making a couple hundred a month. A month after hiring her, I doubled my investment and made $7,500 in sales.
If you're wondering what it takes to level up your business and make more money and feel good becoming rich, this episode is for you. We talk all about how being a business owner requires daily growth and mindset worth, especially in our capitalistic system. I truly believe her work is as anticapitalistic as it gets, as she helps marginalized folks become the sources of their wealth, and that wealth is generated from our thoughts.
Cat Del Carmen is a business coach, wife, and mami who teaches WOC how to scale to six figures in their coaching business. Cat grew her business from $10k to $200k cash in a single year by focusing on client results, becoming an expert at marketing and selling, and now she teaches her clients the same process that helped her scale while simplifying. Cat is the host of, Latinas Booked Out Podcast, which has over 100k downloads, where she teaches her concepts, and philosophies of growing a coaching business through trauma-informed, high-integrity, business practices. 52. Post Divorce Money Moves with the Investing MILF, Bindu
Bindu hired me as her money coach because financially, she was on her own for the 1st time post divorce. She wanted to move forward without fear. By working together, she went from being newly single to being the ungovernable zebra MILF in a committed relationship with her investing apps! I help clients return to themselves before, during, and after a divorce. After her divorce, Bindu spent two years without any help and was doing this on her own. Listen to this episode to learn all about how Bindu is THRIVING now. A lot of people stay in relationships because of the financial aspect, but it doesn't have to be this way. You can gain independence by making some basic choices, taking small steps, working with someone who knows what they’re doing, and helping you get out of whatever situation you’re in and getting you into a better situation. Bindu went from feeling guilty for spending money to taking herself out to fabulous dinners and celebrating herself. Now, she's able to invest in herself and feel good about it. She had a 401(k) and didn’t know anything about it. While working with me, her 401(k) went from $49,000 to $57,000 in 6 months. Her credit score grew by 53 points too. She's excited to check her 401(k) now. After doing the math, she'll have $600,000 in it in just a few years! Being in control of your money is how you become excited to make your first million. 51. Gender Magic, Pleasure, and Intimacy w/ Rae McDaniel
I have been shouting from the rooftops about non-binary sex therapist Rae McDaniel's new book, Gender Magic, since it came out. It has really helped me look past internalized transphobia and shame, ESPECIALLY as it's come up for me in dating while trans. It's reminded me that trans folks not only deserve basic human rights, but that we are f'in magical, desirable, and that we deserve all the pleasure in the world. Listen to this episode to learn more about the process of writing the book, gender freedom, intimacy, pleasure, and self care. Their book, Gender Magic, is gold for anyone who is an LGBTQIA+ individual and who wants to be a more informed ally/person who is lucky enough to date a queer/trans person and/or have us in your life!
Rae McDaniel (they/them) is a non-binary Speaker, Author, Therapist, Certified Sex Therapist, Coach, and Transgender Diversity and Inclusion Educator.

48. Stocks Are Sexy and So Is Doubling Your Business Revenue with Gloria Malone
On this episode, I chat with my money coaching client and Aries Goddess, Gloria Malone, about how she's doubled her business revenue month to month since launching her own business in January of 2023. Listen to learn about what mindset shifts she's made on her wealth building journey, as well as how she's balanced running her own businesses while maxing out her 9-5 job benefits.
Gloria was one of my first clients when I first started my money coaching business 3 years ago. I had no idea how much my biz would take off at the time, but I knew after quitting my stock broker job that I wanted to help LGBTQ+/BIPOC understand how to set their retirement accounts up correctly. In 2020, Gloria realized that her 401(k) from her new job wasn't invested and was going straight to cash, losing value to inflation. We changed the $1,000 in her 401(k) to get invested, and it doubled in about a month. She's maxing out her Roth IRA too. She's enjoying beach vacations with her kid while also making sure her future self is set. Doing both is possible. So happy to work with Gloria again this year because there is ALWAYS more to work on as we shift from survival mode to thriving mode. 🤑 I love helping people understand their investments so they can move on with their badass lives and create their own businesses!
About Gloria Malone: She is an award winning communications professional who is passionate about changing narratives, naming ones self, and elevating under shared stories. You can follow her across all social media at @GloriaMalone and find her wearable affirmation jewelry shop here.

Did you see me twerking on stage this weekend the the Yo Quiero Dinero Podcast Our Money Our Power financial conference in Puerto Rico?! (If you're not following me on ig @travelercharly, that is where the twerkation happens!)
Guess what? The conference was almost cancelled because Jannese, the founder, couldn't get her regular sponsors on board. They said that it wouldn't work out because Puerto Rico isn't "America." WTF. 43. Investing Chisme with the Witch of Wall Street, Linda Garcia
About Linda: A Cali native and proud Latina, Linda Garcia spent 17 years working in the TV and film industry helping well-recognized TV networks, movie studios and streaming services build programming for the U.S. Hispanic market. Despite enjoying the work, Linda knew there was more to life than working to make someone else rich. Eventually, she took the knowledge she’d gained and used it to launch the Let There Be Luz podcast: a weekly podcast aimed to channel one’s spiritual journey.
In 2019, after relocating to Dallas, Linda’s spiritual journey led her to what she considers her life’s purpose: to help the Latinx community heal the generational money wounds that prevent them from achieving wealth. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Linda launched her first stock market course for beginners, and created a rapidly growing community of Latinx investors on Patreon and Instagram known as In Luz We Trust™️. Today Linda is a published children’s book author, a self-made business owner, and a guiding Luz for thousands of BIPOC who are looking to break free from limiting and toxic money mentalities. Linda’s book, ‘Wealth Warrior’, is out and I highly recommend it!

42. Money Coach vs. Financial Advisor: Which one's best for you?
Wondering what the difference is between myself, a money coach and a financial advisor? If you've googled the difference, you might see this answer: "A financial advisor is a professional who can help you develop your investment strategy and long-term financial plans. A financial coach is someone who can help you reach near-term goals by providing financial education and showing you better ways to manage your money."
On today's episode, I share how I was on track to become a financial advisor, and why I decided I didn't want to manage rich people's money for them. I quit my job as a stock broker because I wanted to help first gen, LGBT/BIPOC with their mindsets first AND I want them to manage their own money. In my opinion, financial advisors profit off of your ignorance. They're not down with helping you with your limiting beliefs/mindset. They get paid to manage your own money or understand it because you're too scared to do it. I share how I'm a great stepping stone toward one day hiring a financial advisor so that you can actually understand WTF you're paying them to do with your investments.

The way you think and feel about money has an impact in the choices you make. Not just with finances but in other areas of your life as well.
Helping you shift the way you think about money is one of my favorite things about being a money coach. In my one-on-one coaching program, we dig into your personal history with money. How was money talked about (or NOT discussed) in your home growing up? What are your feelings about money today?
Getting into the details helps us figure out some of the WHY behind our decisions. as a coach, I help my clients get over limiting beliefs that may no longer apply to their aligned selves.
My job is to help you feel confident about your finances and take actionable steps to achieve your money goals. Money mindset matters in that it helps you build confidence. This confidence can also transcend into other areas of your life.
