Cultivating it, letting it grow

Cultivating it, letting it grow

In this Episode, Host JG Larochette. explores the importance of giving everything we cultivate time to grow fully. Often, because of the wiring of the brain, we are looking for the quick fix or quick results and when those don't occur we stop cultivating and let it go. JG shares ways to actually keep the consistent cultivation going so that what grows does so consistently and also in a lifetime approach. If we cultivate a garden often and give the right conditions, the plants and trees will grow so beautifully. This same approach is what we can take when realize it will be the small minuscule growths through consistent cultivation of the inner experience that will grow so deeply that we will live a more mindful life.

New Year, Authentic YOU!

New Year, Authentic YOU!

In Episode 11 of Here and the Now Podcast: An Educator Wellness Experience, host JG Larochette at Mindful Life Project, discusses the importance of cultivating a strong and loving connection to our purest authentic nature. What if we actually worked more on unbecoming all that we have been conditioned to be that isn't our authentic selves in the first place? This episode digs in on what is being authentic, how we often get pushed away from our authentic self and how to work on getting in touch and growing our truest self. Holiday Stress? Nope!

Holiday Stress? Nope!

Episode 9 is out! This episode is all about how to use the Holiday Season (if you celebrate it or not) as a great teacher and practice of mindfulness. Many people can't wait for the Holidays and wish it were the holidays all year long, while others despise this time of year and wish it never existed. And on both spectrums stress seems to grow this time of year. This episode breaks down the deep relevance of how to build present moment awareness through a lens of compassion on both sides. Wanting things to always be like this, or wishing things were never like this have similar results. The Wheel of Skills practice episode will help build the stress reduction because that you might be feeling during this time of year. Got Skills? Yup!

Roots Vs. Symptoms: How to understand the causes to create healthier effects

Roots Vs. Symptoms: How to understand the causes to create healthier effects

Episode 8 of Here in the Now Podcast goes into seeing our internal and external behaviors as symptoms connected to deeper root causes. This is explored on both the individual level as people, and then in the context of working with youth. As humans we can create unhealthy internal patterns caused by different lived experiences that often come up as our needs were met or not. For example, if we felt not heard, valued or a sense of belonging while growing up, we can create patterns of behavior (both internally and externally) that are based on trying to overcome those points that might have caused suffering and are part of our stress response now. By diving into looking for the "Roots" of our own behavior or our students (or anyone actually) we can begin to support healing and changing the patterns of behaviors. With mindfulness we are able to really unravel the many complex layers as well as literally help a whole new architecture of the brain (the neurons that fire together wire together). Don't miss this weeks mindful sit as it will go to the "roots"!

Removing the waiting for it to be......

Removing the waiting for it to be......

In Episode 7 of Here in the Now Podcast, host JG Larochette, goes into waiting as a state of mind. As educators we often get caught in cycles of wanting it to be the future. The next 3 day weekend, the next week off, the next Summer vacation. This often leads to strong emotions and mental and emotional health challenges. In this episode we learn how to navigate our thoughts, emotions, and the patterns that arise because of them, by being able to not be entangled in the "wishing it was" or "wanting it to be" but actually fully being present with compassion with being here in the now. The practices on this podcast are hugely beneficial in being able to cultivate skillful ways to improve our wellbeing! Enjoy!

Letting go, Letting be: The Path of the Present

Letting go, Letting be: The Path of the Present

In Episode 6 of Here in the Now Podcast, Host JG Larochette from Mindful Life Project discusses how hard it is to let go of the past, especially when it has been hard parts of our past, but how important for healing and mental health it is to let go and let be. As Autumn is here we see how nature allows the letting go, and letting be and renewal come in its natural flow. We as humans can connect to that same pattern through a deepening mindfulness practice. Mindfulness allows thoughts, emotions, memories, joys, stressors, and trauma's to be witnessed with heartfulness which helps "shed" the past and come back to the renewal that the present provides. Don't miss this week's mindful sit that goes with letting go and letting be.

The Eye of the Storm- Navigating Being an Educator in 2022

The Eye of the Storm- Navigating Being an Educator in 2022

In Episode 5 of Here in the Now, host JG Larochette talks about being "the eye of the storm" as educators. Being an educator during this time is being in a complex layered "storm" that is felt in so many ways. At the same time we are seeing how the mental and emotional health of our youth is an all time crisis. In this episode JG talks about how to not only counter the "storms" but also how to become extremely skillful in how we work with out inner experiences and how we skillfully start to respond versus automatically react. Once we can be in our full skillful presence we can help our youth and peers be in that space too. The goal is to then get even more clear on how to make education be the place students and teachers feel deeply connected to. Enjoy the Mindful sit that cultivates practices that build up our inner power and resilience.

Emotions are just messages, are we listening?

Emotions are just messages, are we listening?

Here in the Now Episode 3, Host JG Larochette discusses emotions, what are they, why are they showing up and how to navigate them with mindfulness. As individuals we have often been trained to avoid, neglect, and resist strong emotions which often create reactivity and mental and emotional health challenges. With mindfulness however, we welcome ALL EMOTIONs as "best friends", notice where they show up, and bring non judgment to them. The Mindful Sit on this episode is on mindful emotions and body awareness and you don't want to miss it.

Holding Space For Ourselves and our Youth

Holding Space For Ourselves and our Youth

In this episode of Here in the Now Podcast, JG Larochette talks about what holding space for self and youth can look like with a mindfulness and compassion practice. As educators, we are constantly holding and creating space with our youth but often we get caught up in the assessing the external world/the class and forget to be consistently checking in on the internal world/our self and what is arising moment to moment. Today the practice to help us in creating more space and for ourselves and for our youth is mindful emotions, the awareness of emotions as they arise with a deep welcoming/befriending. The more we cultivate awareness of our emotions and bring compassion and understanding the more we can be able to create and hold space with others. We hope you enjoy!
