Special needs parenting can be a difficult and isolating journey. You are not alone. In this episode I discuss evaluations and assessments, the mental exhaustion and overwhelm they may cause for parents and caregivers, and what I wish professionals would think to include.
Our paths may look different, but the journeys are similar. Those who work with, know or love a special needs child or family will also find helpful insights.

Privilege, Advocacy and Fighting a Broken System
Special needs parenting can be a difficult and isolating journey. You are not alone. In this episode I discuss the privilege of being able to advocate for my child in a broken system, and my wish for all children.
Please share this episode to spread awareness of the challenges the parents and guardians of special needs children face when fighting a public school system that is set on doing the barest of bare minimums.
Join me as we explore and honor the tears, laughter, and trials, and seek to make the world a better place for all children.

Do You Want To Try A Trust Fall?
Every parent knows the trust and faith required to leave your child in the care of another. Parents of children with special needs may experience this on a more intense level, and for much longer. You are not alone. In this episode I discuss the daily "trust fall" of sending your child to school, and hoping with all hope the team you've been told to trust is there to catch you both. I also discuss some of the challenges and fears associated with parenting a minimally verbal child.
Our paths may look different, the obstacles may not be the same, but our journeys are similar.
Join me as we explore and honor the tears, laughter, and trials of special needs parenting, and seek to make the world a better place for all children.

Playground Rules - When Inclusion is Just Something They Say
This Isn't Holland is a podcast hosted by Stephanie Robinson, a special needs Mom navigating life and the world while advocating for Autism acceptance, inclusion, and better systems and support for all.
In this episode I will share an experience we had earlier this year, when my child was made to seem less and different in an attempt to "evaluate" him.
Every day I see examples where the words inclusion and acceptance are thrown around, but the actions speak to an entirely different narrative. The words mean nothing without intent and action, and this kind of hypocrisy is just one reason the parents of special needs children are disgusted by the system.
Join me as we explore and honor the tears, laughter, and trials, and seek to make the world a better place for all children. Our paths may look different, but our journeys are similar, and you are not alone.

He'll Eat When He's Hungry - When Picky Eating Isn't About Being Picky
This Isn't Holland is a podcast hosted by Stephanie Robinson, a special needs Mom navigating life and the world while advocating for Autism acceptance, inclusion, and better systems and support for all.
In this episode I will share our journey with feeding and eating difficulties, and our experiences with being told how to correct "picky eating."
At this time of year, during the holidays, many of us will find ourselves in situations with friends and family who may not understand that there is much more going on than "picky eating". If you are dealing with these conversations and comments please know you are not alone.
Our paths may look different, but the journeys are similar.
Join me as we explore and honor the tears, laughter, and trials, and seek to make the world a better place for all children.
