Love Is Enough Part 1 of 2

Love Is Enough Part 1 of 2

Ever since I truly was taught the Bible, and then began to study it myself - thus growing closer in my relationship with the Lord Jesus, the phrase "Christ is sufficient and love is enough" became a foundation upon which to build my life. To help explain in part, I like to think back to the words penned by the apostle Paul in Philippians 3:7-11, "But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ - the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead."

If you take the time to read the verses prior to the ones mentioned above, you will see that Paul is making a brilliant argument about the confidence that we as people put into everything else other than Christ. Paul himself was a young man with great reason to boast in the flesh. He was a devout Pharisee, a fine-standing man man in the eyes of the religious leaders (a "Hebrew of Hebrews", vs. 5), a zealot bent on persecuting the believers of Jesus and doing so in the name of God. He was everything that a young Hebrew man of the time could dream of becoming, yet one encounter with the risen Lord completely turned Paul's life on end. And here is where the "Love Is Enough" concept can clearly be made evident.

Religion Or Relationship

Religion Or Relationship

This study, “Religion or Relationship: We Are The Church” focuses on a story told to the Pharisees who were listening to Jesus as he spoke. The Pharisees were sneering at Jesus (meaning they were ridiculing and mocking him). Why? Because Jesus had finished teaching that “no servant can serve two masters” and that “you cannot serve both God and Money” (Luke 16:13 NIV). Why was this cause for the Pharisees to sneer? Simply put, the Pharisees were lovers of money (Luke 16:14).

In this lesson, author and speaker Daniel T. Adams takes a look at religion versus relationship, and the practical aspects of how this looks in our lives today. To have a relationship with the Almighty God, means to recognize and submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It is what makes us known by God, not just have a knowledge of God. Religion today, much like the fraudulent religion of the Pharisees, can place us into a very similar predicament, even within churches that speak about Jesus, sadly enough.

Follow along as we take an "Expedition Into God's Word".

Perhaps Today: What To Expect When You're Expecting

Perhaps Today: What To Expect When You're Expecting

The concept behind the name of this online community (Perhaps Today) stems from a long history in Christianity. In this lesson, author and speaker Daniel T. Adams takes an expedition into God's Word in order to explore such a concept and explain why this name was chosen for this site.

Perhaps Today is focused on the end result of life, not just the journey of the life itself. Much like a woman who is pregnant with child, there are many signs in this life - or childbirth pains - that serve as reminders of the hope that we have in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible promises that Jesus will return one day to call home to himself, all those who have put their faith and trust in him. That moment of being caught up in the air with the Lord, to be glorified with the Lord in a bodily resurrection, and to meet with God, is the moment and culmination of all the childbirth pains of life giving way to the inexpressible and glorious joy that awaits those who call upon the name of the Lord (1 Peter 1:8 NIV). The example of a pregnant woman, with all the severe pains of childbirth, are overcome by the joy that is found when holding one's newborn baby.
