In this episode, Dr. Shilpa Iyer interviews Dr. Annick Poirier, a Urogynecologist at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. She is also a Clinical Lecturer within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at University of Alberta. 

Her research has been centered around access to female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, with a specific interest for vulnerable populations. According to her research on pelvic floor conditions in immigrant and refugee women, this group of patients typically have lower pelvic floor knowledge which increases their risk of not accessing appropriate care. Dr. Annick strives to identify and remove barriers to care for vulnerable women with pelvic floor disorders.
