Genesis 45:4-8, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. This famine that has ravaged the land for two years will last five more years, and there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. So it was God who sent me here, not you! (NLT)

Leviticus 19:4, Do not turn to idols or make for yourselves any gods of cast metal: I am the Lord your God. (ESV)

 

Understanding that Input Equals Output

 

Leviticus 19:5-7, “When you offer a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord, you shall offer it so that you may be accepted. It shall be eaten the same day you offer it or on the day after, and anything left over until the third day shall be burned up with fire. If it is eaten at all on the third day, it is tainted; it will not be accepted. Being Intentionally Generous

Choosing Honesty over Deceit

Holiness Begins with Brokenness and Ends with Passion

 

Nehemiah 1:4-9, When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven. Then I said, “O Lord, God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps his covenant of unfailing love with those who love him and obey his commands,

listen to my prayer! Look down and see me praying night and day for your people Israel. I confess that we have sinned against you. Yes, even my own family and I have sinned! We have sinned terribly by not obeying the commands, decrees, and regulations that you gave us through your servant Moses. (NLT)

 

2 Kings 22:11-13, When the king heard what was written in the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes in despair. Then he gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, “Go to the Temple and speak to the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah. Inquire about the words written in this scroll. God’s Calling Builds the Kingdom through Unity

Battle Against Mediocrity

 “Battle Against Mediocrity”

Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. John 14:11-12 (ESV)

 

What keeps us mediocre? What barriers keep us from reaching high and dreaming big? 

 

Fear of Failure 

Complacency

Being Overwhelmed  

Lack of Resources 

Cynicism

Skepticism

 

Jesus says we are capable of greater things, what does that mean?

 

Greater is About Attitude Not Opportunity 

 

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 (ESV)

 

Greater is Achieved with Divine Power Not Human Strength

 

You crave something that you do not possess, so you murder to get it. You desire the things you cannot earn, so you sue others and fight for what you want. You do not have because you have chosen not to ask. And when you do ask, you still do not get what you want because your motives are all wrong—because you continually focus on self-indulgence. James 4:2-3 (Voice)

 

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

 

Greater is Defined by Eternal Impact Not Worldly Success

 

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:6-11 (ESV)

Why Do We Seek God: We Seek God Because We Realize We Need Him

When Do We Seek God: It’s Our Turn to Seek God for Ourselves

 

Esther 4:14, If you stay silent during this time, deliverance for the Jews will come from somewhere, but you, my child, and all of your father’s family will die. And who knows? Perhaps you have been made queen for such a time as this.” (Voice)

 

Hebrews 11:6, And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (ESV)

 

How Do We Seek God: We Seek God by Making Him a Priority

 

Proverbs 3:6, In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success. (TLB)

 

Jeremiah 29:13, You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (ESV)

Loyalty is Sustained Through Patience

 

Exodus 32:1, When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.” (NIV)

 

Matthew 21:12-13, Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. Loyalty is Expressed in Discipleship

Loyalty Begins and Ends with Fear

John 3:17, For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (ESV)

Learn to Look Beyond the Surface of Our Actions

 

Luke 6:45, The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. (ESV)

 

1 John 1:7-9, If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (ESV)

 

Surrender Your Intentions of Selfish Motivation

James 1:27, Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (ESV)

 

Filter Your Emotions Through the Word of God

 

1 John 3:3, And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. (ESV)

 

Philippians 4:8, Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.(ESV)

Dirty Hands Reveal Our Need to Be Clean

 

Romans 7:6-7, now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit. Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.” (NLT)

 

Jeremiah 5:25, Your wickedness has deprived you of these wonderful blessings. Your sin has robbed you of all these good things. (NLT)

 

Clean Hands Enhance the Spirit’s Work in Our Lives

 

2 Timothy 2:20-22, In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. (NLT)

 

Matthew 5:29-30, If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell. (ESV)

 

The Condition of Our Hands Effects Those Closest to Us

 

Daniel 6:24, Then the king gave orders to arrest the men who had maliciously accused Daniel. He had them thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. The lions leaped on them and tore them apart before they even hit the floor of the den. (NLT)

Experiencing Jesus Face to Face Will Transform You

 

Matthew 2:10-12, When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. And

Repentance Begins with Acceptance and Godly Sorrow

 

2 Corinthians 7:8-11, I am not sorry that I sent that severe letter to you, though I was sorry at first, for I know it was painful to you for a little while. Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way. For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. We feed ourselves with the wrong things.

John 4:7-14 NIV

“When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans. ) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” 

Galatians 5:16-17 NIV

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.”

Our Appetite changes as we grow.

Our souls are starving for the presence of God.

You shouldn’t judge the person nailing Jesus’ hand to the cross while you hold the other hammer.

 

Your Witness Will Always Be Your Greatest Testimony

Define What matters Most: What is God Calling us to?

 

Mark 3:1-6, They watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. Focus on What Matters Most: The Law is an Indicator NOT a Measurement

In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
