Brand new to the Nita Hawes' Nightmare Blog series but this was a great intro into the extended Killadelphia Universe!

Perfect place to step in for an overview of the characters and plot, plus a nice tie-in to the main character from the original series

Would definitely pickup #6 and it also made me more interested in getting started on Killadelphia Vol 3

DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNN!!

We have reached #1 on my Holiday Reading List!

Ha!  and we circled right back to DC!!

I picked Dark Knights of Steel because it is so UNLIKE everything I have read from DC until now.

The storytelling is PHENOMENAL and, in the Legacy of FUTURE STATE, really sets the tone of WHAT COULD BE for all of your favorite DC Characters

The watercolor art is BREATHTAKING and the paneling really flows with the tense medieval backdrop we are adventuring through

The TWIST and TURNS in these three issues made it a total SOLD OUT copy when Issue 3 was released at my LCS!!  I have NEVER walked in and been told ALL of a DC series was sold out.  Wow.  That speaks volumes for how great this story is already.

Apologies for the audio!  Still trying to get this new setup straigtened out haha!

I went a little long-winded on the intro but it's so important to me to share good energy and encouragement!  I don't mind if you FF straight to the review tho!  LOL!!

It was a Super Tight Race BUT............

#2 on My Christmas Reading List

TALES OF MOTHER F. GOOSE

Whoa!  Aftershock really put some work into literally DESTROYING our childhood nursery rhyme memories!! HAHAH!! But in a totally Good and Badass kinda way!!

After you read this interweaving tale of MOBSTERS & MAYHEM you will NEVER think of the Three Blind Mice or the Three Little Pigs the same way EVER again! But I had sooo much fun reading this action crime drama, especially the noire-detective feel and the Pulp-fiction style writing and dialogue.  Art is okay, nice watercoloring, but definitely matches the overall Tone and Surreal energy of this BRILLIANTLY executed retelling of all our favorite kindergarten stories

Definitely want MORE of THIS!!!  and this One-Shot by Aftershock Comics is absolutely an issue that can be re-read a few times and enjoyed every single time!!

#3 on My Christmas Reading List

THAT TEXAS BLOOD: CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

Have you read this series?  Or want to?

If you are like me, you may have tried and then decided, um, hm, maybe skip and come back in a few issues

There is definitely something intriguing about the premise of this American Gothic style series.  It mixes elements of horror, myster, with a splash of No Country for Old Men but still can't quite keep me linked into every issue

HOWEVER, this Holiday One-Shot was the Perfect centerpiece to this series

Although it is a standalone, you can tell that it adds some elements of the regular on-going series plot

But, it can definitely be enjoyed without having read anyother previous issues.

This GHOST STORY will make Scrooge quiver with fear!

Best read with as few spoilers as possible, but it was definitely a nod to classic haunted tales with a sinister ending!

Absolutely the MOST ROOTIN' TOOTIN' good time read for last month!

The series still makes me Laugh Out Loud at all the Most Inappropriate moments!! and I Love It!! 

Best parts are the hidden details in some of the panel backgrounds, such as Sac O'Nuts snax (right!!!) and our favorite sidekick giving everyone the middle finger salute in his high school photo (yessssss, he did!! see for yourself!!)

We also get the BIG REVEAL!  Which is the NAME of our Gunslinger and even ........ queue suspense music .......... to see his face!!  AND wearing sunglasses (even better!)

The only reason I had this so low on the list is because I wanted MORE!! hahahaha!!

After being SO HYPED for this story - limited 3 Issue Series - I expected so much more from the storyline and the pacing

The not great parts were, the pacing moved a lot slower than you would expect from such a short run series and the plot itself is not anything unique to most of Batman stories out there right now

The Good Parts:  Absolutely love the oversized magazine dimensions.  The paneling is great and the interior artwork fits the action and rising tension almost perfectly

Still undecided as to if I will pick up the second issue, but I may surprise myself and take a chance!

Bear with me! Still trying to get this lighting situation figured out! lol

Another WILD Ride!!

The kicks and shots pick up IMMEDIATELY from the last Issue!

But this time, choices must be made!!  Who dies and lives, amongst angels and men?

Definitely enjoyed this next chapter in the Gunslinger Spawn spinoff!  The best part is watching the bond forge between the DARK HERO and his trustee (and somewhat naive) sidekick!!

Paneling, illustration and snappy coloring make this a FUN read.. and just wait until you get to the toilet scene ..........hah!

SERIAL KILLERS vs DEATH CULT!

Yes, you read that correctly!!

And WOW what a ride of MAYHEM and MADNESS this was, but oh so FUN to read!!!

I passed on reading this series SO MANY TIMES.  The preview blurb for Issue One and also the cover just did not catch me BUT, as always, you lovely IG friends recommended this to me SEVERAL TIMES 

Finally, one overcast Saturday night, I turned on a spooky movie for background noise and decided to give this a try.. and WHOA!  I was not disappointed AT ALL!!

Had to catch up on the first issues via digital, but it was totally worth turning my phone at 180 degree angles!

Was able to get the FINAL ISSUE in PRINT!! YAY!!  Collector's Item for me! SCORE one for Q!! haha!!

Awesome adventure through revenge, insanity, and Love and Friendship (YES!!, there is a heartwarming group and individual friendship running through these pages!!)

If you are a fan of EDGAR ALLEN POE and the like, PLEASE READ THIS!! You are guaranteed to luv it!!!

GOBBLE GOBBLE!!  Hope your TURKEY DAY was Fantastic!

Monday Funday is rounding out so let's get back to some COMIC MAYHEM! 

Depending on which issue you read from this LIMITED SERIES by AfterShock Comics, you may or may not have enjoyed BEYOND THE BREACH

The series was one of three that I read this year regarding mysterious rifts opening between our world and that which lay beyond the mysterious veil leading to the void.  

The story never really locked on to a consistent tone, and from issue to issue, we moved from Horror to Comedy to Space Adventure to Action Scifi and back again several times during the short five issue run - and yes, there is a space bounty hunter who is dressed like a futuristic Elvis!

As for art, although it does match the action well, you can't quite say it is the most visually stunning panels or layout you have ever seen.

But, for some reason, most likely due to the likability of the main characters, you want to see the story through to the finale.  I give the writers credit, they don't stretch the series out longer than necessary.  We are given exactly what we need for a quick run through the most bizarre, and somewhat humorous at times, alien invasion of the year

Honest answer, I really did enjoy this random run through the countryside, fighting space invaders from the back of giant turtoise with a cute talking kaola bear-like animal while saving a little kid from being eaten by giant beetle-things.  It was fun, pure and simple, and sometimes those are the best stories.
