Ep. 24 - A New Conservative News Media Platform for Colorado... the Rocky Mountain Voice!

A New Conservative News Media Platform for Colorado... the Rocky Mountain Voice!

Introducing the Rocky Mountain Voice, a new conservative news media platform for Coloradans to be the VOICE of your VALUES.

The Rocky Mountain Voice will report REAL NEWS to allow Coloradans to have the knowledge to make better decisions - in government and culture. We will be:

  • Building Trust through  Truth
  • Inspiring the Next Generation of Colorado
  • Always Pro-Citizen, Pro-Liberty and Pro-Colorado
  • Honoring our Heritage of Rugged Individualism

One of the most monumental challenges that Coloradans face is that it's hard to find the truth. Not only is the mainstream media biased and controlled by the Left, but the right has few effective outlets for distributing the truth - lots of great individual journalists, and some regional resources - but not one platform that is the go-to for freedom lovers across the state.

The Rocky Mountain Voice will share news from other reliable freedom loving voices in Colorado, as well as our own original content.  We will provide citizens the information and knowledge they need to be educated and informed regarding policy and government, without the ridiculous liberal bias we haven’t been able to escape.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Rocky Mountain Voice will not participate in partisan politics. As a result, the outlet will remain nimble and call “balls and strikes” no matter the offender, R or D.

The Rocky Mountain Voice will create and aggregate content (we’re not competing with other conservative news outlets, we're supporting them). We won’t be run on advertising dollars, subscriptions or paywalls.

It’s free – all the content, all the time.

Rocky Mountain Voice will consist of a robust, constantly updated, online news center,  RockyMountainVoice.com, with active social media engagement, podcasts, documentaries, and newsletters.  And it’s not just about news, it’s about community, it’s about having fun again as conservatives.  We’ll also host fun, engaging events across the state!

Our Mountain Minute newsletter will be a quick 5 minute read on the news of the day. Our weekly RMV newsletter will be a deeper dive and a compilation of the news from that week as it’s critical to keep all of you informed as often as the news changes.

Our goal with RMV is to provide reliable, quality news, build community and empower you as citizens!

You ready to get our state back? Let’s do this, sign up for Rocky Mountain Voice at RockyMountainVoice.com to get in the loop and get ready for a fun, hard charging, game changing year ahead where WINNING Is the name of the game!

Ep. 23 - New Year, New Healthcare: Ditching the Bureaucratic Model in 2024 (Dr. Kelly Shockley and Dr. John Dygert)

Ep. 23 - New Year, New Healthcare: Ditching the Bureaucratic Model in 2024 (Dr. Kelly Shockley and Dr. John Dygert)

In the midst of the pandemic, Colorado's legislature pushed through a little talked-about state-controlled plan that would majorly impact the delivery of healthcare services in Colorado. Why are some elected officials so eager to change things and put the government in charge?

Dr. Kelly Shockley and Dr. John Dygert joined me on Unleashed this week to discuss the problems with our current system and how they’re innovating a new healthcare future in our state.

The Truth Unleashed: Governor Polis and the Democratic leadership here in Colorado are on a mission to lead our state towards universal healthcare, or socialized medicine, that jeopardizes medical miracles with bureaucratic barriers and false promises for affordability.

The Lies Exposed: What’s so bad about the
Colorado Affordable Health Care Option? Let’s take a look…

  • With unintended consequences to quality and access, it may force hospitals to eliminate some critical care functions.
  • Health insurance premiums in the individual market went up 10% during the law's first year (2023) and are expected to rise again next year, contrary to promises of affordability.
  • Insurers are leaving the exchange market, reducing options for Coloradans, despite its promises of accessibility.
  • So far, only one-third of the individual plans and 80% of Colorado Option plans on the small employer’s market are hitting the state's targets.
  • Government control in healthcare could jeopardize the existing high-quality care and innovation in Colorado's healthcare system.
  • Colorado Democrats have even taken a unique step by providing state subsidies to 11,000 undocumented immigrants for their healthcare needs.

In contrast, a free-market approach to healthcare, combined with a direct primary care model, can offer a viable solution to our healthcare challenges. Here's how I propose we fix healthcare in Colorado:

  1. Embrace free-market principles and encourage competition among healthcare providers, insurers, and pharmaceutical companies
  2. Grow a Direct Primary Care Model where patients pay a monthly subscription directly to their primary care physician
  3. Remove barriers to entry for healthcare providers
  4. Promote price transparency to empower patients to make informed decisions about their care
  5. Educate the public about their rights and options in a free-market healthcare system
  6. Establish a non-governmental group responsible for monitoring the impact of these changes
  7. Allow medical professionals to keep achieving remarkable results without red tape, overregulation, and government control

How can we take action?

  1. Seek Alternative Health Care Options: Consider exploring healthcare options outside the traditional medical system, such as chiropractic care like Dr. Shockley, concierge medical services like Dr. Dygert, or functional/integrative medicine that focuses on personalized, root-cause treatment.
  2. Advocate for Personal Health Choices: Encourage discussions, advocate for healthcare choices that align with personal values and principles, and seek healthcare providers who respect and accommodate these preferences.
  3. Adopt Healthier Lifestyle Practices: The current system thrives on us already being sick, so the best thing you can do for yourself and your family is to take control of your health! Implement healthier lifestyle choices, particularly in diet and exercise, and focus on teaching these values to your kids to instill healthy habits from a young age.

Ep. 22 - Colorado Crime & Safety: How Bad Is It REALLY? (Former ICE Director John Fabbricatore)

Ep. 22 - Colorado Crime & Safety: How Bad Is It REALLY? (Former ICE Director John Fabbricatore)

How real are the statistics about Colorado’s increasing crime rates?

John Fabbricatore joins me on Unleashed this week to discuss the implications of bad immigration policy here in Colorado that is leading to terrifying statistics like these. And yes, the stats are REAL and as bad as they let off.

The Truth Unleashed: Polis’ open border and sanctuary state policies are the major contributing factors to our state’s dire reality when it comes to crime and safety.

What’s happening because of Colorado's sanctuary state policy?

  • We are one of the top cartel activity states in the country. They come here because of our sanctuary state status. Fentanyl is getting worse. Trafficking is a huge issue and Colorado is a hub for it.
  • Why? They know they’ll stay out of trouble because of our soft-on-crime policies. They know the state’s not going to report them to ICE. And logistically/geographically, Colorado is an ideal hub for drugs and trafficking with access to the southern border by I-25 and easy routes east/west through I-70.
  • Another big reason illegal immigrants come to Colorado is they know they can get a driver's license within a week of being in Denver. They use our resources and our taxpayer money, then take that DL elsewhere.

The Lies Exposed: Have Democrats taken it too far? Now that they’ve seen the dark side of the open border, are they just too afraid to go back on their promises and admit they were wrong? Here are some lies John exposed during the episode…

  1. ICE is not the bad guy. They are not dragging people out of restaurants or taking people from their job sites. They are busting drug dealers, cartels, and traffickers to keep us safe.
  2. We are not anti-immigration. We are anti-ILLEGAL immigration. Jobs, resources, and taxpayer dollars should be reserved for LEGAL immigrants.

How can we take action?

  1. Get rid of sanctuary state policy so we can collaborate with federal agencies like ICE to combat crime.
  2. Teach our children vigilance, confidence, and awareness.
  3. Protect and support our Second Amendment.

Ep. 21 - The Big Lie: Prop HH, Anti-Trust & Govt. Growth (Pete Sepp with National Taxpayers Union)

Ep. 21 - The Big Lie: Prop HH, Anti-Trust & Govt. Growth (Pete Sepp with National Taxpayers Union)

This week, we're diving headfirst into a hot-button issue right here in Colorado: Proposition HH. This ballot measure, an initiative being heavily pushed by Governor Jared Polis and his dark money groups, aims to destroy the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights (TABOR) - one of the most important pieces of legislation we’ve had in Colorado history - by eliminating the surplus payments back to taxpayers OVER TIME. While Prop HH claims to lower property tax in the short term, the long-term effect will cost taxpayers tens of millions of dollars in taxes. Heidi explains the repercussions of Jared Polis’ growth of government during his tenure, uncovering some of his contradicting stances on taxes during the campaign, as well as his reckless spending and future government aspirations.

Heidi interviews Pete Sepp from the National Taxpayers Union on the importance of TABOR and why we must protect it at all costs, not just for Colorado, but for our nation. They also discuss Attorney General Phil Weiser’s involvement in an alarming anti-trust lawsuit against Google and why it should be a concern for taxpayers.

Remember to VOTE NO on Prop HH if you want to hold the government accountable for their overspending! If you have questions, please feel free to email me at heidi@heidiganahl.com or reach out to your local legislators.

This episode features a recent speech she delivered at Charis Bible College, emphasizing the critical role of people of faith in standing up, getting their churches engaged, and voting their values. Heidi acknowledges the global attacks on people of faith and emphasizes the significance of Christians actively participating in the political process… even when it's daunting.

Episode Topics: Christianity, intersection of faith and politics, 2024 presidential election, Colorado’s faith landscape, voting your values, historical parallels, obligation to speak, power of unity, taking action, civic engagement

BONUS EPISODE: Free To Be Coalition Debate Series (Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. vs. Alex Epstein)

When Heidi was a Regent at the University of Colorado, one of the problems she was most concerned about was the attack on free speech. How can we ever achieve academic freedom - or freedom as is - if there is no diversity of thought or tolerance for opposing views? She founded the Free to Be Coalition as an effort to promote healthy, respectful debate on University campuses — a project she's extremely proud of, hosting big names on both sides of the aisle to demonstrate productive debate to students across the country.

One of those big names was Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. — one of the ONLY liberals who would come to the debate at CU Boulder. He was kind, intelligent, and such a great example of how to debate productively. Too bad Hotez won’t debate him on his vaccine stance (fast forward to the 58-minute mark to hear it).

The entire 2.5-hour debate is available on all podcast platforms, or you can watch it via YouTube and Rumble. We highly recommend you check it out as he’s making quite the splash as he dives into the 2024 presidential nomination.

Ep. 12 - The Fight For Parental Rights: Control, Power, and Politics (Tamra Farah, Cassie Kimbrell and Ken Witt)

Parental rights in America are under attack — and if you’re a parent, you are at war even if you don’t realize it yet. Join Heidi this week as she explores the Left’s obsession with taking rights away from parents and putting a wedge in every American family unit. She is joined by Tamra Farah, a longtime warrior for parents and a leader at Parents Know Best, as well as Cassie Kimbrell and Ken Witt whose local success story out of Woodland Park, Colorado is gaining national media attention.

Full Episode Breakdown:

Part 1 (0:00-11:39): Heidi deep dives into two recent attacks on parental rights — the Southern Poverty Law Center’s move to declare Moms for Liberty a hate group, as well as a new law in California that goes as far as saying “non-affirming behavior” is child abuse. She discusses:

  • How groups like SPLC are creating a culture of extremism in America by inflating numbers, conflating dissent with hate, and targeting conservative voices.
  • What actually falls under the umbrella of “parental rights” and how they’re being manipulated for control, power, and political gain.
  • Why the left is hellbent on breaking up the American family unit and making parents out to be the enemy.

Part 2 (11:39-39:00): Tamra Farah joins Heidi for a brutally candid look into the current state of parental rights on the national stage while also providing insight into actionable steps parents can take to protect their children. She talks about:

  • The history behind gender ideology and how 20th-century Marxist leaders intentionally used it to separate children from their families as a political strategy.
  • The Left’s use of education and the public school system to further their agenda and how teachers are being kept OUT of the conversation.
  • The truth and lies within the school choice discussion and how to find the best education option for your family.
  • What the left is planning next and how conservatives can start playing OFFENSE.

Ep. 11 - Pride Month: Has The Rainbow Been Hijacked? (Valdamar Archuleta from CO Log Cabin Republicans)

Heidi offers her thoughts about the month-long celebration of Pride and the trend of “rainbow exhaustion” it causes among not only the general population but allies and LGBTQ individuals themselves. She dives into the idea that Pride is counterproductive and explores the sensitive subject of exposing kids to topics of sexuality too young. Heidi interviews Valdamar Archuleta, the President of Colorado Log Cabin Republicans, to help navigate this complicated topic and invites him to share his unique perspective as a gay Republican.

Full Episode Breakdown:

Part 1 (0:00-13:09): Heidi talks about the TRUTH and LIES surrounding Pride Month — from the history to the benefits, to the concern regarding our kids. She discusses:

  • Why Pride Month began and how it’s evolved as the LGBTQ community successfully gained the same legal rights as everyone else.
  • What “rainbow exhaustion” is and how it not only dilutes the significance and impact of Pride but further divides the LGBTQ community from society.
  • How to address Pride from a lens of the Christian faith.
  • The negative impact of Pride through the lens of our kids and the extreme LGBTQ narrative being pushed on them through schools, the media, and by our government.

  • His journey from being raised a Jehovah's Witness and getting kicked out for being gay, to fighting for gay rights and unexpectedly discovering his interest in conservative politics along the way.
  • His comparison of Pride Month to Black History Month, and how today’s celebration fails to honor the true meaning of Pride.
  • How Pride parades and celebrations are further perpetuating stereotypes of the LGBTQ community, creating more division and negative perceptions of the movement.
  • The common ground that can be found using common sense amongst our neighbors, family, and friends when discussing the current state of the LGBTQ movement.

Ep. 9 - Has Colorado Gone Bat Sh*t Crazy? (Christine Bowman from Covid Bat Research Moratorium of Colorado)

Ep. 9 - Has Colorado Gone Bat Sh*t Crazy? (Christine Bowman from Covid Bat Research Moratorium of Colorado)

National Institutes of Health, yes Andrew Fauci’s organization, recently awarded Colorado State University $6.7 million to build a 14,000 square foot bat research lab in Fort Collins in order to conduct “gain-of-function” research on bat-borne and bat-associated diseases. A group of concerned citizens here in Colorado is asking for more time, more information, and for transparency around CSU’s proposal to build this bat vivarium in our backyard, requesting a moratorium be placed on the project until more is known about how COVID-19 originated, as we’ve seen several new documents released in the past several months. Is the risk worth the reward? Heidi interviews the head of this group, the Covid Bat Research Moratorium of Colorado (CBRMC), Christine Bowman.

Follow @heidiganahl on social media for updates (links below) or sign up for our newsletter at heidiganahl.com.

Full Episode Breakdown:

Part 1 (0:00-13:22): Heidi shares her concerns regarding the safety of CSU’s past “gain-of-function” research projects and why this new bat research lab should raise red flags for Coloradans. She talks about:

  • How even well-intended research can go sideways, just as it did at CSU several decades ago with Chronic Wasting Disease — killing half of Colorado’s deer herds and about a third of its elk herds.
  • What “gain-of-function” research is and why there needs to be a bigger conversation about whether it’s appropriate to be doing it at ANY university, in any lab, in America.
  • The legitimate concerns of citizens following the COVID-19 pandemic, and our right to question the government’s involvement in “gain-of-function” research, especially when it’s in our backyard.

Part 2 (13:22-38:01): Christine Bowman from the Covid Bat Research Moratorium of Colorado (CBRMC) shares why she started the group and the journey they've embarked on together to get more transparency around CSU’s new bat research lab. She discusses:

  • The Larimer County Planning Board’s last-minute public meeting, conveniently set during the holidays (12/21/22) to rush approval of the bat research facility without any further public commentary.
  • The LIES being told about the virus’ they plan on studying as part of this proposal, as well as the biosafety of this facility and its research.
  • The TRUTH about “gain-of-function” research at CSU and the extremely vague information being shared with the public indirectly.

Ep. 8 - Elections Have Consequences: The Legislative Session From Hell (Brandi Bradley, Roger Hudson)

Ep. 8 - Elections Have Consequences: The Legislative Session From Hell (Brandi Bradley, Roger Hudson)

Elections have consequences, boy did we get a lesson in that over the last few months. Colorado’s General Assembly, which is the state Senate and state House combined, meets annually, beginning in January and continuing for 120 days. There were over 600 bills introduced at the Capitol this year, 220 of them making it through the General Assembly to Jared Polis now waiting on his desk for sign-off. This hot mess of a legislative session will only drive Colorado more into the ground. Heidi interviews state representative Brandi Bradley and Deputy Chief of Staff for the House GOP Roger Hudson.

Part 1 (0:00-20:27): Heidi exposes her list of the most terrible bills that passed during, what she is calling, “the Session from Hell”. She talks about:

  • The WINS from this year’s General Assembly — including Kayden’s Law, an effort through her charity Mom’s Fight Back focused on family court reform, indecent exposure going from a misdemeanor to a felony, and Polis’ landmark housing bill being shut down.
  • 18 of the WORST bills passed through this session, broken down into housing, property tax and the elimination of TABOR, kids, abortion, crime and drugs, and lastly, guns.
  • Why elections MATTER and how the legislature’s supermajority combined with a governor who drives their agenda is putting government takeover by the Democrat party in Colorado in overdrive.

Part 2 (20:27-31:44): State Representative (House District 39) Brandi Bradley shares her unique experience being one of 19 Republicans in the House of Representatives during her first-ever Colorado General Assembly. She discusses:

  • The frustration she felt representing 46% of the population yet still feeling silenced, and the unfortunate reality that most Dems are told how to vote, rather than listening to their constituents.
  • How bills presented this session did not represent the reality of issues everyday Coloradans face today.
  • The surprising attacks on landlords and employers, as well as the most controversial bills for constituents — Polis’ land use bill and wolves.
  • She built relationships across the aisle while standing firm in her principles.

Part 3 (31:44-52:19): House GOP Deputy Chief of Staff and Castle Pines City Councilman Roger Hudson shares the roller coaster he experienced over the past 120 days. He discusses:

  • How hard it was to find middle ground on tough topics like abortion, housing, kids, and guns.
  • The dark reality of how bills today will affect Coloradans in 10, 20, and 30 years, and the historic consequences to taxes passed this session.
  • The shocking lack of focus on issues related to our kids, especially with the record number of women and moms in the House of Representatives.
  • The importance of paying attention to local issues, electing the right local officials, and doing a better job at anticipating what bills will be brought to the table during legislative sessions.

Ep. 6 - Stealing Our Kids’ Hearts, Minds & Bodies: Gender Madness in Colorado (Oli London)

We are on the precipice of the government taking complete control of our kid's hearts, minds, and futures. And if they succeed, it will leave scars that they may never heal from. Heidi discusses the dangerous new laws passed in Colorado that advocate to keep parents in the dark regarding their children’s mental and physical health while also making us the first-ever “transgender tourism state”. She interviews Oli London, activist and author of the new book Gender Madness.

  • The use of screens, drugs, schools, and radical medical experimentation to turn kids away from their parents and toward the government, possibly scarring them for life.

  • Falling victim to the “gender ideology” movement and how factors like social media, the education system, media, and mental health are pushing a growing number of young people into transitioning.
  • The dangerous long-term effects of transitioning and the hidden agenda of the multi-billion dollar gender-affirming care industry.
  • How this harmful narrative is being pushed onto kids in a subtle, innocent way, and how we can address issues around self-identity in ways that don’t involve life-altering surgery.
  • How Oli found peace through faith, empowering him to detransition and become an outspoken activist for children and women's rights.
  • His new role as a spokesperson for Caitlyn Jenner’s new PAC, Fairness First, that advocates for parental rights in light of radical gender ideology infiltrating our children in school - especially in sports and the classroom.

Ep. 5 - Polis Says, No White Picket Fence for You (Mayor of Centennial Stephanie Piko on SB 23-213)

A new bill introduced by Governor Jared Polis is attempting to destroy the dream of a white picket fence here in Colorado. Even with new amendments, SB 23-213 jeopardizes citizen-led local government by displacing local zoning rules in favor of a statewide mandate to incorporate "affordable" housing everywhere. Heidi discusses the implications this “one-size-fits-all” approach would have on property value and quality of life, and also interviews the Mayor of Centennial Stephanie Piko who is actively fighting against this bill.

*Please note that this bill is RAPIDLY changing so some of the specific information discussed may not be accurate. Heidi includes a segment at the end that discusses the amendments approved as of Tuesday evening (4/18/23) and who you should contact to share your concerns. That being said, it’s important that we recognize what Polis and the Dems are *trying* to accomplish here in Colorado. Know that they were WILLING to go this far.

Full Episode Breakdown:

Part 1 (0:00-13:44): Heidi breaks down important pieces of SB 23-213 and shares the disturbing end goal of Polis and the Democrats when it comes to housing issues. She talks about:

  • The veil of “affordable” housing Polis is hiding behind in order to push density and public transit.
  • Why this bill is a slap in the face to local government officials and takes the voice away from Coloradans.
  • How the state ITSELF is the main culprit when it comes to the increasing cost of homeownership in Colorado with its long list of inflationary housing regulations, and why this bill would only make regulatory costs worst for the consumer.
  • The authoritarian idea of 15-minute cities and how Polis is using this "green utopia" as a golden ticket to his presidential run.

Part 2 (13:44-33:45): Mayor Stephanie Piko talks about why she’s fighting SB 23-213 as the leader of a major Denver Metro city and the implications it would have on Colorado municipalities. She discusses:

  • Real-life examples of how SB 23-213 would change our communities and concerns she has about her own city’s capacity to follow suit.
  • How this model has made things worse for homeowners in places like Oregon and how we can reduce housing costs without SB 23-213.
  • The disregard this bill has for infrastructure and water supply, and the impact this would have on local governments.
  • The importance of keeping the issue of housing to local municipalities to find solutions that answer to constituents, and are supported by the community.
  • What people can do to fight against SB 23-213. *As of 4/20/23, please contact senators on the Appropriations Committee listed here.
